Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
No one to guide us
Lost in our senses
Deep down inside I know our love will die

Only this moment
Holds us together
Lost in confusion
Feelings are out there
Scared of devotion
Doubting intentions
Deep down inside I know our love will die

Stay or forever go
Play or you'll never know
What heaven decided
You can't deny it's
All you've been waiting for

Stay or forever go
Play or you'll never know
Your spirit's divided
You will decide if I'm
All you've been waiting for

Clouds in my head have been parted with grace
By the voices of an angel revealing her face
And her words they make sense 'n' I do understand
Falling in love isn't part of a plan

Forces within me mix reason with lust, but
I'll try to accept it and not make it worse
'cause I know I might loose it by taking the chance,
(But) love without pain isn't really romance

Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
Always beside her
Trusting my senses
Deep down inside I know love will survive

Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to the other
Nothing else out there
Always beside her
Trusting my senses
Deep down inside I know love will survive

    My Interpretation

Genius song, rediscovered it and I am completly addicted to it at the moment.

I think (and this is probably partly based on what is going on in my life and therefore head at the moment) that the song is about two friends that harbour secret feelings for each other, but that see barriers to their relationship. However they get themselves into a situation where they are forced to confront their feelings (out dancing, up the eifel tower, what ever). In my head i have them ooking into each others eyes and guessing at what the other is feeling.

At the start the guy is overly concerned with the consequences of the relationship, what ever they may be, the entire second verse seems to me to be about him backing away, attempting to convince himself that what hes seeing from the girl isnt real, that its all in his head. he's possibly convinced himself that if he can ride out his feelings for her for longer they will eventually fade, "deep down inside i know our love will die"

The girl then sees the indecision, and steps up her part, forcing him to accept that what hes seeing is true. to me "play or you'll never know" is a refernce to the gamble he has to take to find out whether he has the chance to make something happen. She introduces the idea of fate, and that they were pre-ordaned to be together somehow, before repeating the original plea to him to take the chance, but a little uncertain of whether he will or wont, she tells him that the choice is totally his to make, a kind of 'im here if you want me' moment.

The guy then sees whats being communicated, the clouds parting is a pretty standard term for clarity taking the place of confusion, the angel obviously needs no description, and he accepts that they do have a chance at being together. The "falling in love isnt part of a (the?) plan" line, to me, seems to say that this wasnt what either of them set out for, that it has just happened, mabye it complicates their lives somewhat.

the mixing of reason with lust is his last shred of doubt. the situation is difficult and hard to work around, so therefore can it happen, will the relationship work? the lust is what he feels for her, the part of him that wants to surrender to what is happening. he decides to 'go with the flow' and take his chance despite that fact that doing so could cause irrevicable damage to their current relationship, he accepts that love can hurt.

Finally they kiss and the moment is complete, they each know where the other stands, they are ready to fight past the problems their relationship throws up.

probably wrong, but thats what i think :)

Correct me if the lyrics are wrong.

I think this song is alot about the feeling of lust being mixed up with love. The two people are really unsure what's going to happen past this moment that they have together but they are willing to enjoy it while it lasts. The guy is pretty unsure about what his feelings are but the girl is just waiting for him to make his decision about her.

Beautiful song. Fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The video clip is pretty awesome as well.

yup, i agree this is a very amazing song. 'the understanding' is growing on me loads. "but love without pain isn't really romance" - such a true line, i love it.

I listened a bunch of times and cross-referenced with other sites, and this is what i came up with.

Lovely song about guys who can't read girls' emotions and feelings.

a couple things wrong with your lyrics, second verse, the ocean should be devotion.

then We haven't decided should be What heaven decided

then the last verse before the last part that is repeated is:

Clouds in my head have been parted with grace By the voices of an angel revealing her face and her words they make sense 'n' I do understand Falling in love isn't part of a plan

Forces within me mix reason with lust, but I'll try to accept it and not make it worse 'cause I know I might loose it by taking the chance, (But) love without pain isn't really romance

and the last repeated part most importantly is:

Only this moment Holds us together Close to perfection Nothing else out there Always beside her Trusting my senses Deep down inside I know love will survive

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
