I blew it
And if I knew what to do, then I'd do it
But the point that I have, I'll get to it
And forever for her is over for me
Forever, just the word that she said that means never
To be with another together
And with the weight of a feather it tore into me
Then I knew it
All the work that it took to get through it
On the wings of a feather that flew it
Fell onto my shoe it cut up into me

Well, everybody's reaction is changing you
But their love is only a fraction of what I can give to you
So let's do it, just get on a plane and just do it
Like the birds and the bees and get to it
Just get out of town and forever be free
Forever, I wonder we could stay together
It could change if you want for the better
Just turn down my shirt and lay down next to me

I blew it
And if I knew what to do, then I'd do it
But the point that I have, I'll get to it
And forever for her is over for me
Forever, just the word that she said that means never
To be with another together
And with the weight of a feather it tore into me

Well, everybody's reaction is changing you
But their love is only a fraction of what I can give to you
Well, let's do it, let's get on a plane and just do it
Like the birds and the bees and get to it
Just get out of town and forever be free
Forever, I wonder we could stay together
It could change if you want for the better
Just tug at my shirt and lay down next to me

General Comment:This is just my personal interpretation of the song. I am experiencing this exact situation right now and i cant stop listening to this song.

    "I blew it
And if I knew what to do, then I'd do it
But the point that I have, I'll get to it
And forever for her is over for me
Forever, just the word that she said that means never
    To be with another together"

I think he broke up with her and realises later on that it was a mistake. he is willing to do all he can to fix it and have her back but its too late and nothing can be done because although she still loves him she is with someone else and she is finally happy again.

"And with the weight of a feather it tore into me
    Then I knew it
All the work that it took to get through it
On the wings of a feather that flew it
Fell onto my shoe it cut up into me"

the weight of a feather being almost nothing so it tore into him but not a physical wound because a feather couldnt do that yet he is still in the most pain he ever has experienced. he thinks back on all the problems in the past that they overcame and the work they had to put into it. there relationship use to have wings fand fly high but now it has came crashing down at his feet(shoe) and the pain is killing him.

"Well, everybody's reaction is changing you
But their love is only a fraction of what I can give to you"

he is lonely and seeks company in family and friends who are all giving him different advice and trying to help him move on. he appreciates there love but isnt content because the love he wants to give to her and recieve back is much greater than the sum of everyone elses.

"So let's do it, just get on a plane and just do it
Like the birds and the bees and get to it
Just get out of town and forever be free
Forever, I wonder we could stay together
It could change if you want for the better
Just turn down my shirt and lay down next to me"

this is where it is more of a personal interpretation. when he says lets do it he is talking to himself, encouraging himself to leave and go somewhere where everything isnt full of memories of her. he wants to find new people and new places and be free of the past for awhile. he knows that nothing can happen now but when he is in the same town as her he cant resist fighting for her love. telling her he can change and that he will never leave her, be with her "forever".

I hope you appreciate my interpretation. . .

General Comment:AnonymousLove, I've seen your comments on 'Little People' and you seem a tad obsessed with child molestation... Worrying?

I think this song is about him being scared to commit, but then realising he's ready and that it's the right thing too late ("I blew it"), so then he begs her to just do it (get married). But then there's definitely some sex in there ("Like the birds and the bees and get to it") Maybe meaning to consummate their love with it meaning something rather than just physicial gratification.

General Comment:I love the line "So just tug on my shirt and lay down next to me." It's just weird, it sounds like she's aprehensive about being with him..and also being with him in an intimate sense, so he tells her that whenever she's ready just "tug on my shir and lay next to me".

General Comment:I think this song is about leaving a significant other and then realizing you've screwed up and trying to get that person back.

    A couple key passages:

"I blew it" = the realization you've screwed up.

"And if I knew what to do, then I'd do it" = If you've ever been in this situation you know exactly what Jack is talking about. You want to fix the situation, but its out of your control and you don't know what to do, nor is there anything you can do.

    "To be with another together
And with the weight of a feather it tore into me" = the significant other has moved on, is with another person, and just the (weighless) thought of it tears you apart.

"Well, everybody's reaction is changing you
But their love is only a fraction of what I can give to you" = If you ever gone through a nastry breakup, the friends and family always console the victim and tell them they will be better of in the long run. After awhile, hear their "reaction" does change your opinion even though it might be a short term fix.

I dunno I went through a divorce a couple years ago and this just seemed to make sense.

Someone messed up and instead of moving on they realized what they lost and are trying to get it back.

Longing for that person to once again "Just turn down my shirt and lay down next to me"

General Comment:Completely 100% agree with DangerAddy. This song is for Renee. Jack is pleading with her to not allow the media and Hollywood influence to call of the relationship. "Get on a plane and get out of Hollywood and be with me" is the point he's trying to make.

General Comment:One day I was listening to this song and a crazy idea just popped in my head and wouldn't go away. It sounds like it's a child molestor dad who is kidnapping his daughter. Crazy, right?
The lines, "Well, everybody's reaction is changing you But their love is only a fraction of what I can give to you" Is the dad telling his daughter that he loves her more than anybody ever will even though there are people who know what he's doing and they are telling her it isn't right. And their reactions are making her realize that what he's doing is wrong.

The lines, "So let's do it, just get on a plane and just do it. Like the birds and the bees and get to it
Just get out of town and forever be free." Is the dad telling her that they should run away to another place where people(like the law) don't know what's going on.

I'm pretty sure that's not what the song is about but that's what came to my twisted mind. Please don't kill me for writing that. lol

General Comment:I think this song is about Jack, Renee, and the media.

    "I blew it
And if I knew what to do, then I'd do it"

Jack messed up but he didn't do anything wrong, if he knew what he had done he'd fix it.

"But the point that I have, I'll get to it"

He's setting up for lines later in the song.

"And forever for her is over for me
Forever, just the word that she said that means never
    To be with another together"

He'll never be with her because she's called the relationship off but probably said something like "We'll 'forever' be 'together' in our hearts" just not physically, but he can't to do this because he's in love with her and can't remain "just friends".

"And with the weight of a feather it tore into me
    Then I knew it
All the work that it took to get through it
On the wings of a feather that flew it
Fell onto my shoe it cut up into me"

It didn't take much for her to break his heart with him realizing all the work they had done to make their relationship work (Damned Renee).

"Well, everybody's reaction is changing you
But their love is only a fraction of what I can give to you"

The media's reaction to Renee and Jack dating was terrible and their articles and such helped influence Renee's feelings toward Jack (Damned her again). Their love for tearing people apart is only a fraction of the "Real" love he can give her (not real sure about that part).

"So let's do it, just get on a plane and just do it
Like the birds and the bees and get to it
Just get out of town and forever be free
Forever, I wonder we could stay together
It could change if you want for the better
Just turn down my shirt and lay down next to me"

The only way he can make her feel the way she did is to escape the media and get away from them so they're not influencing her thoughts of him. He knows if he could find a way to get her to leave she would realize how much she loves him. So Renee just turn down your shirt and lay next to Jack. Although, it's really too late for that now.

General Comment:I think this song is about a guy who has been trying for this girl for a very long time, but then she is taken away from him "everybody's reaction is changing you". He tries hard to get her back, but he fails. It's kind of about being deeply in love and having that taken away from you.

When I listen to this song, it reminds me of being in love. And I too have had that taken away from me. I listen to this song constantly.

General Comment:To me this song is about a guy (the narrator), who likes a girl but just sits idle until someone else comes and makes a serious commitment with her. He is sad that them staying with "another together" forever, he will "never" have a chance again.

Just my opinion and what I think of while listening to the song. Great song.
