He's angry because all he wants is for her to love him as much as he does her. He's very angry. All he wants is to be equal, level, whatever, as I said, he wants their love to be the same but right now she loves him less, therefore she has all the power in the relationship. This is where he becomes a fool. She can manipulate him into anything. He'll do anything, he'll do EVERYTHING he can to get this girl back, though she's relentlessly having him feel weak and angry, he has became her fool.
She has put him on a noose, without her, he will suffocate (become overwhelmed).
I'm going to go through the rest rather fast. He's discovered a hidden strength. Although he still feels a deep passion for this girl, he'll still survive. He knows this, therefore he refuses to go into depression.
He has untied her noose himself. She is not needed any longer.

It has so much power, feeling, and emotion in the music and in his voice. It always makes me feel so strong and that nothing can get me down when I listen to this song. I like how in some parts his voice gets a scratchy raspy sound. Musically and lyrically this song is extraordinary. I come to songmeanings alot lol but I actually just made an account now so I could rant about how much I love this song.
One time I heard this song was bout Kurt; alot of others say it's not, but to me it can be interpreted in the relationship way that alot of people are putting on here and also about Cobain. "I needed somewhere to hang my head without your noose" alot of people like Dave but still see him as never amounting to Cobain.
Same with this line: "I’ve got another confession to make, I’m your fool" and especially this line "Its real, the pain you feel. The life, the love. You die to heal"
Alot of people talk bout Cobain suffering and comitting suicide and that line seems like it could be in memory because of him cause "you die to heal" is like committing suicide to end pain. Of course this song can also be interpreted about a relationship.
Annnndd if I ever get to see them in concert they better playy this song cause it is the most amazing thing ever that ears could hear :]

I think its about being used in a relationship. And then the person being used tries so hard to get over them. Then the tables turn and the user becomes used and at first its like "haha, thats what you get." but at the end it seems a little empathetic. Like yea, it sucks, why do people keep doing it.

He likes this girl, but he thinks that she is being used by someone/she is a slut, so he says this to her because he's concerned about her.

But had no use"
He had never loved another woman as he loved her, but it was worthless because she didn't feel the same way about him.
Overall I think this song is a bout a guy that loves a girl, but this girl doesn't like him back. He tells her that he won't "give in" to stop loving her and he asks her "why can't you love me? is it because someone else is in your mind? Is it because someone else is getting the BEST OF YOU?"

this song depresses me.
yes, i know, its meant to be uplifting.
& i would be if i was in those shoes. being the abused one in the relationship, the one getting hurt.
but i was on the other side of that...
...it hurts that he left me. and i know he wants me back. but he wont because he's afraid of being hurt. he's afraid of me getting hurt.
but this song is just pure amazing.i was supposed to see them next week @ allstate in chicago, but ironically, i was supposed to go with the guy who i got "the best of".
i miss him...& not just because i wanted to see the foo live.

for one way, hes obviously talking about a girl that can't get her ideas and self together.
now this may mean two things. this girl could be sort of promsicuious and all over the place with men, or she could just not know who she is, and keep toying with him but not on purpose. she could have feelings for him but doesnt know why she cant just date him, so she has to let him go.
being that he is so attached to her, hes singing to her, "is someone getting the best, the best of you."
this whole song describes a story.
