London
Quiet down, I need to make a sound
New York
Quiet down, I need to make a sound
Kingston
Quiet down, I need to make a sound
Brazil
Quiet down, I need to make a sound

They're coming through the window
They're coming through the door
They're busting down the big wall
And sounding the horn
And sounding the horn

[Chorus x 2]
What you want?
Bucky Done Gun
What you want?
The fire done burn
What you want?
Bucky Done Gun
Get crackin'
Get, get crackin'

Time to spit new shit
I'm rocking on this new bit
I'm hot now; you'll see
I'll fight you just to get peace

Heavy weight wrestler
Fight me in your comforter
Let you be superior
I'm filthy with the fury ya

London
Quiet down, I need to make a sound
New York
Quiet down, I need to make a sound
Kingston
Quiet down, I need to make a sound
Brazil
Quiet, I need to make a sound

I'll hard-drive your bit
I'm battered by your sumo grip
Lucky I like feeling shit
My stamina can take it
Gymnastics super fit
Muscle in the gun clip
Bite, teeth, nose bleed
Tied up in a scarf piece

[Chorus x 2]

Can I get control?
Do you like me vulnerable?
I'm armed, and I'm equal
More fun for the people
Physical, brute force
Steel lion, you're the boss
Yeah, you're so do-able
Grind me down, sugar, slow

[Chorus x 2]

General Comment:Pretty sure this song is supposed to be confusing. You'll never know for sure if it's about war or sex and that is supposed to symbolize the way we accept war nowadays. It's okay to simulate it in games like it's "entertaining". Countries feel "empowered" when they go to war. People think it's a game. It's not on their home soil so it's not their problem how severe it truly is.

And that confusion is what I see in this song. People don't even know what war is anymore, they think it's a movie, there is no point in making a genuine song about it because people are too arrogant to realize the devastation of people losing their relatives and hometowns. In my opinion she is trying to say "you think it's sexy, you think it's entertaining, I know how you'll feel once you have a gun to your head" sort of thing.

    Could just be me.

General Comment:I always think of a supressive government trying to catch a revolutionary that goes by Bucky Done Gun, and I know Bucky is a British slang word for gun, but still. That's just what I imagine.

General Comment:I hear "We want Bucky done gun, we want the fire done burn", which I thought was West Londoner slang for Buckingham Palace burning; a symbol of old imperialism falling to revolution. Even if bucky is britspeak for gun, the double meaning would be typical for MIA.

Oh and the rest of the song is mainly about sex...not all that subtle.

General Comment:in an interview with Ashlene Nand,[3] M.I.A. was asked "what the hell does “Bucky Done Gun” mean?". Her response was:

I don’t know!! (Laughs) I really don’t know. At the time, the concept that I was thinking of was how far we are going to go with gangster culture in rap music. That’s really what I was thinking about. I was thinking about 50 Cent. It started off as Public Enemy and ended with 50 Cent. What was that journey (for rap music) and how did that happen? In London, Bucky is a slang word for gun. It’s a real British, grime word. So I was thinking, what is the aftermath of gangster rap? Were they going to get into therapy?

copied it from wikipidia... lol hope it helps!!

General Comment:Not positive if it is meant that way, because I never knew what Bucky Done Gun meant, but I know in slang terms you can say "Jerry done went and tripped again" or "Jasmine done fell" or like M.I.A says "fire done burn". So if thats the case, Bucky Done Gun means that Bucky went and gunned something...Then she just states that she will fight for Peace meaning her Tamil people wanting their own government and land (Tamil Eelam) and letting the Sinhalese govern the rest of Sri Lanka.

First she tells everyone to quiet down because she has a issue in the world that does not get the needed attention, so to listen to the message and whats goin on

Tamil people are sonsidered the filth of Sri Lanka making "Im filthy with the fury ya" line pretty obvious. The wrestler part and comforter part I GUESS might be because she feels the Tamil people are Strong as a whole, and she'll fight the weak/coward government.

The government seemed to be winning the war at the time this was written (and have won this year) so thats why they got a Sumo Grip. Get it. She was a heavyweight wrestler meaning strong, but then they are referred to as Sumo. Which is Bigger. But she has stamina

The tied up in the scarf piece can mean many things. If its Piece then it could be a bandana that most revolutionaries wear. If its PEACE it could be because the Tigers put cyanide on bands so if they got captured they cna just inhale it and be considered a Martyr.

She armed and has just as much a right to the land and education and all that jazz as anyone else. Its more fun because then they want to fight over it. But she wants power

Most of her lyrics are about the civil war between the Tamil Tiger and the Sinhalese Government as well as songs just about wanting freedom. If you have this in mind with a little research ALOT of stuff makes sense in her music.

Physical-Brute force is what as used the whole war and so was Steel adn iron in the shape of guns.. That is what ruled the war (boss).. Little by little the government is "grinding" the Tigers and the Tamil people down

General Comment:Highly doubt its about the iraq war. the conflict MIA's life is embroiled in is with the rebel movement in Sri Lanka, hence the Tiger running through one of her music videos which represents the side her father fought. a quick wiki search can offer any needed insight into her past. It was an obscenely violent period in the country's history and is definitely the fire behind many of her songs. the Lyrics are sexual and suggests rape, not just rough sex. considering she says "more for the people" after describeing sexual brutality, the rape might refer to the war crimes that were commited during the rebellion. I knew a dj that mentioned something similar to this was official, but I can't find anything on the internet to verify that, sorry guys.

General Comment:I think that this song is about "makin' love, not war." M.I.A. seems to want to prove that a woman can change things to bring peace and make love just as well as any man can. "Bucky Done Gun" might mean that the people don't want war and wish their governments would put the gun down.
