Lyrics for Straightjacket Feeling as interpreted by BrandNew1208

Straightjacket Feeling Lyrics
Back me down from backing up
Hold your breath now it's stacking up
Etched with marks, but I can deal
And you're the problem and you can't feel
Try this on, straightjacket feeling
so maybe I won't be alone
Take back now, my life you're stealing

Yesterday was over
Today I'm fine without you
Runaway this time without you
And all I ever thought you'd be
That face is tearing holes in me again

Trust you is just one defense
off a list of others, you don't make sense
Beg me time and time again
to take you back now, but you can't win
Take back now, my life you're stealing

Yesterday was over
Today I'm fine without you
Runaway this time without you
And all I ever thought you'd be
That face is tearing holes in me again,
but today I'm fine without you
Runaway this time without you
And all the things you put me through
I'm holding on by letting go of you

And when the memory slips away
There will be a better view from here
And only lonesome you remains
and just the thought of you I fear
it falls away

Yesterday was over
Today I'm fine without you
Runaway this time without you
And all I ever thought you'd be
That face is tearing holes in me again,
but today I'm fine without you
Runaway this time without you
And all the things you put me through
I'm holding on by letting go of you

My favorite from the new album! I think the lyrics are pretty blatant: he's finally moving on.

i agree with annErocks. most if not all of the songs on their previous cd was about his heart being broken by a girl and this song is just saying that he is moving on

Does anyone think that maybe he is saying "yesterday was hell" rather than "yesterday was over?" because i think yesterday was hell would make more sense. Like yesterday was hell because he didn't have her but today he is fine with out her. To me, yesterday was over doesn't make much sense. also it sounds like he is saying hell.

Agree with EmoKid707, instead of
"yesterday was over", it is "yesterday was hell, but.."
and it's spelled "straitjacket", lol. Regardless, it's a decent song, and pretty straightforward too.

loooove this song
the last line is my favourite- "im holding on by letting go of you" like he's saying the only way of carrying on with his life is by letting go of the person he loved

Hey, well i find this wierd, everyone is giving thier own opinions of the song, but i think the point of this "SONGMEANINGS" website is to say what you think the song MEANS not what you think of it in general, because to be honest i dont think anyoneone cares what you like or dislike about the band.. just an observation

At first I also thought it was "yesterday was hell", but now I'm pretty sure it is "yesterday is over", however I like better the "hell" version. Still it is a great song.

Sounds like he broke up with his girlfriend and he is slowly getting over it. And The Lyrics Are Yesterday Was Hell...

yesterday was over? they wouldn't put that in one of their songs. first of all, yesterday IS over is grammatically correct, and yesterday WAS over doesn't make any sense. and if they did put it in there, it would run like this: "Yesterday was O..." and then blurring the second syllable into the next line "...VER. Today I'm fine."

Also, if you imagine "...hell, but" in it's place, "but" is a more suitable word to blend into the next line subtly like that, and it makes more sense with the rest of the song, because he's comparing YESTERDAY and TODAY, and correct me if I'm wrong.... When I compare two things in a sentence, I usually put BUT in the middle....

Plus, he does say "but today I'm fine" indefinitely later on in the song, when the chorus is extended with "and all the things you put me through, i'm holding on by letting go of you."

So, if he said "but" there, he more than likely said it earlier at the beginning of the chorus, following the "Yesterday was hell"

I rest my case. Now change the damn lyrics.
