You see the world in black and white
No color or life
You think you'll never get it right
But you're wrong, you might

The sky could fall, could fall on me
The parting of the seas
But you mean more, mean more to me
Than any color I can see

All you ever wanted was love
But you never looked hard enough
It's never gonna give itself up
All you ever wanted to be
Living in perfect symmetry
Nothing is as down or as up
As us

You see the world in black and white
Nothing to bright
You see no meaning to your life
Yes you try
Yes you try

And all you ever wanted was love
But you never looked hard enough
It's never gonna give itself up
And all you ever wanted to be
Living in perfect symmetry
Nothing is as down or as up

And don't you want to see it come soon
Floating in a big white balloon
Or given your own silver spoon

Don't you want to see it come down
Enough of throwing your arms around
And saying not a moment too soon

Cause I feel low
Cause I feel low
Ooh
Yeah I feel low
Oh no
Ooh
Cause I feel low
Cause I feel low
Ooh
And I feel low
Oh no
Ooh

General Comment:The thing about this song, is it's got deep, almost surreal lyrics, but it's in this catchy upbeat instrumental, so the song doesn't seem too emotional.

The first four lines suggest the person that the writer/performer is talking to has deprived themself of any life, as if they've given up on all hope for one reason or another. "You see the world in black

General Comment:i dunno this is the worst song on the album. it's just a bit too much typical coldplay for me to stomach. especially how they do like a whole minute and a half of just 'cos i feel low'.

General Comment:I honestly believe this song is about depression.

He has presented the concept of depression in a slightly buoyant (and rather upbeat) tone. Too long have sad songs been backed up by cold, dead rhythm.

I think he uses the term 'Low' as a simple, yet powerful term to describe how he feels.
Because in retrospect, one can't entirely describe how they feel through depression. It seems more intense, and profound adjectives are expected.
I think it also sums his depression up as a day-to-day, lingering facet of his life.

I also think he's talking to himself. Yet preaching to himself, or going over concepts and feelings in his head.

Obviously, a relationship of some sort seems to be relative to how he feels.

Well, I could be very wrong. But that is what I get from this song.

    Love it.

General Comment:Depression is definitely the source of this song. A depression so strong and powerful that it causes this person to contemplate suicide to get away from it all. Whatever it is that this person is suffering through had to deal with love from a relationship, friendship or even family. Im going to tag this to a relationship as it would seem the most logical situation to use for this.

Just wanting to be loved by that person who you used to call you own hurts a lot when trying to get passed things. Self loathing sets in making you feel the lowest of all.

Seeing things in black and white just says that this person has become dead. The only one that brought color to their life isnt there anymore.

Never getting it right could be that they mustve been at fault or it was something that the person they were with just wasnt satisfied with who they were.

You should try. Saying to keep on going obviously.

All in all...this song is an awesome song. Something that can seriously hit one close to home, but also add inspiration to keep going.

...It's just an emotion that is only temporary. -_-

    General Comment:best coldplay song... imo

I really like TheAngelTheory's interpretation. a silver spoon... could be a symbol of the way medicine is fed. it's definitely about a person dying.

General Comment:the song is very good. its about someone trying to help their friend see the world differently.0 it switches from 1st to 3rd persion, which is pretty confusing, but the meaning is the same.

just a guy who is too 'low' and sees the world too unilaterally. i love this song

General Comment:I think that basically it's about a guy trying to console someone who is dying. Someone who is old, or someone who's life has slowly faded away. He's saying that even thought they can't experience joy anymore, he is telling them that he feels that much for them that he needs them to survive, for him.

All you ever wanted to be, living in perfect symmetry, nothing is as down or up as us

It's like, saying that they've been there forever.
And the balloon line? One day, the balloon will pop...or deflate...and all the air will rush out...

It's saving you a moment too soon.
Death, soon, is the person's fate. Saving them from this black and white life of emptyness.
