The I.V. and your hospital bed
This was no accident
This was a therapeutic chain of events

This is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor
This is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospital
It's not so pleasant
And it's not so conventional
It sure as hell ain't normal
But we deal, we deal

The anesthetic never set in and I'm wondering where
The apathy and urgency is that I thought I phoned in
It's not so pleasant.
And it's not so conventional
It sure as hell ain't normal
But we deal, we deal

Just sit back, just sit back
Just sit back and relax
Just sit back, just sit back
Just sit back and relapse again

Can't take the kid from the fight
take the fight from the kid
Sit back, relax
Sit back, relapse again
Can't take the kid from the fight
take the fight from the kid
Just sit back, just sit back

You're a regular decorated emergency
You're a regular decorated emergency

This is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor
This is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospital
It's not so pleasant.
And it's not so conventional
It sure as hell ain't normal
But we deal, we deal

The anesthetic never set in and I'm wondering where
The apathy and urgency is that I thought I phoned in
It's not so pleasant.
And it's not so conventional
It sure as hell ain't normal
But we deal, we deal

Can't take the kid from the fight
take the fight from the kid
Sit back, relax
Sit back, relapse again
Can't take the kid from the fight
take the fight from the kid
Just sit back, just sit back
Sit back, sit back, relax, relapse
Sit back, sit back, bababada
You can take the kid out of the fight

You're a regular decorated emergency
The bruises and contusions will remind me what you did when you wake
You've earned a place atop the ICU's hall of fame
The camera caught you causing a commotion on the gurney again

You're a regular decorated emergency
The bruises and contusions will remind me what you did when you wake
You've earned a place atop the ICU's hall of fame
The camera caught you causing a commotion on the gurney again

Can't take the kid from the fight
take the fight from the kid
Sit back, relax
Sit back, relapse again
Can't take the kid from the fight
take the fight from the kid
Just sit back, just sit back
Sit back, sit back, relax, relapse
Sit back, sit back, bababada
You can take the kid out of the fight

The I.V. and your hospital bed
This was no accident
This was a therapeutic chain of events

General Comment:To me, this sounds like a song about a boy who is a metaphorical soldier who is fighting himself and his addiction. When it says he is a "decorated emergency" I think it is referring to medals of valor that one receives in the army. Maybe he is trying so hard and the withdrawal is so bad that he needs to "take the fight from the kid" with another dose.

    Song Meaning:It's OBVIOUSLY about drugs.
"Can't take the kid from the fight, take the fight from the kid." means you can't just tell the person to stop doing drugs because he's addicted and won't listen, so you have to take the drugs (fight) away from the person.

"Sits back relax, sit back and relapse again" is when the person seems clean but end up doing drugs once more (relapse).

"The bruises and contusions will remind me what you did when you wake"
"You've earned a place atop the ICU's hall of fame"
"The camera caught you causing a commotion on the gurney again"
All of this happens when the patient does not do any drugs and ends up going crazy because he feels like he NEEDS it because his body is so used to the drugs. Usually when this happens to a person in rehab they become violently sick and vomit a lot. In the hospital he runs wild and he becomes known for his violent reactions throughout the hospital.

Read the song again, to all of the people who said "Fight Club". It's your opinion but it's OBVIOUSLY about a person addicted to drugs or whatever.

Song Meaning:Ryan Ross wrote this about his dad who was an alchoholic. That's what the whole "relax, relapse" thing is about. He would get better, then have a relapse and start drinking again and Ryan would have to take care of him again.

Song Meaning:This song was written about Ryans dad, who was an alocholic and possibly abused him mentally and phyiscally.

'The bruises and contusions will remind me what you did when you wake' suggests that Ryan was hit, or hurt in some way due to his fathers drinking and when he'd slept it off, and woken up, Ryan still had reminders from what he did to him.

'The camera caught you causing a commotion on the gurney again' I interpret to mean that Ryans dad was disorderly when he was taken into hospital, and caused a 'commotion' when he was on the gurney.

'Can't take the kid from the fight, take the fight from the kid' shows Ryans feelings towards what was happening, and how he felt personally. The fight had been taken from him because he was left to care for his dad, and he couldn't do some of the things his friends were doing.

General Comment:I love Panic and this song
I think that this is however inadvertently referencing to fight club
    'this was no accident,
this was a therapeutic chain of events'
they fought as a type of therapy in fight club, therefore all the wounds were not from some kind of accident. Again 'It's not so pleasant.
And it's not so conventional' is a sort of reference to this.
'Can't take the kid from the fight
take the fight from the kid'
Another reasonably obvious reference, so is
'The bruises and contusions will remind me what you did when you wake'

General Comment:For some reason, I feel like its someone watching their sibling struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts...pretty gruesome, but the song is just so angry and just...I dunno. Like they are super burnt out by watching their sibling get pushed further down by their sadness.

    Bleh.
