Girl, I know the hall looks dark
And the storm seems kind of scary
Your face lit up on beads of lightening
And you start, you start running
And your eyes were light screaming
And since there is no end, and no beginning
You will run
You will run
You will run

Girl, I know the woods look dark
And the trees, they look so deadly
The girls around you are so frightened
And you start, you start to panic
Hear the breathing of a dragon
And the world, it really is on fire
And it burns
And it burns
And it burns

Vivan, your life is told over 1900 pages
Of a world too unreal to be cold,
Your innocence has faded all your blues to gray, your skin has bruised through moving days, blue is peeling back away
Curling, cracking, painting

Girl, you've been rolled up in colorful carpets
Your blonde hair's rushing all around you
And you froze, you're frozen quiet
And your eyes are widened
Room unfurnished, like the nightfall

and you know you can't get up
And you do, you swear you will run
You will run
You will run
You will run

No one will ever save you
If no one will ever find you
Lost girls
Lost girls
Lost girls
Lost girls
Lost girls

My Interpretation:I think the song is a lament of the fact that these girls were hidden away and "lost" as a result of Darger's reclusivity. Tilly seems to contrast the going-ons of the "unreal" world as he depicted it ("You start running", "The girls around you are so frightened", etc.) with what is meanwhile going on in Darger's life ("You're frozen quiet," "Room unfurnished, no light for nightfall"). And "since there is no end and no beginning" to the girls' existence, for not being shared with the world, they are "lost" to a perpetual state of limbo: "No one will ever save you / If no one can ever find you". So I guess it's a commentary on sharing your love and beauty with the world, and the sadness of withholding your gifts.

General Comment:When I first heard it, I had no idea what this song was about, and it felt like a message to me, and all girls, who are (excuse the pig-ignorant literaralness), in a way, 'lost'.

Kind of reassures me that things will be okay, and to carry on doing what I'm doing, because life's one big adventure, anyway.

General Comment:This is my favorite Tilly and the Wall song ever.

The "Vivian, your life is told through 19,000 pages..." part gets me every time. It's just so powerful.

General Comment:This melodies in this song are the best in Tilly's repetoir. The way the sound builds dynamically is just amazing. When the song goes into "Vivian, your life it told through 19 thousand pages" is absolutley gorgeous, and then when it goes into the "No one will ever save you" it gives me shivers.

It reminds me of "They are Night Zombies!!" by Sufjan Stevens. Just the way the piano, bass, keyboard, drums, bells, violins, harmonies, and sufjan just build so well together is amazing. This song is the same, but does it with less, and does it better.

Sufjan is an absolute genious, but this song just blows me away.

I wish the whole sufjan ensemble and all of tilly and the wall all came together and had babies, and then those babies would make the most awsomeest band ever.
