Lyrics for Talk as interpreted by delial

Talk Lyrics
oh, brother I can’t get through
I’ve been trying hard to meet you
‘cause I don’t know what to do
oh, brother I can’t believe it’s true
I’m so scared about the future
and I want to talk to you
oh, I want to talk to you

you can take a picture of something you see
in the future, where will I be?
you can climb a ladder up to the sun
or a write a song nobody has sung
or do something that’s never been done

are you lost or incomplete?
do you feel like a puzzle?
you can’t find your missing piece?
tell me, how do you feel?
well, I feel like they’re talking in a language I don’t speak
and they’re talking it to me

so you take a picture of something you see
in the future, where will I be?
you can climb a ladder up to the sun
or a write a song nobody has sung
or do something that’s never been done
do something that’s never been done

so you don’t know where you’re going
and you want to talk?
and you feel like you’re going where you’ve been before?
you tell anyone who’ll listen, but you feel ignored?
nothing’s really making any sense at all?

let’s talk
let’s talk
let’s talk
let’s talk

haha, im the first one to comment! lovely. now i wish i had something wise to say...... well this song is obviously about feeling a bit lost, feeling the uncertainty of love, relationships, life..... but i dont consider this to be a depressive song, cos uncertainty can be a guiding light, as bono says.

What an amazing song! It really hits home for me because i'm in a situation where I can relate to the lyrics on a very personal level. It's already one of my favorite songs by Coldplay, if not one of my favorite songs, period. Can't wait for the other songs from X&Y!

Does anyone think the opening to this song sounds very U2 like? Not like a U2 song, just similar styles.

The song is very good though and I'm looking forward to the new album.

To me, the song is about uncertainty and wanting to resolve this uncertainty.

The music for this song makes me want to travel somewhere fast.... Whether by train, car, bike, running, HOWEVER, just that type of music.
i suggest however, if u want to travel somewhere fast listening to this song... dont take bus!! stops too often!!

in the future, in the past
going nowhere much too fast

haha just realized the song actually mentioned it! GO ME!

wow. its the story of my life..

really. holy crap.... it scares me a bit. DEFINITELY about confusion and being lost. oh yes. and possibly knowing somebody else who is in the same situation and you want them to be with you but at the same time they're playing a big role in your confusion.

i love coldplay and i am thrilled about their new album...

When asked about the song, Champion: "It started off with a Kraftwerk sample [it nicks the riff from the German technocrats' Computer Love]. Chris wrote a letter to Ralf [Hutter, Kraftwerk kingpin] in German." Bassist Berryman: "The record company said, 'This has to be the first single.' So we scrapped it, re-recorded it, scrapped it." Martin: "I flew back to New York for a day and mixed it. Then I was able to enjoy it as a song, rather than 1012 ideas that weren't right."

Ok this is weird, I have TALK and the lyrics don't match the song. What the hell? Ive looked at other sites and the lyrics are the same but they don't match the song.

Under the great big stars
Try to work out where you are
In the silence of the sea...

Those are the first lyrics... I dont get it...

Anyway, I'm a big fan of KRAFTWERK and I have to say that Coldplay did a good job by using a "Computer Love" riff.

Gah! So I ran out and bought the CD first thing this morning. I am soooooo disappointed in the version of Talk on the CD. I agree that the other one is much much better. Why did they do this?!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought it'd be my favourite track on the cd...apparently not.

I really like the CD version, but then again I didn't really listen to the lyrics when I was listening to the first version of Talk.

I like this version better. the first was great, but this one is more finished, more polished. I love the chorus, and the way it represents the fear many of us have for the future.

what in the heck....they edited the lyrics i submitted..haha. aww :( I liked the original version's lyrics better, which are the ones I originally submitted. they made more sense to me than the album version's lyrics.

so, speaking of the original version ... those lyrics are so fitting for my life right now. I have no clue where my life is going, and it'd be nice if I could talk to someone about it who could shed some light on it at all.

sigh, growing up is lame.

I dont like the 2nd version (album version) compared to the 1st version, it is 100 times better. I agree with Jorge Lazaro, and about the lyrics... on the 2nd version... they arent as good as the 1st.

I totally agree with many of you. This song is about uncertainty for sure. But it could apply to many people because it does not specify that it is about uncertainty in love, in relationships, in friendships, in your career etc . . .
For me, it totally makes sense because sometimes I "feel like a puzzle" I can't find my missing piece. LIke, for me, I've got what I want and then some . . .but ther'es something missing still. Sooooo coool that they can just put down in words thoughts I couldn't pinpoint myself. But growing up is not lame. You just need to know that life is one big roller coaster ride. As much as we may feel lost, we just need to remember that it is an adventure, and it is fun!

It's cool because Colplay answers the question about what this person should do. Climb a ladder up to the sun, do something that's never been done. They're telling us to get out there and live our lives to the fullest. There are no limits and life is what you make of it. I love it. It is so inspiring and it really helps when I feel lost . . .

I hate the fact how Coldplay and U2 are being compared and contrasted. I don't have anything against U2, I just don't like how they're..UGH. I have issues to work out. It's a personal thing. Bwahaha.

I love this song - but I have only ever heard the album version. If someone could send me the original version, I would greatly appreciate it! Despite this, I think the song is about someone who feel that they've lost the ability to communicate to people, and as a result has lost a lot of what makes them...them :p

I can't help but wonder what the vocals and guitars would sound like with the Kraftwerk synth background. Especially if they started with the keyboard riff from Computer Love and then just threw on talk onto the back of it

ditto to dollface's comment. Why do music journalists need to find a new U2 or a new Smiths. Sure we're mostly done with the old Smiths, but the old U2 has at least some bite left in it. And now they're saying that Keane is the new Coldplay!! WTF? we aren't even close to done with the original coldplay. If it weren't for Q then I'd have a big ol' vendetta to work out
