Lyrics for The Darkest Nights as interpreted by emerica69

The Darkest Nights Lyrics
for so long i have felt alone
content to live with unrest
longing faded into countless nights
that buried my weary heart
but You brought an end
to this head hour
and meaning to a calloused life
held in Your arms
but too far from my heart
these thoughts will carry me through
the darkest nights
while Your eyes rest in mine
i remember the way You looked at me
and the way You drew me close
with one deep sigh
scattering pieces of my restless mind
forgetting all that we have left behind

"You brought an end
to this head hour
and meaning to a calloused life
held in Your arms
but too far from my heart
these thoughts will carry me through
the darkest nights
while Your eyes rest in mine
i remember the way You looked at me
and the way You drew me close
with one deep sigh" - This whole part describes how my girlfriend brought happiness into my life no matter of wat bad things have happened just by looking in her eyes......

this song is about God, see how he says "You" and "Your" the Y is capitalized which shows that he is referring to God. Amazing song.

I don't know about the whole God thing...It could be capitalized because it's a specific person..I just don't think he'd say some of those things about God...It sounds more like a girlfriend or something...Like "While your eyes rest in mine" and "the way you drew me close"...It sounds like a female to me...If it was God, it would seem a bit awkward with the staring like lovers at eachother...

Whether it's God or a girl, it's about someone helping get through hard times which is a pretty cool message with a song so awesomely played. I especially love the beginning of the song, it's so badass. We are so grateful of you, As I Lay Dying.

i'm just starting to get into this band, though now i'm watchin intently, this song has stirred somethin in me that i thought was long dead, perhaps it's not too late for forgiveness, or perhaps i don't want it, either way, this band has struck a chord in me that no band has. amazing, simply astounding.

It's simple: its about how God carries him through the worst of times.

Yes the are a christian band, and i believe this song is about JESUS or GOD helpin him during his hard times he has been through. were he says "these thoughts" i thought he said jesus. i think it would of been better if he would of said jesus instead of these thoughts. it would of been better with the song.
MY OWN OPINION

I can totally understand other people not understanding how this is a song about God, but when you and God are really close like Lambesis and God are, it's like a relationship deserving of such lyrics.

After all God did make Lambesis one of the worlds' greatest guitarists

My brother and i saw tis video and we were like HOLY FUCK. My brother said that he felt the video was about jesus or someting...I think it(and the song) are about someone or something helping him, or on a negative note, giving him a false hope to believe in through is pain or something.

now i see what you are all saying and such but aild is such a christian just about every song is about god but tim says that they are also love songs but if he used the word "God" it just alienate non christians so thats why people can say its about a chick but chances are when HE wrote it it was about God but it could be interpreted anyway... i just think it's a cool song

I'm pretty sure it's about God, many of there other songs are spiritual as it is. And the music video portrays a very Biblical message. The love of God is infinately more intimated than the love of a man and a women. However I do see why this is confussing, the Bible does say the the love/marriage between a man and women is the closest imitation of Gods love.

if you guys hate the band so much, why are you reading and commenting on the lyrics? or did you just decide that you hated them after you found out they're singing about God?

Actually they aren't singing about God. I am pretty sure this is about a girl. It would be blasphemic refering this song to god. Maybe he strengthened his belief in god through the girl he is talking about, but i don't think there are other references to god

i agree with ryan3113ozma both lyric and the video are religious it has nothing to do with a girl at least not the video.
