Lyrics for Everything Will Be Alright as interpreted by foldsbaldwin

Everything Will Be Alright Lyrics
I believe in you and me
I'm coming to find you
If it takes me all night
Wrong until you make it right
And I won't forget you
At least I'll try
And run, and run tonight
Everything will be alright
Everything will be alright
Everything will be alright
Everything will be alright

I was out shopping for a doll
To say the least, I thought I've seen them all
But then you took me by surprise
I'm dreaming bout those dreamy eyes
I never knew, I never knew
So take your suitcase, cause I don't mind
And baby doll, I meant it every time
You don't need to compromise
I'm dreaming bout those dreamy eyes
I never knew, I never knew
But it's alright...

Everything will be alright
Everything will be alright
Everything will be alright
Everything will be alright

I'm surprised no one's commented on this yet. It's one of my favorite songs off the Hot Fuss CD. I just love the mellowness of it. I think it matches with the lyrics: something has gone wrong, it's a disaster, but he thinks it will work out.

"I'm dreaming bout those dreamy eyes.."

they've had some problems and he wants to fix them even if they can't be together. And also she was a very "unique" person to him.

He’s saying that since he met this girl that he feels like nothing can go wrong. He was looking to meet anyone special, but he thought he’d never find someone but she’s made him fall head over heels for her “I was out shopping for a doll….” I thik he’s done something wrong and he doesn’t want her to compromise by staying with him if she’s hurting…he loves her too much for that. Everything will be alright because he has had her in his life…..beautiful! I think “I never knew..” means “I never knew I could love someone this much” Love this song!

sorry guys but i'm going to have to disagree on this song. maybe it's just the bitterness in love that i possess in myself that makes me see the song this way, but no matter i find that it is a hopeless love song because the love in question can never happen...or it has ended.

So take your suitcase, cause I don't mind
And baby doll, I meant it every time

I think that it's symbolizing that she's leaving him...their relationship has ceased. and also how he says that he "MEANT" it everytime. he's reassuring her, almost arguing saying that he REALLY meant it everytime he said he loved her...like a plea for her to stay.

also, i think the repeating of "everything will be alright" is more of a prayer for himself. like repeating it enough will make it true. it's almost sarcastic...and definitely bitter. in fact the whole tone of the song seems dreary and dark, like a funeral.

so i can see how the first listen to the song it seems to be rather optimistic, but i think brandon's message is a more bitter, sarcastic one.

ohh and i love this song. brandon's a genius.

omg i can't believe that ANYONE views this song as optimistic. jooolay is clearly correct in her explanation of this song. Brandon Flowers isn't the kind of guy to make his songs literal. He always incorporates some sort of satiric/sarcastic/sardonic message that gives the song a special meaning. For instance, "All These Things That I've Done" isn't about what he's done in life, it's about his plea to God for a relationship with him and answers to his neverending questions. "Midnight Show" isn't about something sexual like it sounds, it's actually about murder, just as Brandon explained when he described his "murder trilogy" of "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine" "Midnight Show" and another song not on this cd. ALL OF HIS SONGS MEAN SOMETHING, and this isn't just some cheesy song in which he's so happy that he's found this girl and assumes everything will be alright. Conversely, he's saying it won't be alright, but the constant love for this girl has driven him to insanity, and all he can POSSIBLY DO ANYMORE is just say to himself, "Everything will be alright..." So there. It's sarcastic. It's bitter. It's emotional. Flowers is a genius. Let it be known.

the first time i heard this song i immediately thought it was a gloomy depressing song but then people told me that it was supposed to be optimistic and such but after reading the lyrics myself i'd have to say this is definitely a downer, just coming out of a relationship with a bitter messy end this song speaks to me a lot

oh and for whatever reason to me this song always felt like it had some kind of suicidal overtone, not in the lyrics but just in the way the song feels. I mean, when you hear it you an just picture someone in the shower, their head against the wall slowly mouthing the words "everything will be all right" as the camera pans down and you see that all the water in the bottom of the shower is crimson...or maybe i'm just weird like that

This song is a little overproduced, in my opinion, but it also has an amazing, almost creepy vibe. I love it!

I think it is about him, he is in love with a girl they were together but they have now broken up. Hes telling himself that it will all be alright, i think its quite a creepy song and could imagine him like on the brink of going crazy or something! Amazing song though!! Could listen 2 it forever. The Killers are the gr8est!

i have to agree with the creepy vibe. in the beginning it sounds as though a ghost is saying "alright" and throughout the whole song brandon sounds abnormally sedated and weary...definitely not a love song lol...

i definitly agree with the non-optimistic view.Brandon Flowers in an absolute Genius and always contains a hidden message in his songs, he never wants the meaning to be so obvious, all his songs have depth in them, and the way he sings this song..and all the other songs, its so haunting and just amazing!!I love brandon flowers he is one of the most amazing singer/songwriters there is...and hes so good looking too:)

I think its about that moment of a break-up when the words have just been said and all the sadness of emotion are strong. You still remember, you still care and that you meant it when you said you loved them, the feelings were real. It's that last moment of closeness when you have the last chance to say what you feel.

What I did want to throw in to the mix, was that when I first heard the song I thought the intro sounded haunting, very different from the rest of the songs and reminiscent of the Cure. Then there was the line "I'm coming to find you if it takes me all night". I recognised it as a well known lyric from The Cure song 'A Night Like This' (see lyrics below). It not only has the same topic, but feeling of desperation of the end of a relationship. Don't think it is a coincidence, but did anyone else think the same?

Say goodbye on a night like this
If it's the last thing we ever do
You never looked as lost as this
Sometimes it doesn't even look like you
It goes dark
It goes darker still
Please stay
But I watch you like I'm made of stone
As you walk away

I'm coming to find you if it takes me all night
A witch hunt for another girl
For always and ever is always for you
Your trust
The most gorgeously stupid thing I ever gut in the world

Say hello on a day like today
Say it everytime you move
The way that you look at me now
Makes me wish I was you
It goes deep
It goes deeper still
This touch
And the smile and the shake of your head

I'm coming to find you if it takes me all night
Can't stand here like this anymore
For always and ever is always for you
I want it to be perfect
Like before
I want to change it all
I want to change"

reading the lyrics again im begining to think that this song is a look back on a previous relationship he had.the first verse is taking place right now and the second is him thinking of when he first met the girl and the time she left him.in the first verse hes saying how hes going to go get her back and everything will be alright after they r back together.such a beautiful song.Brandon is brilliant.

mandibgood, I agree with you.

It's funny because the fact that the song comes after Midnight Show and then Jenny Was a Friend of Mine next, it would seem like it should go... I mean, it fits perfectly to me... And her leaving is directly related to what he was saying in Jenny ... . "She said she loved me, but she had somewhere to go." Like she had already left him or was going to leave him or something... And now he's missing her... dreaming about her dreamy eyes... So he's going to look for her where he dumped the body, it doesn't matter if it takes him all night. He never knew how much he loved her until she was gone, and everything will be alright because he's going to find her... and maybe kill himself because he's so upset about her being gone.

Just my thoughts.

I love how the lyrics are optimistic but the music really isn't. It's like Believe Me Natalie- it sounds so uplifting but the story is so depressing. I love how they do that! THANK GOD FOR THE KILLERS!!!!!!

This is a very optimistic song : D
" everything will be alright"
Despite everything that's happened/happening to him.
