It's about him being so much in love with this girl that he has this psycho persona to him thoughout the song. "I wish I was myself again." seems to be him saying I don't want to be "psychotic" and you destroyed me. He loved her and when she got tired of his obsessive ways she left. He's saying its all her fault that she left and now that he's like this.

it might be a b-side to one of the single albums released in the UK, or just a demo track, so i'd say your best bet is just to download it...as for meaning, i am in agreement with brandonflowers413...as for "i'm better off this way", maybe he means it's better to be obsessed and desperate than to have never loved her? just a guess.

i love the line "you say im obsessed, i say im in love"--its brillaint as is the whole song.he sounds different when he sings it..its not as rocky, its more soft, i like it.i agree with brandonflowers413 view on this song as well.

I love this song. It is indeed a demo, and there is no "legal" way to obtain it, per se, but since it's not released through a label anywhere, it's not against the law (I don't think).
I think brandonflowers413 pretty much summed up the lyrics... I was a bit curious myself, I couldn't put the meaning into words, but now I get it! LOL

He doesn't sound like his ol' self, which is a different twist.
Maybe this is what he was talking about with him having the next album more American then Hot Fuss(which is still awesome nonetheless)

Is this describing the same sort of relationship as most of the ones in Hot Fuss? Where he's the overbearing jealous, somewhat crazy boyfriend. Like she's driven him to snap. There was a point when I could sympathise so much with the other interpretation, complete loneliness.

its definately brandon, just maybe in his earlier years? i love how his voice has just gotten so much stronger since hot fuss, it melts me when he sings. and btw LOVE this song, i just heard it for the first time recently and its so different from all the new stuff. and his voice is just so innocent. i love it.

I agree with loveisblind on the ''I'm better of this way'' part..
I relate so much to this particular line because my ex-girlfriend keeps trying to convince me I will find another girl, but I only want her.. And it's becoming quiet desperate..

So last night I was searching the internet to find out what all their bonus tracks and b-sides were so I could get them. I came across this song, downloaded it, and I love it! It is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. Right now it's my favorite Killer's song. I agree that this doesn't sound like Brandon, but I was hoping it was, b/c the Killers are so amazing. My fav. line of this song is "she says i'm obsessed, i say i'm in love." it gives me chills. great song

Ok half my stuff just got cut off- I was saying that it could be about his girlfriend Brooke who he sings about in Get Trashed...so it may be 'Oh B youve done it now'...but prob wrong. And it sounds like its about a clingy possessive guy who has been dumped and is desperate to win his girlfriend back cos he cant go on without her or something...and just wants to be himself again but hes too caught up in his fear of losing her forever.

yeah he really sounds younger ... a bit naive but i guess that's just the song's tone... he's confused, desperate, he cant sound like in bones...
i think the meaning of this song is pretty clear... i identify with this one cuz i feel my ex boyfriend would sing it to me... he...
its a good song but the killers have (musically) much much much much better songs!
even the lyrics are quite plain, i know the killers can give a whole lot more...
