This is a really good song. Maybe he wants a girl and she doesn't really want him for whatever reason and he wants to "change her mind" I can't believe no one commented on this!!

This song is definitely one of the many, many, many songs that describe me or how I feel. :-P I have a huge list of those that I won't post. But about the song itself, in my opinion, Jonesyfan got it right.

This song is about the how crazy you feel when you're in love(Racy Days).
It's about how this love has blown open your previously stale life(Hopeless haze)
But she doesn't love you back, or at least you don't think she does, and you hurt inside(tragic eyes)
You dream of asking her, and your not used to seeing yourself this way(can't even recognize)
But you don't know what that answer will be, and if it's no, you'll do anything to make it yes(change your mind)

You think she loves you too(we've felt like this before)
But you're too scared to ask her, so you hide(while i ignore)
But you wish that if you have a chance with her, she'd give some positive signal(if i have a chance)

We're all the same
and love can befall anyone of us at anytime(love is blind)
But just as you fall in love and the sunlight begins to break through in your heart, it is cut back by the thought that she'd never have you(the sun is gone)

And you just wish to ask her, and make sure her answer is yes, she loves you too(can I change your mind)

this is what I think it means, I've felt like this before myself

I think it means just that the person being sang about doesn't think about the one singing...he's not on her mind

This song is so beautiful... His voice is just amazing to me.


I don't care what he's actually singing about, I just want to think from the sound of it that he's in love and he hopes for a second chance.

This is one of the best songs ever written and the Killers are one of the best bands of all time. I love this song so much because its about the feelings almost everyone has had. i agree w/everything futurfaildnovlist said about what it means.

Athlete, first of all, the song IS on Hot Fuss. Have you bought it or are you just... unattentive?

The band says it is, in fact, "RACY days". I would trust the band. They did, after all, write the song. It says so in the little book thing at the front.

I love this song. :3 It's my favorite on Hot Fuss.

This song is only on the North American version of Hot Fuss, but it is available as a b-side elsewhere. Listening to the acoustic version, Brandon annunciates the words a bit better. It is indeed "Racy days", and it goes

I think it's simply about a guy who wants er... something ... from a girl, and she doesn't want to, and he's trying to persuade her to let him do whatever it is he wants to do. But the something could just be an "I love you" but I'm thinking it's something a bit more physical, as it "starts to show".

But I'm sure we can all agree with Rizo (

"Help me through the hopeless haze" to me means confusion.

"Tragic eyes / I can't even recognize myself behind" seems to be about perceptions of the world and what it means about yourself.

"Why aren't you shaking / Step back in time / Graciously taken / Oh you're too kind" seems to be his shock that someone cares about him.

"We're all the same / And love is blind / The sun is gone / Before it shines", to me this meant an unconventional love, that love doesn't have to be like you expect.

"And I said if the answer is no / Can I change your mind?" gives away the meaning of the song, it's his rejecting someone else, trying to go in his own separate way.

I actually placed this in the chronology of Hot Fuss as when the narrator fell in love with Andy, realised it was mutual but then rejected him, shortly before being "On Top" in love with Jenny.

I think this song is about a guy in love with a girl (well, obviously) but even though she rejects him he can't help but be happy. After all, he's in love! That's why he can't recognize himself through 'tragic eyes', because he simply can't understand why he would be depressed about this great feeling he has. He's going to keep trying until this girl finally realizes he's the one for her too. Why anyone would reject Brandon is a mystery to me :) but this is a great, innocent song about how we all should feel when we're in love. I think we can all relate to it.

Hmm, first of all may I say that this song is awesome? The Killers are pretty cool. ANYWAYS...

Change Your Mind is a pretty straightforward song I think. The first verse is the narrator describing how in love he is with a girl, and how everything else is all a blur and she's all that's on his mind. However, it's clear that she doesn't feel the same way about this - so he wants to know if he can change her mind.

In the second bit, he seems to think that she does feel the same way about him, but she just isn't showing it. He then wants to know if they have a chance, though I don't think she really does love him the way he loves her.

In the bridge, he's wondering why she doesn't at all feel any discomfort. Here he is lovesick, and hurting, but she doesn't seem to show any pain at all about this matter. Why isn't she shaken? Then I guess that she knows he loves her, so she's trying to be nice to him and doesn't want to hurt him - but she just doesn't love him.

In the end, he reflects on all this and notes how blind love is. But still, he holds out some hope for him and this girl.
