I've met so many people who look the same,
Most were forgotten but you still remain,
Most of the time I don't care,
But London's so far away when you're there,
And so it saddens me to say,
I'm only happy when i move away

I am jung and I am lost,
Every sentence has its cost,
I am jung and I am lost,
You react to my riposte

We look out upon the sea,
The coast is always changing,
I'll bring my camera out to sea,
The coast is always changing

Age makes no difference till you open your mouth,
Use your time just to work things out,
I know that you can't understand,
When I tell you that this wasn't planned,
And so it saddens me to say,
I'm only happy when i move away

I am young and I am lost,
Every sentence has its cost,
I am young and I am lost,
You react to my riposte

We look out upon the sea,
The coast is always changing,
We'll take the train out to the sea,
My heart is always changing

It won't be long before you've gone,
I can't imagine leaving

We look out upon the sea,
The coast is always changing,
I'll bring my camera out to sea,
My heart is always changing,
We'll take the train out to the sea,
My pulse was always racing,
As we look out upon the sea,
The coast is always changing

And though it saddens me to say,
I'm still waiting for that day

General Comment:Maximo Park are from Newcastle, they are based there, but the band members were born in different parts!!

The song is about the railway line from Newcastle - The seaside, and everything in the tow changing, and the coast doing too, its reflecting on past expeeriances

General Comment:Actually, 'repast', too, is a word, even if it wouldn't necessarily make sense in the context of this song - it means food, or something taken as food. Shakespeare, among others, liked to use it. So, yeah, it is a word, and dropping the condescending tone seems like a good idea right about now.

General Comment:ok ok i'm sorry i thought riposte was not a word. don't know what i was thinking; i feel retarded. i'll try to redeem myself by telling you that i got an 800 on both the writing and critical reading sections of the SAT, but you probably won't believe me.
but anything about geordies or newcastle accents is NOT obvious to an american, so please drop the condescending tone.

General Comment:The song is quite nice. trying to clearly understand it only becomes easier when you suggest that this song was written with two narrators in mind. The man and his girl/partner/friend. They are speaking to one another about her/his moving away.

    It wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Riposte is a word. A classy one at that. It means retaliation, Retaliation means... just google it. Repast, however, isn't a word.

General Comment:Its about the effect of time. Evrything is constantly changing and so the good times we have as youngsters is brief and should be appretiated.

"I am young and I am lost"

Its a snap shot in our lifetime. I think it encourages us to enjoy life.

"I'll bring my camera out to sea"

    "The coast is always changing"

    General Comment:love this..

it's about time and things that you hope will last forever..

    'the coast is always changing'

something as immense and independant as the sea is never the same.

    i love the jangly stompiness.
