Lyrics for Emergency as interpreted by BrandNew1208

Emergency Lyrics
I think we have an emergency
I think we have an emergency
If you thought I'd leave then you were wrong
Cause I won't stop holding on
So are you listening?
So are you watching me?
If you thought I'd leave then you were wrong
Cause I won't stop holding on
This is an emergency, so are you listening?
And I can't pretend that I don't see this

It's really not your fault
No one cares to talk about it
To talk about it

Cause I've seen love die way too many times
When it deserves to be alive
(When it deserves to be alive)
I've seen you cry way too many times
When you deserve to be alive
Alive

So you give up every chance you get
Just to feel new again
I think we have an emergency
I think we have an emergency
And you do your best to show me love
But you don't know what love is
So are you listening?
So are you watching me?
Well, I can't pretend that I don't see this

It's really not your fault
No one cares to talk about it
To talk about it

Cause I've seen love die way too many times
When it deserves to be alive
(When it deserves to be alive)
I've seen you cry way too many times
When you deserve to be alive
Alive

These scars, they will not fade away

No one cares to talk about it
To talk about it

Cause I've seen love die way too many times
When it deserves to be alive
(When it deserves to be alive)
I've seen you cry way too many times
When you deserve to be alive
Alive

I was at Cornerstone Festival in Illinois, up late getting a funnel cake, and as I'm walking back to my tent, i heard this beautiful sound from across the river. I followed the sound to the stage where Paramore was playing. Not only was I blown away by their performance, but I think i fell in love with Hayley, the lead singer. She's an amazing vocalist and her energy in a live show is just lovely. Paramore's a pretty great band, and this is probably my favorite song of them that I've heard. I've preordered their CD already, and I'm highly anticipating its arrival late in July. I have high expectations for this band and you should too. Check them out, you won't be wasting your time.

Well BrokenParadise.. that was a very well written tale. However, I discovered this band less than half an hour ago in one of my stay-up-all-night-and-find-new-music quests. And here I am, with my first songmeanings comment and my first Paramore comment!
This was the first song I downloaded by Paramore and it simply amazed me. And I just love the line "I've seen love die way too many times
when it deserved to be alive" Simply fabulous.

I found out about this band a few months ago.. early summerish or so.. and have loved them since. Hayley's voice is AMAZING.. I saw an acoustic video of this earlier and I was just like "wow..." because there they are just singing.. and it sounds so. good. This song is so good.. and it means a bunch to me because of relationships I've seen fall apart.

I read the song, and it's probably off... but what I got was that the person grew up around a parent, probably mother, who had a lot of trouble with love. Possibly split parents, or most likley they just weren't in love. She grew up seeing this, but never getting to express anything, or ask anything about it.

"Cause I've seen love die way too many times, when it deserved to be alive. I've seen you cry, way too many times when you deserved to be alive."

When I read that line I don't think of a guy I feel bad for, or something, I think of my mom. Because that happened to my mom and I. Is happening. And she can't see it, but it has such an effect on me.. I know it does. I've just started to see it.

Also, "The Tide," by The Spill Canvas reminds me of my mom. She hasn't neglected me quite like that song, but she has a lot like this song. It's not really she 'negelected' me as bad as the stroy of the mother in "The Tide," or even this one, becuase we talk about it.. but I know it doesn't make it any better.

"And you do your best to show me love, but you don't know what love is,"

The parent tries to raise the kid normally, show them love, but the kid knows all along what life (for her, or the mother, or whoever) is reall like.

Those are the correct lyrics.
I think it's about someone having a broken heart, and it being an emergency to the new love in his/her life..
Paramore's amazing.

Well as for a background I just stumbled on to there Pressure song and downloaded the rest. This is one of my more favorite ones.

For what I think, its deffinitly about somone being in love, but what gets me is that like the perspective changes. First it talked about someone saying I've seen love die and then it says ive seen you cry.

Imma have to go with the whole broken heart thing tho cus I dont kno this song touched me alot.

i have heard hayley talking about this one in the acoustic versio of the song.
she explained that the song is about divorce. 2 members of the band had parents who were divorced and this is about that.

"No one cares to talk about it,
talk about it"
- nobody ever likes to talk about the possibility of divorce in a family, so its hard for the ones actually involved.

"I've seen you cry way too many times
when you deserve to be alive, alive"
-probably her mother who is upset by the whole thing, or just the parent who did not initiate the

However, the real meaning of the song was now given by lalalalisa, I shall give my own interpretation of the song... because I simply want to and can to! >:D Bwuahahaha...

Anyways, for me, this song means..--well, let me rephrase that.

The singer is singing about and to a person who, in my opinion, has lost faith in love. I don't know why, but it just interprets it that way to me.

By the way she was singing "I've seen love die way too many times when it deserves to be alive I've seen you cry way too many times when you deserve to be alive"

I was more on thinking that Hayley's [she's such a great singer by the way! ^_^ not like the screaming bunch of lunatics out there nowadays x_x hehe] singing about "you" having such a great relationship with another person--let's say love--then "you" are holding back because of what "you"ve seen love has become (which is... pretty much crap) and then.. the latter part of the chorus, I feel is saying that "you" have come through alot of stuffs and have wasted mroe than enough time believing that love is a sham that "you deserve to be alive".

If you get my drift...

Anyway, if you don't... that's how I just interpret this song anyways.

OHMAGOD!!!! THIS SONG IS FRICKING AMAZING!!! I've like had it downloaded for ages but never actually listened to it and for some random reason i decided to listen to it and its flipping awesome!!!!! I stumbled across paramore randomly on the fueled by ramen website and they seemed cool! So yea anyway i'm kind of going off the point.

SO

Yea ... i got the feeling that there is a loss of faith in love (which i can so totally relate to.) Whether its a person loosing faith in love due to a divorce of his/her parents (again i can relate to that.)
'I've seen love die way too many times
when it deserved to be alive
(deserved to be alive)
I've seen you cry way too many times
when you deserve to be alive, alive'

OR

the person loosing faith in love because of heartbreak and deciet (once again im feeling a relation)
'If you thought I'd leave then you were wrong
'cause I won't stop holding on
Are you listening?'

ANYWAY

this song is awesome ... listening to it on constant repeat ... LOVE PARAMORE!!!!

xXx

PARENTS' DIVORCE. (or in my case, parents splitting up. In the Philippines, there's no divorce)

some people see this as a relationship with a boy gone wrong. i see that. but...

this is the song that fits perfectly into place for my parents. each word is a direct relation to my feelings.

"i wont stop holding on.." -if my parents think id just leave it like that, i wont. i wont stop holding on, i wont let go of a hope that they would get back together. so im wondering if theyr listening, thats its not okay for them to leave things this way.

"i can't pretend that i dont see this"-for a few years they fooled me into thinking nothign was wrong. i was so young. so clueless. 9 years old, have they no consideration? dont they thinki would find ot in the first place? my mom keeps insisting nothing is wrong. i finally told her im not a little kid. im 16 and old enogh to see that something IS wrong, and i cant keep pretending that i dont notice, they cant keep humoring me. so they admitted they werent together. they just said "we're not together" which leads me to my next explanation..

"no one cares to talk about it"-none of them bother to explain things. specially bedfore, no one cares to talk about it like they should. they shouldve thought of me, not being a guillable child they used to fool. they shouldve been more mature about it.

"i've seen love die, way too many times"-last year i was never happier. they tried to fix things again. i kind of played matchmaker. it was like The Parent Trap. the difference with that movie and my situation is. the movie had a happy ending. mine went down once more. thats why they are called movies and realities. reality sucks so much they make fantasy worlds int he big screen. ive seen the potential love die way too many times, when it shoudlve been alive. we all deserved a new start of the family. its like they give up so easily.

and they try to show me love, but they dont know what love is.

they think material things would equal love. i need them, both, in my life with full support. they dont get that. love is not about my tuition fee. i just wanted them to be there the times i need them most (which is like, now, at 16, come one...this is like, adolescence)

but no. i can never accept theyr love as the way i did when i had my parents in a family.

i can never love them individually as much as i loved them both when they were together.

WHY did they add screaming to the EP version? It sounds TERRIBLE, and is so unecessary.

Its great hearing a female singer who actually has some strength and energy in her songs. Usually female singers sing about how they are nothing without a boyfriend, complain complain, etc. Hayley has an amazing voice. Definatly a band worth listening too! I love this song along with 'Pressure', 'Franklin', and 'Brighter'.

First off, for such a young band, these kids know how to rock. I still find it funny that my friend calls them "The Pennsylvania Band From Tennessee."(inside joke)

Anywho, This song has always called out to me as more of a statement about most relationships: They always fail because of a lack of communication or apathy. (i.g. "I've seen love die way too many times
when it deserved to be alive", "it's really not your fault, No one cares to talk about it", "And you do your best to show me love...So are you listening? So are you watching me?")

Whole song pretty much sums up my current relationship with my dad.
But that won't change the fact that this band can only get better. Nor does the fact that Hayley's hot. If only I weren't four years younger. :(
