Crazy but I believe this time
Begging for sweet relief
A blessing in disguise
Dying behind these tired eyes
I've been losing sleep
Please come to me tonight

Hands on a miracle
I've got my hands on a miracle
Believe it or not, hands on a miracle
And there ain't no way
That you'd it away

Everything that we survived
It's gonna be alright
Just lucky we're alive
Got no vision I've been blind
Searching every where
You're right here in my sight

General Comment:So pretty and soothing. Easy to see why many fans would assume it's about the birth of Dave's daughter, but the song was recorded over a year before his baby was born. More than likely it's about his wife. Some of the songs on In Your Honor suggest Dave's marriage was going through a rough spot, so maybe this was his way of reaffirming his faith and love.

My Opinion:I know what this song means now. I was listening to the album after I had my son, and it all clicked. It's birth. It's the contractions his wife has at home, breathing with her, holding her hand while all the wile he just wants it to be over. It's the labour ward. It's the waiting and the futility through watching the pain his wife is in as she rides out the waves labour brings on. It's waiting for the baby to be born, the 'blessing in disguise'. It's the moment you get to hold your new little person in your hands for the very first time and locking eyes with each other ('searching everywhere, you're right there in my sight') and that instant recognition the baby shows you when you smile and speak to him/her.

Yes, it is painful and insurmountable at the time, and it must be even worse for the father-to-be, not able to do anything but watch as the woman you love is in such pain and discomfort and not be able to do anything about it. The relief that washes over you and that... love. That all-encompassing, filling, completing love. This is one of the most beautiful songs that he's ever released. Even as I sing it, I can't help but smile, and usually I have my son in my arms at the time. It's like a lullaby.

General Comment:It's aesthetically ambiguous this song. You can apply it to so many areas of your life; partners, children, family, friends and for me, it's God (though I'm pretty certain that's not what Grohl wrote it about :P):

"Got no vision I've been blind
Searchin' everywhere, you're right here in my sights"
^^ Like seeing the light, it's been so obvious all along, you've been blind y'know?

"hands on a miracle and there ain't no way, let you take it away"

^^ Nobody can take your faith away, not even Satan. Absolutely nobody.

But then again, I can listen to this song when I'm feeling romantic or I'm missing someone and it's very comforting. Basically, this song is stunning and that's fact :)

General Comment:I believe this to be the waiting and birth of a new born baby as 'ive been losing sleep, please come to me tonight' exactly how i was feeling when waiting for my son to born and the chorus is the baby being born as a new born baby is literally a miracle.

think the last verse is actually about their relationship having a baby puts a strain on everything 'Everything that we've survived
    It's gonna be alright'

General Comment:The correct lyrics provided by Gracenote and posted on the MTV website are as follows:

"Crazy but I'm relieved this time
Begging for sweet relief of blessing in disguise
    Dying behind these tired eyes
I've been losing sleep, please come to me tonight

Hands on a miracle, I got my hands on a miracle
Leave it or not, hands on a miracle
And there ain't no way, let you take it away

    Everything that we survived
Its gonna be alright, just lucky we're alive
Got no vision I've been blind
Searchin' everywhere, you're right here in my sights

Hands on a miracle, I got my hands on a miracle
Leave it or not, hands on a miracle
And there ain't no way, let you take it away

Hands on a miracle, I got my hands on a miracle
Leave it or not, hands on a miracle
I got my hands on a miracle
And there ain't no way, let you take it away

Take it away, take it away"

I believe it is a song for his wife, aka the mother of his child.

General Comment:Its got to be about having a child

    "Dying behind these tired eyes
    I've been losing sleep"

    Keeping him up all night

    "
    It's gonna be alright
    Just lucky we're alive"

The child makes him feel lucky to be alive.

    "
    Hands on a miracle
I got my hands on a miracle
Leave it or not, hands on a miracle
    And there ain't no way
    Let you take it away"

Holding it for the first time.

It's a great song, i hope they still preform it and it hasn't been totally forgotten like most foo songs get.

General Comment:i think this song is about a relationship gone wrong, and someone special comes along in their life and makes it all better and that person is willing to fight to be with them.

General Comment:obviously like gregmaustin said, songs can be interpreted any way you want, and for me this song is about an unplanned child...especially the bit about the blessing in disguise and there's aint no way i'll let you take it away...

General Comment:This is an absolutely beautiful song. Dave Grohl is an amazing song writer, very talented.

Any Scrub fans? The show on NBC. It's one of my favorite shows EVER. I just recently purchased all of season 6 off of itunes and was watching one episode that was about having kids, at the end after Turk and Karla have their baby, and JD is deciding rather or not to keep his they play this song in the background as ambience.

I had never heard the song before, but i've been a huge foo fighters fan since their first cd. Quickly noticed Dave Grohls voice and found my Foo Fighters CD's and found the song "Miracle". So perhaps it is about what "apieceoftoast117" said.

Dave Grohl always seems to write songs that can be interpreted from any persons perspective.
