Amanda does know what it means, but she won't tell anyone. I don't even think that Brian knows, though.

I've always been wondering if 672 was an area code, though.

aren't the lyrics 672 [4X] OOOOH... oneday I'll find out about you dying....

anyways I think it's about a count down to someone's death or about someone, or something.

well, according to what I hear, is exactly "you too" non "you dying".

actually I'm not sure i listened to this song at maximum volume and she fades away when she sings the last two words... and it SORT of sounds like dying.

For some reason, I've always thought it was either an address number or a number of something. Not saying that Amanda has ever murdered anyone, but I always think the song is about person number 672 to die. Someday they'll find the body and find out about the murder, but until then.. Maybe it could be about an abortion also? Again, not saying that Amanda has had 672 abortions or anything, I'm just saying what's on my mind.
The address thing (or area code, kudos Jonestown) is probably the best explanantion. Maybe there really /is/ no meaning, though. The words are pretty poetic by themselves.
Ah well. Maybe we'll know someday.

Beauty in randomness?
One day people will realize pulchritude can be found in disorder, nothing specific or peculiar pertains to comelyness.

672 is the international dialing code for Christmas Island and the Cocos Islands. And it's in some Louisiana phone numbers too. Maybe it's abot offshorebank accounts?

I would guess that it's from an address though. Going by the sound of the song, it seems like it's something she's done and she's ashamed of. An old lover, perhaps?

i have no idea of what 672 mean...i guess she just chose any number to make a song of it....it's the more logical thing i found lol...
but the curious 'some day they'll find about you too...'

well i was lookin for 672 on google and this came up after looking past a few pages http://www.vfwpost672.org/ if you look on there, you will see that there is a man named Robert Palmer on there, and i think that the meaning of this song is that since her dad left, she wanted to find him and once she did, she wrote a song about where he ended up. it mentions veterans of wars in the site, just as a few of amandas songs portrayed as well...i may be wrong about this but just thought i might add that in here

Just thought it worth a mention, but 672 is the number of hours in the average menstrual cycle...

maybe we should just establish that Amanda is happy to be a girl..?
So far OnePerfectDay's explanation is the most exciting one :)

"Just thought it worth a mention, but 672 is the number of hours in the average menstrual cycle... "
this point is interesting.
perhaps an abortion happened? (maybe it's somehow a sister song to Mandy goes to Med School?)
maybe one day amanda will tell us.

672...

I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS!!

At first, i thought she picked random numbers, 6, 7 and 2 and put them into a song. Then i heard the last line of the song and to this day, i still don't know what it means. But honestly, i like the mystery.

Amanda said this on the Dresden Dolls website in the FAQ section--

"Amanda, what is Half Jack/Mrs. O/Girl Anachronism/672/whatevs about?"
That would take all teh fun away, wouldn't it? But you can join in the speculation on www.theshadowbox.net or http://www.songmeanings.net/artist.php?aid=137438961031

Well, i guess I'm joining the speculation.

Maybe it's better to leave it a mystery...

i always thought it sounded it was something weird like counting the beats on the clock. 672 seconds? something really lame and pointless. but why would she perform medleys combining it with half jack and thirty whacks... so trivial!

I thiiiink.... it's about a book. I think one day she was reading a really good book, but page 672 was missing... but she wants to know what happened on page 672, so one day she'll find another copy and find out about page 672... (or not)

i like the book idea... that's funny...

It always sounded to me like she had committed 672 crimes; murders, broken hearts, etc. And she is telling her most recent that one day he (or she) will be added to the list.
