Hey everybody where did Mary go
where did Mary go? and where's my only cigarette?
Please think for me, I can't bear to
I'll just lie here for a while

Wet myself, wet my bed
I readied it all for her, you know
Clean sheets, incense and lots of fluffy pillows - now soiled
Hey, where's my cigarette?

Did you check the bathroom, the bathtub,
she sleeps there sometimes,
water cleanses you know,
washes dirt away, makes new

maybe she swam away

- ok, alright, now what?

Song Meaning:This song was STP playing around. It is also about masterbation and sex... and yes it's also about his ex wife....

My Interpretation:I don't know if this is what the song was supposed to be about or not but the general disconnected creepiness of the song and the way he keeps wondering where Mary went, stating that he needs someone to think for him because he can't bear to and the way he keeps thinking she might be in the bathtub makes me think that he might have killed her in an alcohol/drug fueled rage and on some subconscious level, he knows this but is trying to remain in denial as long as possible.

General Comment:crazy how scott uses marys name( his ex wife ) in this song back when they were just friends during the recording of core and how like 8 years later they eventually wed ... btw i know this bc i heard an interview with mary on youtube where she says this while promoting the book she wrote

General Comment:yeah the "now what" is actually the end of crackerman, but ive seen the two songs together as one track on some cds so ive always assumed theyre meant to be connected.

General Comment:i think its just total randomness, kind of a joke. scotts just pretending to be stoned and saying a load of spooky shit. and its creepy as hell. lol. you can hear them all laughing at the end then someone goes "now what?"... i think thats great, it shows you stps sense of humor that even they know how weird this song is

General Comment:this was the first recored song for Core. Robert and Scott were just fucking around, recorded it in the bathroom, and then Brenden Obrian (producer) comes in and says now what

General Comment:I absolutely love this song, despite its odd qualities. :] There's something completely different about it. The feel is lethargic, and awkward at best.
