This was exactly what I was going through, my ex had been my best friend, so losing him was doubly hard.
"I wanna love you but I don't know if I can" This could be talking about when you really want to love someone, but youre afraid of being hurt. Either that or maybe when you really love your best friend but you're not sure if you could love them as a lover.

This is a portrayal of a person who is in love with someone and simply is distracted by everything else around him. He fails to see what's right in from of him--her. "Driven to distraction" She wants him to notice her, but of course, he's distracted by everything else. However, he knows about her because he has gone through how she feels since she was once distracted and unable to see how much he loved her, hence "it's all part of the plan."

This is describing what she is thinking--how can I fix this in anyway? How can I make him notice me and know I love him despite how distracted he is with everything else right now? "And you try to fix it anyway you can" is the girl trying every option to fix this. Nothing seems to work out.

Favorite song of the album easily, definitely a top 5 at the very least of any Coldplay. This song just gets me. I’ve been looking for this song for 13 years.
