Through the stars
Shine on
Get on
The planet

The stars shine on
They shine on this planet

The stars are projectors
Projecting all lives on down to this planet

The stars are on
And projecting all lives on to
This planet
Fine
I know everything

And the stars
They’re projecting our lives on down to
This planet
Oh yeah
The stars are watching as you
And said how
You get on your knee
You're mouthing my mood
If you were talking out loud
You’d say, “Uh, how’d they do?”

And I get my mouth
And my words
They can’t make use
To my mouth out of or my brain

And you say what you do
When you do what you said
You’re talking out of to
You’re talking out of threat
I want what
I get on
I get off
I get things you don’t want

And I walk to my head
And I walk through my hell
And I walk through my head
And I know I ain't going nowhere
And I talk myself
And I talk to my head
And I’m walking around
The planets they revolve around themselves
They evolve
You were talking to God
You were talking to mom
And you were saying things loud
And I was doing out loud
You said, “I can’t”

And the planets projecting theirselves around

And the stars
They're projecting our lives on this earth
And the stars are projectors
Projecting our lives on to this earth

I want you playing out
Even though your mouth and you said what you were worth

General Comment:Want my personal take? Isaac makes up a lot of lyrics and stuff whenever their just jamming on stage or wherever. From listening to this, to me, it definitely just sounds like Isaac's making up the lyrics as he goes. I mean they really don't make much sense, a lot like the way his lyrics don't make much sense when he's jamming and spitting them out in improvisation. My take is this was a jam sesh, it sounded real good so perhaps they decided to do some mixing and added effects and stuff and wah lah you have Calculus Man

Lyric Correction:"And I talk to my head" is to my ears and I believe to be 100% correct - "talk to my health"... reference... Fruit that ate itself. Same like is said on that Modest Mouse track.

General Comment:They were trying to decide whether to put this one or The Stars are Projectors on the album, and they chose the latter. They have 3 different recorded versions of this song available at archive.arcticsounds.org. You can find quite a few of MM's other unreleased stuff there too. I just wish this song actually talked about calculus! haha

General Comment:Isaac uses one's songs lyrics quite a bit. That doesn't mean they are like the same song at all

General Comment:i think this is one of those songs where the lyrics relate to what the meaning of the song is in such a minute distinct way that only the one who wrote it really knows what it means, or what its about, or if its about anything at all.

i'd like to know where this song came from, its not on any album, and its also not at modestmouselive.zeromethos.com

so if anyone could let me know, itd be cool

    General Comment:Ehh, I wouldn't it is 'obviously' a demo.

Look at how different the songs are. Musically, they have nothing in common besides lyrics..

Some songs by Modest Mouse share the same lyrics too, maybe this song was intended for release on The Moon and Antarctica but didn't make it?

General Comment:the lyrics here aren't fully correct, i've tried correcting them as best i can it's just kinda hard to hear them through the distorted, watery vocals. i may still be wrong but this is what i hear -

    These stars
    They shine on
    They get on
    The planet

    The stars they shine on
    They shine on this planet

    The stars are projectors
Projecting our lives on down to this planet

    The stars they are on
And projecting our lives on to
    This planet
    Fine
I don't care if they do

    And the stars
They’re projecting our lives on down to
    This planet
    Oh yeah
The (films?) are watching as you
    And said how
    You get on your knee
    You're mouthing my mood
If you were talking out loud
You’d say, “Uh, how’d they do?”

And I can't get my mouth
    And my words
    They can’t make use
To my mouth out of or my brain

And you say what you do
When you do what you said
    You’re talking out of tune
    You’re talking out of threat
    I want what
    I get on
    I get off
I get the things you don’t want

And I walk to my head
And I walk through my hell
And I walk through my head
    And I know I ain't going nowhere
    And I talk to myself
And I talk to my head
    And I’m walkin' round
The planets they revolve around themselves
    They evolve
If you were talking to God
    You were talking to mom
And you were saying things loud
Your mouth was movin' out loud
    You said, “I can’t”

And the planets projecting us all around

    And the stars
They're projecting our lives on this earth
    And the stars are projectors
Projecting our lives on to this earth

    I want you playing out
You moved your mouth and you said what you were worth
