From an empty room on the first floor
As the cars pass by the liquor store
I deconstruct my thoughts at this piano
And it’s all that I can do to stay
But all the things that I didn’t say to you
before you moved across the country

And from the burning building where I lay
As I watch the stars become the day
The L.A. girls are lacing up their sneakers
They run the boardwalks and the beach
This fishbowl life is all they need
It’s everything I needed too
...until I heard the news.

I’ll send this message through the speakers
...You told me that you moved
I’ll cross this country on a frequency

I am slippin' through
I am slippin' through
I am slippin' into the airwaves
And this is nothing new
You are slipping through my fingers and into the airwaves
The static’s where you’ll find me...

From the corner by the studio
The gold-soaked afternoon come slow
I deconstruct my thoughts and I am walking by
And on Third Street, the freak show thrives
Santa Monica’s alive
Something’s not so right inside
Living with the news...

I’ll send this message through the speakers
...You told me that you moved
I’ll cross this country on a frequency...

I am slippin' through
I am slippin' through
I am slippin' into the airwaves
the static’s where you’ll find me
And this is nothing new
You are slipping through my fingers and into the airwaves,
into the airwaves

So hang on, it’s gonna be a hard day
So hang on, don’t panic, don't panic,
there simply is no need
It’s gonna be a hard day
It’s gonna be a hard day
Don’t panic, don't panic
we are hangin' in
we are hangin' in

I am slippin' through
I am slippin' through
I am slippin' into the airwaves
the static’s where you’ll find me
And this is nothing new
You are slippin' through my fingers and into the airwaves
into the airwaves

It’s gonna be a hard day
It’s gonna be a hard day
So hang on, don’t panic, don't panic,
there simply is no need
It’s gonna be a hard day
It’s gonna be a hard day
It’s gonna be a hard day
Don’t panic, don't panic
we are hangin' in
It's gonna be a hard day
we are hangin' in
it’s gonna be a hard day
We are hangin' in

General Comment:It fascinates me that he can stay so positive even when going through such hard times.
My best friend moved to another state about 2 months ago, and I haven't talked to her since. I would love to talk to her, but she was sent to a boarding school because she attempted suicide for about the 5th time... And there was really nothing else they could do. I just received my first letter from her, and that made me so happy.
But anyway, I really love this song. The feelings is felt so clearly, and it's beautifully written. Jack's Mannequin is always astounding.

    The gold-soaked afternoon come slow
I deconstruct my thoughts and I am walking by"

General Comment:I'm a singer/songwriter and this song just...is freaking genius..
Because I write music, I pay a lot of attention to things most people probably may not, with songs.
I have dissected this song a lot...a LOT. & I'm starting to think that parts of the melody were sort of stuck in Andrew's head, maybe he was singing "into the ...Airwa-a-aves!",
and I think the entire story leading up to the amazing chorus may be more or less constructed to support the music he had in mind.

The feeling of this song, apart from the intro verse, is more like exuberant joy and cleverness than missing someone.

"Don't panic! Don't Panic, there simply is no need"(AHHHHH!)...

    ...DAMN that's genius.

I was at the Promenade the other day and was driving down 4th street and saw the studio where the record was recorded and it's literally right next to the entire freak show. This song perfectly explains Orange Country "The LA Girls are lacing up their sneakers...this fishbowl life is all they need"

    Perfect

General Comment:I think it's about a girl who he didn't know was going to move, or he knew was moving but he was in denial. idk though, it seems like he realized what he wanted to say too late.

General Comment:i adore everything in transit
however, origniallly this was one of the few songs on the ablum i didnt like
after listening to it a few times though, i came to really love it
andrew is such a brilliant lyricist, and the lyrics in this song are so powerful, i espescially love ther fisrst two stanzas
i think this song is a better the death of the girl andrew (or whoever) loves
"i heard this message through the speakers
they told me that you moved
across this country on a frequency"
i think these lyrics infer that "you" didnt just move physically, but moved from this frequency, this world altogethor
"this fish bowl life is all the need
    it's everything i needed too
... until i heard the news"
this bit seems to be describing the hange in his life after her death
idk its just a theory, but i really love the song and the lyircs

General Comment:I think it's simply just about hanging on after a bad news(the breakup and then moving across the country). Andrew's saying it's not going to be easy, but he's hanging on. It's a perfect song to end an album based around a breakup.
