Yeah I'm not angry, and no I'm not upset
It's taken me a while, but this is what I've learned
Emotional attachment is really not a threat
When I'm simply not concerned

The things that I take on I soon shrug off
'Cause I know no one will ever be content
With the way things are or with what they've got
So I've given up and now I'm just indifferent

You all laugh at me like I'm not happy
With anything, anytime, anywhere
And the half of me is all about apathy
And the other half just doesn't care

I must admit that all the words you spoke I hated
'Cause I don't see just how I can be motivated
Enough to break a sweat over a dying race
It seems our fate is something we've already embraced

Yeah, being apathetic's a pathetic way to be
But I don't care
What matters to you does not matter to me
'Cause I don't care

So take a wild guess it's
Like I just couldn't care less if
All the things you find impressive
Just blew up and made those messes
That you'll frantically repair
Like it's a life or death affair
And all the while you're unaware
For this you really shouldn't care
But it's so hard to see the reality
That the end will be the end of things
And our hearts are all we get to bring
So let's go ahead and make them worth something

I'm well aware that everything is a far cry from alright
I'm well aware that all of us can at times be too uptight
And possibly the remedy is a dose of apathy
You point your finger at you
I'll point mine right back at me

My Opinion:During the last few lines:
"You point your finger at you,
I'll point mine right back at me"

I don't get the image of two people, but one person pointing at them self in the mirror, blaming them self and no one else for all their troubles.

General Comment:I listened to an interview and Matt Thiessen said it was about how his girlfriend at the time was all about being seen with the right people at like clubs. This is just about how he could care less about all that stuff, he's apathetic to all of it. In the end, all that matters is that your hearts in the right place, with God.

Song Meaning:Whatever the song is about, I think he is being deliberately contradicting. About caring and not caring. Possibly a confusion as to what he SHOULD care about but doesn't and things which he does care about but shouldn't matter.

General Comment:I think the last part specifically is about being too conscious of other's mistakes. It's all about humility. Sometimes we get too uptight and blame others when the mature, humble thing to do would be to "Point your finger at you; I'll point mine right back at me" regardless of who the blame should fall onto.

General Comment:Ecclesiastes 1:1 "The words of the preacher, the son of David and king in Jerusalem. 2 'Vapor of vapors and futility of futilities! ... All is vanity' (emptiness, falsity, and vain-glory). [Rom. 8:20] 3 What profit does man have left from all his toil at which he toils under the sun? [is life worth living?] 4 One generation goes and another generation comes, but the earth remains forever. [Ps. 119:90] 2:2 "I said of laughter, it is mad, and of pleasure, what does it accomplish? 3 I searched in my mind how to cheer my body with wine-- yet at the same time having my mind hold its course and guide me with [human] wisdom- and how to lay hold of folly, till I might see what was good for the sons of men to do under heaven all the days of their lives. . ."[Amplified version]
i think this is what the song is talking about for the majority of the time, and then in the end, when it says
"And all the while you're unaware
For this you really shouldn't care
But it's so hard to see the reality
That the end will be the end of things
And our hearts are all we get to bring
So let's go ahead and make them worth something"
it's talking about when it says that we should be laying up treasures in heaven,
that the only things on this earth that matters are not things, but people, and
our hearts, and their hearts. We should be striving, putting all of our energy
into blessing others, as Christ did when he was on this earth. those are the things
that are eternally significant; those are the things that will matter in the end.

General Comment:This song is probably comes from him observing all the things people around him do.people are filling their time being non-relective and conforming to popular trends that are fleeting and inevitably bring bad times, and he's saying that stuff really doesn't matter.he's encouraging the listeners to clean up their hearts and live with eternity in mind, instead of living like this life(that ends at the grave) is all they have.

General Comment:im basically in love with matt thiessen, hes a lyrical genius and i really admire him. This song is kind of a mockery, hes not really an apathetic person, but he gets real frustrated with the imperfection of people, including himself. I guess onsce you know Christ, everyone just looks so blatently imperfect.
