I swim across an ocean
It's my mattress in the basement
I'm sweatin' out excuses
That would make your stomach turn
The road we drove last night
Stretched from the desert to Las Vegas
We filled our cups, and lit one up
The snow began to burn

Oh, Oh maybe, we were made
We were made for each other
Ahh, is it possible for the
World to look this way forever?
Ahhh, Ahhh...

I talked so much, I'm sure
I didn't realize I'd gone crazy
Didn't catch my bloody nose
Or that my heart tried to explode
I still live with my High School friends
Some people never change at all
We're still the same compulsive drunks
We were when we were small
(Someone get this man to a hospital!)

Ohh, maybe, we were made
We were made for each other
Ahh, is it possible for the
World to look this way forever?
Ahhh, Ahhh...

A long (a long) way to the firework days
But I still like to burn, burn, burn
I'm always (I'm always) in the haze of a car crash
The orange airbag dust covers everything
Oh, everything

And maybe, we were made
We were made for each other
Ahh, is it possible for the
World to look this way forever?
Ahhh, Ahhh...
...
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out on you

You waited for me in the rain
In the parking lot
Cold hands, lips blue
Clothes stuck to you
You could have phoned me for a ride
It's a mess out there
you said the rain's the rain
Some air'd be good for you
(you can breathe, you can breathe now)
Well good for you
(you can breathe, but the air is running out

You get in my car
Where its warm
You cannot forget
skin new, hands true
My hands all over you
so whats another night
The seats rolled back
They can't see through
The rains the rain
Some air'd be good for you

You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out on you

And you walked for miles down
The shores of California to the
Coast of Mexico where you could hide
And no one'd have to know

You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out (on you now)

You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe, but the air is running out on you
Running out on you

(Maybe, the world can look like this forever)
(You can breathe but the air is running out)
(Maybe, the world can look like this forever)
(Maybe, the world can look like this forever)
(You can breathe but the air is running out)
(Maybe, the world can look like this forever)

General Comment:It's about putting a white powder up your right nostril (of left, at least if you write with it, or the right is blocked from over usage).

    Amazing song.

What makes it better is that you can play it to your gf and she will think its about her. I'm a bit perplexed as to why I never did that with my ex's. Probably why I'm a single fckin Peter Crouch Pringle.

Song Meaning:this song is about cocaine, or at least references to it for a lot of the song...

the way i interpret it, the first part of the song is talking about a trip and the positive aspects of it. and how you feel like everything is perfect while you're actually on the drug. euphoria.

then the second part is the negative aspects of being on drugs. you can breathe while you have it, you can breathe while you're on it. but he knows it won't last forever--he's answering his own question in the first part: "is it possible for the world to look this way forever?"... no, because his "air" is running out.

this shows in the end of the song when he's echoing the two parts:
"Maybe, the world can look like this forever/
You can breathe but the air is running out"

so yeah. this song is basically about the positives/negatives of cocaine, and the people he experiences all of this with.

General Comment:also--in the last part where he sings "you can breathe, you can breathe now/you can breathe but the air is running out" does anybody hear the "where are you now?" in the backup vocals?

General Comment:i don't think this whole song is just revolving around coke. not even the first part. i mean, at first it seems like that, but when you come to "you can breathe" that's when you realize this is one of andrew's songs about a girl. he might be saying he and the white stuff are meant to be, but he's most likely saying he's meant to be w/ the GIRL. those are just my thoughts, anyway. when i first heard this song, shortly after i heard of jack's, i took the meaning of the song literally and thought his gf who he thought was "the one" died in a car wreck right before his eyes, and that the two parts of the song are what happened prior to the wreck and then the aftermath, when he feels miserable w/out her. it could still be that, idk. but jeez, i love this song for life! it's my def all-time fave, i listened to it just now and i still feel the charm i had initially. i wish a guy would sing it to me. that sounds pathetic, but still. kind of sweet. :)

General Comment:It seems to me that he is talking about drugs and his friends. as if they were made for each other, he says is it possible for the world to look this way forever? he wants the world to look the way it does when he is high. he says " i talked so much im sure i didnt realized id gone crazy didnt catch my bloody nose or that my heart tried to explode" All things that happen when you take stimulants.

General Comment:This song is so cheery sounding, but it's almost eery.. like not real happiness
Then when it gets to You Can Breathe it's like he's finally sobering up
Nice to know my hero's into crack cocaine...
Clearly it's about his little break from everything when he wrote this album, catching up with old friends and doing drugs that only give you an illusion of happiness

General Comment:I don't get the cocaine reference. Haha.

BUT, I could sort of see it as the progression of a relationship. Starting out, everything's perfect, reminds me of summer...they're made for each other, in love, etc.

A possible intermission in the relationship?

Then you come to "You Can Breathe" and it's pretty much about getting it on...for old time's sake, maybe?

I love, love, love Jack's. SoCo and Jack's Mannequin are pretty different to me, even though you see some mixing that is inevitable when the two have such similar origins. The two bands have separate purposes on a whole...Jack's Mannequin, given the name, follows Andrew through his stages of cancer. Something Corporate is a go-to, default emo band, which is great, too.

General Comment:No offense to anyone but I think your reading way to deeply into this song.

Yes there are drug refrences. But it's essentially. Read the lyrics, you'll see the story laid out in front of you.

In my opinion it goes like this: Him and his high school friends go out and party. The girl he loves is probably with him. He does crack and of course it makes him high. He starts to like the rush of it. The girl probably doesn't approve (I know I wouldn't) but she's just gonna let it go. suddenly it's too much for him. He probably goes for a drive while he's high and crashes the car. Then the next part(You can breathe), he's at the hospital, scared to death but not really hurt. The girl probably can't handle it and she has to leave. He's trying to convince her that it's okay, that everything will be all right. It won't happen again, but she isn't too sure. But she decides to trust him, because in all events they will always love each other.

It's a love song, it's not all about drugs and partying. It's about things that happen that can keep you together. It's about making choices. At least in my opinion it is.

    At least
