  My Interpretation:I loved this song when it first came out! Like everyone else, I thought of this song as a song for people who have secrets (not necessarily dark secrets) that they keep for themselves. Like, how I have an account for this website which I frequent to write and read song interpretations and none of my friends know about this; this site is my dirty little secret!
  
  However! About three months ago, a friend of mine was struggling to hold onto her relationship with her guy. I helped them to work things out but eventually got to know him more. As a result, we became good friends and then it came to a point where he was really comfortable with me---telling me all of the secrets his girlfriend (and nobody) doesn't even know about. Ideally, I was his secret keeper.
  
  One night, we accidentally kissed. We instantly connected and now, he's my dirty little secret. We are just friends, but no one really knows how close we really are with each other, and I like it just that way.
  
  I guess this song pretty much suits the situation I'm in; I'm keeping our 'special friendship' a secret.

  My Interpretation:I think, and its just my thought, but I think the song is about any secret. It could be something you only tell one person because it is eating you up inside and the person who knew before destroyed that trust, so you are telling this person in hopes they keep it. The secret could be anything from cheating to abuse, to a medical condition, or anything else. They never give any indication that it is about cheating so it could be anything. They say "I'll keep you my dirty little secret" meaning they are going to keep the secret it doesn't mean the secret is a person.

  General Comment:I think it's about the "other" girl in his life. He has a girlfriend, but this song is about the "buddy" he has on the side that he's trying to hide, and not doing a great job at possibly because the "other" girl is a mutual friend within his group of friends.
  
  So he's telling her that he's going to keep this all on the DL, and she should too because if she does, she'll just be another regret he has.

  General Comment:It is definitely about seeing a person who you want to keep a secret. It could be an affair or it could be that you're not ready or willing to parade this person around your friends & family and have to deal with everyone's judgment and opinions. That would take all the "FUN" out of your fling. It could mean that this person is no longer willing to put their feelings aside and deny how they feel about the person they want to spend time with, just to keep everyone out of their business. A secret is a way to have your cake and eat it too....have the relationship without dealing with all the fallout from having everyone's nose in your life. If it gets more serious as time goes on, then take the relationship out of the closet but not until then. Why deal with all the hassle over what might turn out to be temporary? That would be where the "regret" would come in...all the hassle and none of the fun. It must suck to live in the public eye where every date is scrutinized by the paparazzi and turned into something it's not. You'd have to learn to keep everything a secret to have any privacy at all.

  General Comment:ok i love this song and this song to me is bout him opening up to this girl 4 the 1st time with thi HUGE dirty secret and he's telling her that if she tells any 1 than he would regret every dating/being her friend/telling her.

  General Comment:This is a great song. One thing about AAR is that their songs can relate to relationships but are not always written about them. I agree with the people saying that its about everyone's little secrets that they have.

  General Comment:Nooo guys, I think it's about a love affair. I think the girl is his dirty secret that they are hding from everybody else because maybe they are having an affair or something. That's my theory .
