Outstanding song.. it really seems to speak volumes to me. I particularly like the line "you don't wear my chains".. it really shows how some people don't know your point of view.. oh well, i'm rambling :) i love the song. the end.

this song is about starting over. You dont like how things are going for you in one place so you get up at move becuase you will be in a new place and you can start over. Somedays I wish I could just pack my stuff up and move away from this life i live now.

This is a great song. I heard it on the local college radio station (the only one in town that doesn't play corporate mindsludge 24/7). At one time I didn't like how things were going so I went to a new place to start over. Turned out most of the problem was myself, and running away didn't really change anything, but I learned something nonetheless.

this cd is all about the same person! in sunday best it also mentions california and boston. i think the cd is about someone he loved left to go to boston and he didn't want her to leave and thinks all the time about leaving and going to find her but just...doesn't

Dan Layus, the lead singer, says about the cd - "There's a lot of leaving," Dan says, of the album's many beginnings and ending, takeoffs and landings. "That's pretty much the theme of the record-looking for a home and not being able to find it, for a multitude of reasons. I was looking for a home in a person. Be it a real love or just one I had in my head. I wish that by the last song there was a conclusion but I'm still figuring it out myself."

This song is about the want for something new and something different. In the song, the the individual being sung about is tired of his life back at home and wants to just get up and move far away from everything. He says he wants to go to Boston, where "some snow would be nice". He is saying that where he lives, everything is repeating every day and there is no change of weather, no change of feelings, and no change in his life whatsoever. The line "you don't wear my chains" is saying that nobody knows how he feels and what he's going through and thinks he'll "start a new life" wherever he moves to.

In short, this song is about the need to try something new and different from the ordinary.

starting over, new beginnings. About a girl who has had it pretty rough in California and thinks she'll move to Boston.

It's actually nice to have a song about leaving Cali instead of going there.

Anyway, I love this song.

Okay, here's what I'm gettin out of this song...
"She said, You don’t know me
You don’t even care"
That's one of the biggest parts of the song to me...I'm guessing they're in a relationship, and they may hang out all the time, talk all the time, etc, but he doesn't really take the time to understand what's going through her head or what makes her tick.
And the part about not wearing her chains I think refers to a ball and chain. So he doesn't understand all of the emotions and struggles she's having to drag along with her. And yeah, I think everyone else has covered what else I think about it...
Absolutely love the song!

WOW. i love this song! sometimes when i get bored i get on itunes and i just look for new music and when i found this i knew it was something special. i have been listening to it for months and months now and it has yet to grow old. infact me and my ipod are listening to it right now. i just love how it starts out slow and then gets really powerful...just a PERFECT song!

I love this song beyond the power of the adjective. The lyrics just constantly amaze me. "You don't know me/you don't wear my chains" is just utter perfection and the whole image of getting out and going somewhere else is just amazing. The song is beautiful.

I wish I could find my Boston. I love this song. I'm pretty sure everyone has said something along the lines of "you don't wear my chains." When things get tough and you feel like no one really gets what it is you're going through and nothing changes, not even the weather, Boston sounds like the perfect place.

OMG i LOVE this song. This girl he sings about is me... i just broke up with my boyfriend cuz im leavin for college in the fall. There were a lot of other things that he will never understand too, and this song just says it perfectly. Before i heard this song, i felt like i was wrong, for wanting to leave with no strings attached. but now ims tarting to wander if its so wrong to want to start over. i hope this doesnt make me a bad person, despite what he thinks...
