Lyrics for Death of a Shade of a Hue as interpreted by testemunha

Death of a Shade of a Hue Lyrics
Over a sea of grief Scarlet died
Above her dying mind were fossilfied memory imprints
Of her favorite day
For a minute I stayed watching this brilliant display
Until a god with a broom came and swept them away

In their bereavement, all of her colorful friends
Turned to a milky gray depressing blend
Which incidentally made Gray feel inane
So he set off to find a less trite identity
One as stunning and bold as Scarlet used to be

I see that the only qualified option would be... RE-VAMPING... don't let something great die with something great. Keep it alive with thoughts and actions and never let that thing/person be forgotten. I'm sure we do things everyday... like... saying... "lalala" which... probably was started by some person who is dead now. And its not like they're really dead... because we still say "lalala" all of the time... even if there is no name to it. Don't be sad... keep the dream alive!

Why hasn't anyone commented on this song!? It is so great! I won't let it die!

Scarlet is such a suductive discriptive word... even though in this case its a name.

I think you're right that it's about a "legacy" living on after a person has died, but I haven't really looked too much into these lyrics.

The vocals on this song are gorgeous. Really beautiful.

I think it's about a sunset going away. When the sun is almost completely set it's scarlet. Also he says
"For a minute I stayed watching this brilliant display
Until a god with a broom came and swept them away"
which i think explains itself. He's making Scarlet and Grey to be conscious entities to.
