Lyrics for Revolve as interpreted by pressreset

Revolve Lyrics
A revolution has begun today for me inside
The ultimate defense is to pretend
Revolve around yourself just like an ordinary man
The only other option: to forget

Does it feel like we've never been alive?
Does it seem like it's only just begun?

Defy yourself
Just look inside the wreckage of your past
To lose it all all you have to do it lie
The policy is set and we are never turning back

It's time for execution
Time to execute
It's time for execution
Time to execute

Does it feel like we've never been alive?
Does it seem like it's only just begun?
Does it feel like we've never been alive inside?
Does it seem like it's only just begun?
It's only just begun

The evolution is coming
A revolution has begun (It has begun)
The evolution is coming
A revolution has you

The evolution is coming
A revolution has begun (Has begun)
The evolution is coming
A revolution has you

wow, why has no one else commented on this song? This is one of my favorites from 30 seconds to mars. I think I know what they are talking about, it is just hard to explain. I like songs about this that make you think.

I think it's about growing up and shedding all of the stupid emotional attitudes of childhood and young adulthood.

Technically called R-Evolve. And ironically, my CD is smack-bang in the middle of it.

Wow, the guitar in this song, especially in the beginning, sounds exactly like the guitar in Blink 182's "Adam's Song".

Beautiful song.
To me, it's about those precious moments where your worldview is shaken and the world seems to literally stop. You experience something physically, emotionally, or spiritually stunning or traumatic that causes you to rethink everything about the world and your place in it. And it makes you feel like you're finally alive - like life finally has meaning.
But it's hard to do something about it, and I think this song does a great job relating the struggle that occurs within you at that moment. Because at that moment you have to decide if you're going to change your life for the better or if you're going to go back to living your life the same as its always been, taking everything for granted.
Hopefully we choose the internal revolution. Hopefully we choose to evolve.

I've put this song on probably 4 cd's now.. That means it's rated fairly high on a scale of 1 to awesome. Probably darn near awesome.

He's realized that its easier to pretend you're someone that you aren't. That's his "revolution" and that's why he sings,

"To find yourself just look inside the wreckage of your past
To lose it all you have to do is lie."

"Does it feel like we've never been alive?
Does it seem like it's only just begun?"

Once you've covered up your past and lied about who you really are, it feels like you were never alive and that it's only just begun.

I love this song and that's what I like to think it means.

i think this song is about knowing you can't change the past.
and that with the choices you make, predict your future.
and that some decisions are not the best and some are.
but no matter what, you can't change them.

If I listen to this song I always get the feeling that I'm quite small. Like I'm something that doesn't really matter but still is here. Makes me cry. I've got that with a lot of songs but ot every time I hear the song.

My impression is actually the exact opposite of Mithra's. I want to do world changing things when I hear this.

I think the lyrics say
"to find yourself
just look into the wreckage of your past"

It means that you are who you are because of what went on in the past.

I agree with Echelonxx and it also suggests that the past is the past and you can move on (all you have to do is Lie). This is my fave 30STM song and the energy and lift I get from listening to the chorus does make me feel alive

It sounds like someone who's had a bad past and wants to let go of it and start again:
'A revolution has begun today for me inside
The ultimate defense is to pretend
Revolve around yourself just like an ordinary man
The only other option: to forget'

And that it would be too easy to forget and move on:
'Defy yourself
Just look inside the wreckage of your past
To lose it all all you have to do it lie
The policy is set and we are never turning back'

How there are people out there who want to undermine people and it's a 'kill or be killed' situation:
'It's time for execution
Time to execute
It's time for execution
Time to execute'

While after you've forgotten you can live properly for the first time:
'Does it feel like we've never been alive?
Does it seem like it's only just begun?
Does it feel like we've never been alive inside?
Does it seem like it's only just begun?
It's only just begun'

And how your life has changed:
'The evolution is coming
A revolution has begun (It has begun)
The evolution is coming
A revolution has you'
