Repeating in my head
Betrayal
Repeating in my head
Insecurities
Repeating in my head
Dividends

It's not your fault
The well of thought and trust has run dry
Don't be afraid to let go
Don't be afraid to start over when it's over

Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go

Let go of feelings
Let go of compromise
Hollow trunk for shelter
So dark and cold inside
I always seem to find myself alone
Jaded shell of being
Porous as a stone

Calloused
Rigid
Empty
Because of you

Let go of trusting
Lost thought for family
Let go of living
No more concerns of demise
I never seem to find rhythm for life's harmony

Contorted
Twisted broken
Without a reason

Calloused
Rigid
Empty
Because of you

It's all me
All you are
Without me
There's nothing else
There's no one

Brainwash
All you are
Without me
You're by yourself
There's no one

Hope is out of season
Lost sight
No hint of light
Get busy living or get busy dying

Calloused
Rigid
Empty
Because of you

It's all me
All you are
Without me
There's nothing else
There's no one

Brainwash
All you are
Without me
You're by yourself
There's no one

Save me
This loss
Closure my
Answer
So grant it

You owe me all that you are
Without me
You're nothing
You're no one

Terrified
Petrified

Nothing
You're no one
Do you care because I don't
Nothing
You're no one
Nobody cares so just go

Nothing
You're no one
By yourself all alone

It's all me
All you are
Without me
You're by yourself
There's no one

Brainwash
All you are
Without me
You're by yourself
There's no one

Save me
This loss
Closure my
Answer
So grant it
You owe me all that you are
Without me
You're nothing

General Comment:I'm pretty sure the 'Hope is out of season Lost sight No hint of light Get busy living or get busy dying' part is a direct reference to The Shawshank Redemption cuz that movies main theme is hope and get busy living or get busy dying is a direct quote from the movie

One of the greatest lines Mudvayne has ever written

My Interpretation:My view of this song is somebody like your closest friend or girlfriend or something fucking you over and making you feel like shit. My friend who was like my brother turned on me and this song explains it. Basically what people do to you makes you feel "calloused" "rigid" and "empty", but in the end, they are the ones that are the assholes. fuckin amazing song

General Comment:Basically, mudvayne's lyrics are for the masses to interpret. I listened to their interviews and I heard one of the members say that basically the fans can interpret it as much as they can. Because one will only question what they were actually thinking about. L.D. 50 though, you can tell immediately what chad was thinking O_o

General Comment:It seems every song ever written is about a relationship to you lot.

This song is infact about RELIGION.

    It's not your fault
The well of thought and trust has run dry
Don't be afraid to let go
Don't be afraid to start over when it's over

    Let go
    Let go
    Let go
    Let go

    and

    Brainwash
    All you are.

General Comment:I don't think there is any denying this song has multiple meaning depending on who reads it, which is great about mudvayne...my theory, is it's about religion or more or less giving up on it, "brainwashed all you are" "save me" "you owe me all you are" for me these lines strongly hint towards that, kinda like perversion of a truth. I don't think it is mudvayne's style to play songs about woman, since there is so much of that crap out there already.

General Comment:I love how much room for interpretations their lyrics have.
I thought about the love theory as well for a long time, but since I never experienced love I tend to search for other interpretations as well. Sometimes it fits, sometimes not (for example: "Goodbye" definitely refers to a person)
To me this song isn't about love at all, it's more an inner conflict. There's the "true I" and the "I for society". On the one hand the "society I" of him says that giving up all emotions is the only way to avoid loneliness, but on the other hand his "true I" can't handle this empty, cold state and feels even more alone when others are around ("I always seem to find myself alone"/"I never seem to find rhythm for life's harmony").

Quite interesting how many lyrics can be turned into something that fits you better. I love Mudvayne for that.

General Comment:Ilove this song though I think meaninig:
that god is enraged and he says
    "It's all me
    All you are
    Without me
    There's nothing else
    There's no one"
He says that he's the only one who can help
    "Nothing
    You're no one
    By yourself all alone"

General Comment:This song hits me harder than any song I have ever heard. It truly captures everything that I feel surrounding my most recent relationship. But for you to understand what this means to me, I must explain what has happened recently in my life.
In 2005 I fell in love and started living with a woman that totally completed me and made me happy. I loved her with all of my heart. Our relationship only lasted 10 months after we moved in together. I discovered she was a severe alcoholic. I had never dealt with this kind of thing before, so I didn't know the warning signs or ways to help. If youve dealt with this first hand, then you know where Im coming from. I tried so hard to get her to stop drinking. But the drinking only got more and more, and with it came lies and deceit. Eventually I had to do what I knew was my last and most painful option. I had to break up with her and force her to leave. I knew she had almost nothing left in her life. She moved across country with the assistance of an ex-boyfriend. She soon was living on her own with no one to monitor her problem. At this point it was fall of 2006. Last tuesday I received word that she had passed away from liver failure.
This song embodies everything from my discovery of her alcoholism all the way to her death.

    Contorted
    Twisted broken
    Without a reason

    Calloused
    Rigid
    Empty

The beginning to me is like reliving all the feelings I had when I was deciding to end our relationship, followed by the feelings of emptiness that I blamed her for following the break up.

    "It's all me
    All you are
    Without me
    There's nothing else
    There's no one

    Brainwash
    All you are
    Without me
    You're by yourself
    There's no one"

The chorus to me is like my way of telling her that she should have taken my advice and got help. That without me, she had no one else to help or care about her.

    "Hope is out of season
    Lost sight
    No hint of light
Get busy living or get busy dying"

This part makes me cry every time I hear it. I rarely cry but this hits me so deep. It paints the picture of how the was no more hope for her and it cost her her life.

    "Save me
    This loss
    Closure my
    Answer
    So grant it"

This part leaves me feeling the way that I truly feel today. I feel like I need closure on our relationship. But now, with her passed on, I feel like that will never be granted.

I must have listened to this song 100 times before last week and never thought twice about the meaning. But now, I cant even bring myself to listen to it anymore.

General Comment:Wow, am I glad I came here, because I never thought of this song being about his ex-wife. Though now that I see it, it makes just as much sense. They way I saw it was being screwed up by other people like parents, for example, and having the courage to forget all that was done to you and move on. How it isn't your fault, and that you better get over it or you're fucked.
