The meaning of this song is simple. It's about being in love. If you research this song on Youtube (look under Jason Mraz - Plane live), Jason Mraz mentions that this song is about him being in a long distance relationship. Obviously he's leaving this girl cause of work. He's devastated but he's still in love, no doubt. "I cannot wait to call you, and tell you I landed somewhere and hand you a square of the airport." So he's not breaking up with her, he loves her.. this song is about the situation he's in. He wants to be with her, but keeps leaving due to work. So while he's on the plane he thinks about the worst that could happen, him dying due to a plane crash.. cause that would be the end of his love with this girl, distance is not an issue.
