So then be off, find that I've lost my way in the city.
The streets and the thousands of colours all bleed into one.
I fall down, Heaven won't help me.
I call out, no-one would hear.
All of a sudden I've lost my way out of the City.

Stand tall, stand proud.
Every beginning is breaking it's promise.
I'm having trouble just finding some soul in this town.

Name on the faces in places - they mean nothing to me.
It's all they can do to be part of a queue in this town.
I fall down, Heaven won't help me.
I call out, no-one will hear.
"There'll be no tomorrow" they say, well I'll say "more's the pity."

Stand tall, stand proud.
Every beginning has broken it's promise.
I'm having trouble just finding some soul in this town.

Stand tall, stand proud.
Every beginning has broken it's promise.
I'm having trouble just finding my soul in this town.

Finding my soul in this town.
Keep on trying...
Keep on trying...
Keep on trying...
Keep on trying...
Keep on trying...
Keep on trying...
Keep on trying...
Keep on trying...

Na na na na na na na na....

General Comment:I didnt like this song an awful lot when i first heard it but overtime it grew on me. Still not my favourite and i can see why some people wouldnt regard it as a great oasis song. Nevertheless, certainly worth a few listens.

General Comment:horizonhb - the song you're thinking of is golden brown by the stranglers ... the opening riff is very similar

great tune - i think its about feeling alone in a world where everyone seems content to be just 'part of the queue'. Its about wanting to stand out of the crowd and feel significant. The final message is that you should never give up hope, never settle for being part of the queue - always keep on trying to stand up and be heard - keep on trying to find some soul in this town

General Comment:One of their best songs ever. A new level of music for Oasis.

General Comment:An amazing percussion driven feel to this song, Zaks drumming an 3/4 and the Cuban percussionist add so much more to a track that only would have been filled with a mellotron a couple of years beforehand.

General Comment:Noel says on an interview on the DVD that he was buying a pint of milk, and the line was really long, and there were 10 aisles but only one was open with some old lady going slower than ass. So he got fed up being "part of the queue" and jacked the milk. The rest of the song is kind of built off that line... loneliness... soullessness...

General Comment:I think there's a "I dont belong here" feeling and me too I try to find my soul in the city but it seems to be somewhere else. The city can be very depressing and affecting to me sometimes. Weird but I can't get used to my own city even though I've lived here forever. And I also search a soul in the city, that's what I do while the long walks, wandering around alone, sitting and watching the passers by in a park, on the bus, in a shop, .... Sometimes I catch a little glimpse but it generally ends up in frustration. So to me this song helps me express the undirectable anger and frustration to my city, where's the soul in it?
I think I don't belong to my city, I'll keep serching.

I need somewhere like this maybe:)

General Comment:I don't get this song - can someone tell me where the goodness of this song lies? I can't really stand it to tell the truth. There's nothing in this song that catches on. The solo, is quite nice, but elsewise, it's not much to say. Worst song on the album.

General Comment:This song is basically about noel going to buy a pint of milk near his home in london, and feeling like a nobody, and how we can all feel overawed by life in a big city sometimes. Good, but a BLATANT ripp off of the stranglers!
