definitely about a relationship. seems that they are on the verge of breakup. (i think we're taking this too far) and she is saying that she didn't knwo they would end up like this. i think the main message is that even though they are breaking up, she still thinks he is a good person.

amazing song.
Hayley's voice is just beautiful..

to me this song is about the verge of a breakup, or the thought of a breakup after an arguement.
and how unexpected it can be, like one minutes fine and then the next it goes the complete opposite way.
"and it it ends today, well i'll still say that you shine brighter than anyone".
i think the message is that no matter what happens, she'll still love him.
and she'll still think the best and the most of him.
just how i interpreted the lyrics.

to me, its about this girl who loves this guy, and they have so much potential being together, and shes saying its not that hard to take the step from bestfriends to lovers. but if he decides to turn her down and just walk away from a ruined friendship that was a former strong running relationship, she would still love him inrequittedly, like she's always been doing (but not telling him). like, whatever he decides to do with them, she'll always think of him as the one. he'll always have her heart, and he'll always stand out from the crowd. he doesnt look any different, hes typical looking, but she sees his AURA.

hey, im not saying this is how i see the song was written. cause its actually far from what i thinkits really about, which is gracemaexo and lalalalisa said. this is only how i can relate to the song. but the relationship of lovers is deffinately correct, its just that through my experience, another meaning is found

This song for me is like what I went through, even when I broke up with my girl friend, even in saying "goodbye" i still kinda loved her feeling as if I'd never find someone else who would quite love me like her, or replace her.

I have a very close friend. he's the only one that ever believed in me, and with this guy, I just feel so, right, in a world where I usually feel wrong. but he lives 3 hours away from me, so I can only see him every once in a while. But whenever I have to leave him and his family, I just get so sad, and I feel incomplete again.

To me, the verses of this song are me telling the guy what I think about him and how I feel about leaving him and how I was so surprised that I would be so attatched to him. And how I think he's better than anyone I know.

Then the chorus is his response to what I'm saying to and about him. How I shouldn't feel so bad evertime we must part ways.
And the bridge and outro is him telling me That I can shine too, and that I really do belong in this world, with or without him.

You guys probably don't understand. But whenever I hear this song, I think of that guy. I'm not gay or anything, he was just veryvery close to me, and it kills me that he lives 2,000 light years away.

I def. think this is about a relationship that is possibly nearing the end, as i first heard it the day after my b/f and i broke up.. it was so fitting, therefore i agree its about a break up. x

I always thought that this song was about the cliched two people that hated each other and then become friends in secret or something, but in the end, they have to leave it there, even though they love each other.

All "It's not this hard," is the denial, where they try to go back to hating each other by separating their things and pretending that there's nothing special in the friendship ("Taking this too far").

But, underneath the whole thing, as they're walking away from each other, they're both like..."Damn. He/she didn't do anything to show me that he/she loved me, but I still love him/her."

This is my favourite song off All We Know Is Falling =) I definitely think it's about a couple breaking up, but they still love each other [I agree with fuzzypenguins]- it does say "And if it ends today/I'd still say that you shine brighter than anyone" which I think is pretty direct.

in the liner notes of the album, it says in memory of someone (i forget their name) and then it says under it "you shine brighter than anyone"

like Peace said on the liner notes of the album it says (In Memory of Lanie Kealhofer) "You shine brighter than anyone" 11.24.88 5.22.05" i think this song was about a friend that was realy close to Hayley and the band that passed away.

It means having to say goodbye to someone though you really think he's the best. Maybe you fell out of love or maybe certain situations just prevent your love from progressing.
