I love this song. My independent local radio station, 96 Wave, plays this song all the time. The Fray are such a great band. They're coming to Charleston next month and I'm going to see them. Can't wait to hear their other stuff.

wow, close on the timing, they are from here in Denver and they have a great show, I saw the last show before they started recording the album, and I was blown away. I love this song because of it's soft sound and powerful images.

The first time I heard this song, I liked it from the start. Then the "I wish you were a stranger I could disengage" line came on, and I was completely sold. This is the first and only song I've ever purchased online. SO GOOD.

Also, I just saw them in Maine... if you get the chance, go see them live. They're amazing (and way more impressive than Weezer).

This song was partially written about Isaac's brother Caleb (Caleb/Cable). It's also partially about Isaac's time in his High School Knowledge Bowl and how he felt about it.

this song is wonderful. it means a whole lot to me, due to the fact the words are incredibly genuine. i was sung this song once. not for a break up or anything but it had good reasoning and what not. the best line is:
"I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along"

i love this song very much. His voice is so amazing! He sings like he means it.
What's the thing about 8 seconds left in overtime? Why is it saying on YOUR mind and not on MY mind? Is it like the girl's cheating on him so she's on someone else's mind too, so they're like broken up, but he's still in love with her? I don't know. Tell me what you think.

I like this song a lot. I think the 8 seconds left in overtime means that there was a second chance, after messing up, of the singer having this girl back, and he doesn't have much time left to change it. and I do agree this is a breakup song. it's a good song though.

I'm not sure this is a breakup song. I think it might be, but I think it more portrays a guy's addiction with a girl.

"With 8 seconds left in overtime, she's on your mind."

I think that means that he's in love with this girl so much, that even with 8 seconds left in overtime that determines the outcome of the game, he's still thinking of her. It always makes me think of a guy shooting a free throw shot with 8 seconds left on the clock, his heart pounding, and all he can think of is this girl.

Maybe I'm totally confused. But either way, this song is amazing.

I think that this song is about a guy who wants to be with this girl, but he knows that it is not a possibility and that no mater what he does he know that he will become "part of her past", and despite all this he still hangs on, even though he is over his head and has no chance he still cant help but to think of her ever moment, even with 8 seconds left in the game there she is on his mind.
that is what i thank anyways.

I've heard this song a few times on the radio, then I decided to check them out on PureVolume. The flow of this song is great, and I love the chorus. I really hope to see more from this band.

I agree with pretty much everyones meanings. I seen this song/video on tv the other night for the first time and I fell in love with it. I was talking to my good friend about what's going on in my relationship at that very moment and this song was so dead on with what's happening from my view. Scary dead on. The lyrics are brilliant!

lol i know it seems silly but it made him sound like he was a qb and everyone was waiting for him to dicide what they were doing while everything else was falling through and he felt he was in over his head becasue of the pressure.
