Why do we need this
Who was it that said
That great things come to great men
Well that fucker lied to us
There's nothing here but a wasteland,

And I can still see the graves of the dead
But it's useless
Most of us would rather sit
Than see this wound
That we have created
Let's not last the night
Let's not last the night

I'm sick and I'm tired of always being the good guy
I'm sick and I'm tired of always being the good guy

Senseless and I'm not sure why
I'm not going to pretend that I know all the answers
Or all of the questions
It's got to be good for something

So we'll chalk this and we'll mount the dead
On the fireplace above right above our guilded heads

I'm sick and I'm tired of always being the good guy
I'm sick and I'm tired of always being the good guy

Like sitting in the back seat (it's all the rage)
And boring me with your body (it's all the rage)
How many times can I say I'm sorry (it's all the rage)
And really mean it (and really mean it)
And really mean it (and really mean it)
Like sitting in the back seat (it's all the rage)
And boring me with your body (it's all the rage)
How many times can I say I'm sorry (it's all the rage)
And really mean it (and really mean it)
And really mean it (and really mean it)
And really mean it

Go

Why do we need this
Who was it that said
That great things come to great men
Well that fucker lied to us
There's nothing here but a wasteland
There's nothing here

General Comment:I just wanted to post a funny comment. First of all I am from the US, however I received my master's degree from University of London in 2005, where I was introduced to the music of this fine band. That being said, I think I am usually a good judge of what people are saying when they speak the queen's English. In this case, I was very wrong! What is funny is that, until I read the lyrics to this song, I thought the following two lines were completely different:

    (actual lyrics)
like sitting in the back seat (it's all the rage)
and boring me with your body (it's all the rage)

My initial interpretation of the lyrics!
Well I'm sick and I'm tired (it's all the rage)
Imploring me with your body (it's all the rage)

Doesn't really change the meaning of the song, but if you listen to the demo of the song you can hear how wrong I was!!!!

Song Meaning:I personally think it's about ALWAYS putting people first before yourself e.g. "Who was it that said great things come to great men, well that fucker lied to us". And doing so, so much that it's obviously became to much and he's sick and tired of always being considered as the good guy e.g. "I'm sick and I'm tired of always being the good guy". Also it seems like he's annoyed with everyone thinking he knows all the awnsers "I'm not going to pretend that I know all the answers, Or all of the questions" but he's tried awnsering them in the past because he thinks "Its got to be good for something". And with these lyrics "And I can still see the graves of the dead but it's useless, most of us would rather sit than see this wound that we have created" it seems as if he's always the one who's trying to heal all wounds but most people would rather not help/face up to them. Finally i think these lyrics:-
"like sitting in the back seat (it's all the rage) and boring me with your body (it's all the rage) how many times can I say I'm sorry (it's all the rage) and really mean it (and really mean it)
and really mean it (and really mean it)". I think this is a personal thing with someone he's with and just being with her to make her happy but because he's so sick and tired with allways being the good guy now it's time to say what he thinks and put himself first. Because being the good guy for him in the end it's worth nothing and there's noone/nothing there e.g. "There's nothing here but a wasteland"

    Phew that's what i think

    :)

General Comment:Fantastic song. As I've said before about FFAF's songs, it's so enigmatic. I dunno what I'd do without this song, it envelopes every feeling I've had about past relationships. The FFAF guys deserve more than just a pat on the back for this. Fuckin great music.

General Comment:omfg im sick of straight edge ponses crying for a cause! first off sex isn't some huge thing unless u want it to be. it can be an act of love between two people who have real feelings for eachother but its also just plain fun and if ur sensible there's no reason not to have sex with someone u just think is hot if they feel the same way.

phew thats my rant over but also the song doesn't sound much like its aboot casual sex eh. there are only two lines that suggest it:
like sitting in the back seat
and boring me with your body.

but then sex isnt boring if its a one off. it only gets boring when ur in a relationship thats going nowhere with a girl that messes u about but always seems to make it ur fault until u get "sick and tired of always being the good guy"

lust is a drug that can be resisted? its not a drug but it can be resisted. but on the other hand drugs are fun so why resist? ha
