Lyrics for Confined as interpreted by emerica69

Confined Lyrics
that night i never came home
wandering souls captured my thoughts
emptiness filled my mind
urgency spoke her lies
in the confines of these grey walls
i watched them move together
taking me places i cannot remember
we have been poured out
into a loveless bride
how quickly i forget
that this is meaningless
in a world passing through my fingers
i still chase the wind
what have i learned from yesterday

Thi song might be about the fact that we live a meaningless life. Everything makes sense to us but "urgency spoke her lies", so if we take the time to think about it, everything we do is meaningless and senseless.

Yeah, i agree with Ollo AILD...I think its just a realiztation that everything we do just allows life to pass by. We just watch it and dont understand or live it to the fullest possibly?

i dont know. all these ideas may not corralate. i just thought that last part meant, like i a world passing through my fingers i still chase the wind. i thought the wind is the unseen aka GOD. i this world i passing through our finger, kinda like the song undifined on frail words collapse. christians seem to somtimes forget that this (this world) is meaningless so they try to prepare treasure on earth rather than preparing treasures in heaven. another thang, when tit says poured out into a loveless bride. we spoke about this i church at one time. but i cant remember. the phrase is used i the B-I-B-L-E. a number of times. so yeah. jesus christ is lord, yo!!!

song is obviously about not falling for the unecessary needs from earth, mankind, etc... u can see when it says "in a world that is passing through my fingers, i still chase the wind.." its kind of showing how u have to look past the people who say that believing and following christianity is a waste of time, kind of like chasing the wind, u cant catch it so its meaningless..

"The night I never came home wandering souls captured my thoughts. Emptiness filled my mind..." Starting there I think that this means ultimately feeling depressed; Feeling thoughts of lonliness and anger at yourself. "Urgency spoke her lies in the confines of these grey walls." Our elusive 'Her' is a generalization of anything that makes us believe the lie that we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel worse. "I watched them move together; Taking me places I cannot remember." 'Them' in this case is the walls; So a sense of dizziness is created, probably from the empty feeling left inside from 'her' lies that 'she' keeps telling him. "We have been poured out into a loveless bride." Our 'bride' (This I am skeptic on a bit, and am open for correction.) I think this is in the definition of us living with and in the world. Treating it as a 'bride' after consumation. Which, the world has no love, it is an existence for our sociality. Which lead to the next lines..."How quickly I forget that this is meaning less. In a world passing through my fingers, I still chase the wind." These lines bouce off eachother in a parallelism; Living in a 'loveless bride' is meaningless and chasing after the hope of finding love in the world is meaningless. "What have I learned from yesterday?" Self-explanitory...Asking yourself what you've learned. Trying to learn that love does not come easy, and all love must be nurtured.

God Bless-

since we question from the bible, the "wind" we chase and living a meaningless life on Earth, comes from the entire book of Ecclesiastes: the whole book talk about how living without God is meaningless. and chasing the wind is meaningless. incredible book, the entire book is awesome, heck the entire Bible is awesome

yes this song may be about how meaningless we live our lives, but to me it speaks about what the bible(the "wind" he so speaks about) has chosen the path for what we should do in life if we wanted to be redeemed into heaven, what i find stupid is how people think that life is meaningless. It'll turn out meaningless if you do the mindless robotic things society, religion, and customs that we are being pushed to follow. Make YOUR own path in life, do what you choose. Life Is Never Meaningless, Just Make It Your Life Goal To See That It Is Not.

This songs about realizing that what youve been doing over the years is completely and utterly meaningless. you come to a point in your life when you realize what the world's truly about and you dont like it one bit. The walls he talks about are his own personal demons and being confined is not understanding why pain has to happen. He has a time in his life when he wants to just push everything away and not have an explanation from anyone, just the fact that every bit of it is meaningless.

This song is about sin and how it consumes us. When it consumes we don't see anything infront of us. It sends us deeper into the flesh prison. Person may understand that it is meaningless. But no matter what he knows, what other people tell him, or what God tells him, he still chases the wind.

"I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind."
--Ecclesiastes 1:14

This song is about how life outside of God is impersonal, purposeless, and meaningless. For life outside of God, all that has been done is gone once death comes, and ultimately life's work amonts to absolutely nothing.

Like the first person said, this is straight out of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. In there, the author talks about how everything is meaningless and a "chasing after the wind". This is a great song.

"In this song "home" is a place of purpose and vision. This song is about losing that sense of purpose and being caught up in the meaningless things of this life, like materialism and the temporary emotions that control our thoughts and actions. As easily as I identify these meaningless things, I often catch myself being emptied into these passionless desires. There is such a strong sense of urgency for everything that we do in life, but how many of these urgent tasks will last long enough to justify our efforts?
II began to ask myself that same question while looking out the window beyond the grey walls of our tour van. There are so many places we have gone that I will never forget, but that same van has taken me to countless cities in pursuit of what I will never be able to take with me beyond this life" - Tim Lambesis

I'll tell you something that's not meaningless. As I Lay Dying's lyrics. The lyrics are awesome and Christian-based. This song especially has a great message. Seeing as my life certainly does seem meaningless without Jesus.

When he says "wandering souls captured my thoughts", I think he means that people who aren't saved (wandering souls) are bothering him, whether it be something they said, whatever. Whatever they said or did was on his mind. When he watched the walls move closer, that is his mind being overwhelmed with these thoughts and worries. Then he realizes that all this is meaningless and doesn't matter. The last line says "What have I learned from yesterday?" To me, that means that yesterday (before he found God) he learned things, but all this is meaningless so it didn't mean anything. And now that he has found God, he can now learn things that actually matter. IMO.
