Lyrics for Only This Moment as interpreted by beulah

Only This Moment Lyrics
Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
No one to guide us
Lost in our senses
Deep down inside I know our love will die

Only this moment
Holds us together
Lost in confusion
Feelings are out there
Scared of devotion
Doubting intentions
Deep down inside I know our love will die

Stay or forever go
Play or you'll never know
What heaven decided
You can't deny it's
All you've been waiting for

Stay or forever go
Play or you'll never know
Your spirit's divided
You will decide if I'm
All you've been waiting for

Clouds in my head have been parted with grace
By the force of an angel revealing her face
and her words they make sense 'n' I do understand
Falling in love isn't part of the plan

Forces within me mix reasons with lust, but
I'll try to accept it and not make it worse
'cause I know I might loose you by taking the chance,
But love without pain isn't really romance

Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
Always beside her
Trusting my senses
Deep down inside I know love will survive

Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to the other
Nothing else out there
Always beside her
Trusting my senses
Deep down inside I know love will survive

Correct me if the lyrics are wrong.

I think this song is alot about the feeling of lust being mixed up with love. The two people are really unsure what's going to happen past this moment that they have together but they are willing to enjoy it while it lasts. The guy is pretty unsure about what his feelings are but the girl is just waiting for him to make his decision about her.

Beautiful song. Fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The video clip is pretty awesome as well.

yup, i agree this is a very amazing song. 'the understanding' is growing on me loads. "but love without pain isn't really romance" - such a true line, i love it.

Clouds in my head
Have been parted with grace
By the voice of an angel
Revealing her face
And her words, they make sense, and I do(n't) understand
Falling in love isn't part of the plan
Forces within me
Mix reason with lust
But I'll try to accept it and not make it worse
Cause I know I might lose it by taking the chance
But love without pain isn't really romance

I listened a bunch of times and cross-referenced with other sites, and this is what i came up with.

Lovely song about guys who can't read girls' emotions and feelings.

a couple things wrong with your lyrics, second verse, the ocean should be devotion.

then We haven't decided should be What heaven decided

then the last verse before the last part that is repeated is:

Clouds in my head have been parted with grace
By the voices of an angel revealing her face
and her words they make sense 'n' I do understand
Falling in love isn't part of a plan

Forces within me mix reason with lust, but
I'll try to accept it and not make it worse
'cause I know I might loose it by taking the chance,
(But) love without pain isn't really romance

and the last repeated part most importantly is:

Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
Always beside her
Trusting my senses
Deep down inside I know love will survive

I also love this song. And the first explanation given by beulah really nailed whatever explanation I ever gave to this song. The video is also great. There is no other song that better describes the way I felt when I was with the one person I was most in love with. And I still feel like the girl who is waiting for the final outcome.
It really captures the uncertainty that comes with the infatuation and stirred up inner emotions. But then, can you be really that infatuated and moved by a person you are not in love with? And besides, love without pain indeed is not really romance. Because the ones we love most can also hurt us the most.

hmmmmm....very great song indeed! I love it, whenever I listen to it, some emotions I try to stifle just fit into place!

Personally when I listen to this song I feel there's 2 people who met briefly by chance and werent really supposed to fall in love but everything made so much sense when they connected

They are then faced with the decision of either going on with their newfound chemistry and confronting everything else around them that might object to their being together!
The boy is trying to convince himself its just infatuation and nothing more (maybe because he's scared of falling in love and being devoted), but more and more he cant fight the clarity in his mind that its something real and true.

Oh well...thats wat songs are for hey, u have your personal take on them, this one is mine lol!

it's a brilliant song on a big letdown of an album. the key phrase is the last line in the last verse. 'love without pain isn't romance'. big fat period. they should have ended the song there and just gone out strong, you don't need the hook repeated again.

My personal take on this is similar to ilvive's -- just replace the 'two people who weren't suppose to fall in love' with 'soul mates who feel the connection, but are still unsure' -- however I do like the idea of 2 people defying fate and going for it anyway!

I've seen alot of variations for these lyrics and I believe these are the most correct with one exception. What I'd change is:

"Clouds in my head have been parted with grace
By the voices of an angel revealing her face
and her words they make sense 'n' I do understand
Falling in love isn't part of a plan"
to
"Guilt in my head hath been parted with grace
By the voice of an angel revealing her face
And her words they make sense and I do understand,
Falling in love isn’t part of a plan"

Wouldn't "falling in love isn't part of OUR plan" make more sense?

The song describes a story. A story of how two people who meet and go along with whatever chemistry they find between them. The guy apparently assumed that they were not supposed to fall in love, he shouldn't feel this way because falling in love wasn't part of the plan.

After she sings her verse stating that she's waiting and that he should play or he'll never know, he responds by saying that he's seen the light - parted by grace by the voice of an angel revealing her face (maybe the girl?). He realizes that he does want to be with her, hence why the last verse is extremely important and should not be left out as uncledub commented. The verse here changes from "scared of devotion, feeling so out there. deep down inside i know our love will die" to "always beside her. trusting my senses. deep down inside i know love will survive."

In the end he has made the decision to be with her. There are so many layers to this song, and if you watch the video and try to analyze that, there are so many more. My friends and I have come up with half a dozen scenarios and hypotheses as to what is going on in the video and how it relates to this song.

I think this song is also about enjoying every moment of your life, not thinking about what is going to happen next not thinking about anything just enjoying the moment

actually the "ambiguous" part goes like this:

Clouds in my head have been parted with twist
by the force of an angel revealing her face
and her words they make sense and I do understand
Falling in love isn't part of the plan

Forces within me mix reason with lust,
but i try to accept it and not think it works
'cause I know I might lose you by taking the chance,
But love without pain isn't really romance

-first comment on songmeanings, hope I'm doing this correctly-
When I hear songs, I usually think of a story that goes with them, but I guess you're supposed to find a meaning here, so:
It's just an encounter "only this moment", with the narrator being wary because they know "our love will die"-
they know that love isn't a pretty, perfect thing and know it's safer to stay away.
But as it goes on, it seems the love interest is also reluctant to commit. ""scared of devotion"
Yet attraction wins, calling this girl an angel, preparing for "pain" and hoping "our love will survive"
SUMMARY- knowing better but loving despite it

Genius song, rediscovered it and I am completly addicted to it at the moment.

I think (and this is probably partly based on what is going on in my life and therefore head at the moment) that the song is about two friends that harbour secret feelings for each other, but that see barriers to their relationship. However they get themselves into a situation where they are forced to confront their feelings (out dancing, up the eifel tower, what ever). In my head i have them ooking into each others eyes and guessing at what the other is feeling.

At the start the guy is overly concerned with the consequences of the relationship, what ever they may be, the entire second verse seems to me to be about him backing away, attempting to convince himself that what hes seeing from the girl isnt real, that its all in his head. he's possibly convinced himself that if he can ride out his feelings for her for longer they will eventually fade, "deep down inside i know our love will die"

The girl then sees the indecision, and steps up her part, forcing him to accept that what hes seeing is true. to me "play or you'll never know" is a refernce to the gamble he has to take to find out whether he has the chance to make something happen. She introduces the idea of fate, and that they were pre-ordaned to be together somehow, before repeating the original plea to him to take the chance, but a little uncertain of whether he will or wont, she tells him that the choice is totally his to make, a kind of 'im here if you want me' moment.

The guy then sees whats being communicated, the clouds parting is a pretty standard term for clarity taking the place of confusion, the angel obviously needs no description, and he accepts that they do have a chance at being together. The "falling in love isnt part of a (the?) plan" line, to me, seems to say that this wasnt what either of them set out for, that it has just happened, mabye it complicates their lives somewhat.

the mixing of reason with lust is his last shred of doubt. the situation is difficult and hard to work around, so therefore can it happen, will the relationship work? the lust is what he feels for her, the part of him that wants to surrender to what is happening. he decides to 'go with the flow' and take his chance despite that fact that doing so could cause irrevicable damage to their current relationship, he accepts that love can hurt.

Finally they kiss and the moment is complete, they each know where the other stands, they are ready to fight past the problems their relationship throws up.

probably wrong, but thats what i think :)
