I have also heard that this song was written for Novak, but as people have commented earlier, it is about relationships. However, I take it in the context of like someone who just sleeps with whoever because they are lonely and just need human contact. Its like taking asprin for an injury; it doesn't make the injury go away, it just kills the pain aka covers it up, until you allow yourself to heal. No dispute though, this is one of the best songs I have ever heard.

I heard that this song was in reference to ban margera's friend, brandon novak. For those who dont know, Novak is a constant drug user, and this song was written about how he kills the loneliness with pills and shit, I don't know, I saw it on wikipedia, or something. But if you have heard of him, then apply this song to novak's situation

Easily one of HIM's best songs (IF NOT THE BEST). Certainly the best of the Dark Light album. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Ville Valo has got a voice to envy. If I had his voice, I'd give my girl orgasms just by chatting to her! By far the best band to ever grace the earth

Ok, so im 100% sure this song was influence by/ written about Brandon Novaks drug addictiong.. because when he was struggling through a rough time with drugs, ville asked Novak why he does heroine, and Novak quoted
"It kills the loneliness"

Okay, this is one that I tackle a lot. The boys in HIM are NOT Satanic. Yes they were once called His Infernal Majesty, but when they began to become accused of Satanism, they shortened it to HIM. Valo has stated that it is "silly" to worship the devil, and that he worships Black Sabbath (typical Valo humor). He also said that if he's anything he's pagan.

So NO, they are not trying to bring down God or uplift Satan. So don't worry, you don't like a Satanic Band. If you have any other HIM related questions feel free to ask. Fan for 5 years, plenty o' HIM knowledge.

Its about doing heroin to kill your loneliness.

Ville Valo, frontman of Finnish rock band HIM, wrote "Killing Loneliness" about Brandon Novak's addiction to heroin. In an interview Valo stated that when he asked Novak why he used the drug, Novak replied "It was my way of 'Killing Loneliness'"

sorry guys but all yall are wrong!!! like i dont really like HIM but this song is written about brandon novak, hes a friend of brandon margare...the lead singer wrote this about brandon novak bc at the time he was going thorw and hard time with crack and stuff so its like killing the lonliness you have that makes you do it....you get it?

Ville has actually TOLD us what this song is about. Suposedly it was written for/ about Brandon Novak and his addiction to heroin, when asked why it was that Novak started shooting heroin he answered "It's how I kill my lonliness" So... I'm gonna trust that Ville was telling the truth =]

While i think ALL songs by HIM are amazing, i have to say, this song as well as the album Dark Light, is definately not their best. in fact it may be their worst. Still a good song tho, as well as a good album, just not their best. any way i think the song is all about killing and ridding yourself of thee bad memories from a past love with the love of a present one.

This song is not about love it is about Bam's friend Novak he was in to a bad drug and that is what it is the drug killing the loneliness that Novak. Novak has a lot of stuff happen to him and that is what it is about.
