Its saying the exact opposite we'll stay friends, that point where the only possible reaction is to just go missing and get away from them. That point where you feel your lowest and you feel like you've lost everything.
Always see this as perfect prequel to 'Apply Some Pressure', which I think of as just picking everything up after you feel like you've lost everything.
PERSONAL BACKSTORY: My first love and girlfriend of 3 years cheated on me, broke up and wanted us to stay friends. But when she started sleeping with the guy she left me for and I really couldn't just stick around anymore. Felt like I'd lost so much; friends, wasted time, love. But staying friends is too much false hope atleast while you still feel the love, have literally just decided to go missing for lack of a better phrase and start to find how to start again.
But my opinion is just totally based on things that happened in my love life, just so you know :)
I think it could also be about a relationship, in wich the guy thinks he can't give the girl what she needs. He loves her, she loves him. He can't bear to see her with another, but he knows he has to go, because he thinks she deservers better? That's why he is going missing, so she can get over him..
The nothing left to lose sentence could point out the "i've already lost you, so i've got nothing left to lose" thing.
Maybe it's just that I interpretate it like this because my ex dumped about 10 weeks ago. Saying he still loves me, but he just needed to. After that I found out he always thought he couldn't give me enough attention and love...

All by all I just love this song. Expeciallu the "I sleep with my hands across my chest, and I dream of you with someone else." For me that indicates to dying whenever you think of your ex-lover with somebody else... Any thoughts on that?
but he now sees that he did like her but is too late. he's trying to tell himself to forget it and move on and just put it down as a regret but he can't and is struggling. "I feed my body with things that I don't need, Until I sink to the bottom" seems like a reference to getting drunk to help try forget about it but its not really working. "I sleep with my hands across my chest, And I dream of you with someone else" is him thinking about her but all he thinks about is her being with someone else instead of him.
"Going missing" is cause she is starting to consume his thoughts and he can't get over the fact he had a chance and didn't take it and just needs to get away from everything. its not going to happen so he just wants to get over her asap and sees that just doing his own thing for a while might help him do that.
Can totally relate to this song, was in a position like the above but didn't realise i liked her til it was too late. the regret haunts me.

the whole "nothing left to lose" part could mean that him and his ex keep arguing but he doesn't really cure because she's not his.

Could be a total mis-reading of the lyrics but to me this references alcohol, basically drinking himself into oblivion, hence going missing...basically hiding himself away from society and everyone to get over it, there is nothing for him to lose from giving up on the outside world.....
