When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

When the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

High up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
If you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears come streaming down your face
And I

Tears come streaming down your face
I promise you I will learn from all my mistakes
Tears come streaming down your face
And I

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Memory:Coldplay's songs are really amazing and they can heal all your wounds. They helped me a lot when I fealt like everything was lost.

Memory:I think this song is just tearful. I had a brain tumor when I was 13 years old. I've been living with it for 11 years and counting. I am a survivor. And everytime I listen to this song I get so upset. I am just so thankful i'm alive and safe. This song tells me that everything will be okay again and that I will be safe.

General Comment:Good band. Absolutely hate the song. I've been hearing it since fall 2009. It's boring. It was especially boring last summer. Coldplay has many excellent songs, though.

My Interpretation:I think that this song could be interpreted in many ways. It can apply to anything.
But, I think that this song is one that is trying to tell you that it's going to be okay; no matter what's going on.

General Comment:Chris said it was written for his wife Gwyn after her father passed away. So sweet and such a beautiful song. I wish I had a husband as amazing as Chris :)

"When you're too in love to let it go
If you never try you'll never know
    Just what you're worth."

When I was going through a breakup with my ex, these lyrics struck such a comforting chord with me, because I was trying to help myself realize I could do so much better than him, so I had to let him go in search for a better guy that I deserve.

General Comment:I always thought it was about people being traumatized by 9/11. 'When you try your best but you don't succeed, when you get what you want but not what you need, when you feel so tired but you can't sleep. Stuck in reverse.' Its like, They tried their best to forget and just move on, but they couldn't. Then Osama bin Laden was found and killed. They got what they wanted, but not what they need. They feel so tired but you can't sleep. Their afraid. "I hope I wake up!"

Stuck in Reverse. Its all they can think about. 9/11 is ALWAYS on their minds.

"Lights will guide you home" Of course the memorial lights in New York!
"And ignite you'r bones" Knowing that some people are EXACTLY like them.
"And I will try to fix you" The lights comfort them. They calm them down.

Its just that first part that reminds me of 9/11.

The second part after the first chorus reminds me of drug addicts. I think you know why....

Well, thats my oppinion on the song. Hope you like it!

General Comment:I really love this song. I love coldplay. Such a beautiful, almost tearful song. About someone who is always there for you. Even if they can't fix you, they will try.

    General Comment:oh people being bitter...

The story about this song being written for his wife Gwyneth Paltrow is true. Her father died and he tried to "fix" her and began writing this song on her father's keyboard.

To the person saying that she didn't even know him by the time this was written, they are married since 2003. The song was recorded 2004-2005!
