i love that you get to hear pete more in this album. especially the spoken word. cause it's pete, at the end,right? ...

anywho this is a grrrreat song... and the whole album is excellent from the first song to the last. i like how it kinda flows into XO !!

mayb, its lyke, some really cute boyz with pretty pants and the lead singer wears an awesome hat and i lyke the 1 song that every1 knows - i hope he is a gentleman lol!!!!! - so i d/led it lolz!!!!!!!!!

I love this song.
My friend got into a huge fight with me over what the song title is though, because I had the pre-released one or whatever. ;/

Anyways what does the line "I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts" signify? I have an idea, but I'd like to know I'm correct...thanks! :]

Is it just me or does the spoken word at the end sound freakishly like the opening to The Used's "I'm a Fake?" Both in terms of how it sounds and the singers voices! It took me by surprise.

Definitely one of my favorite tracks off of Cork Tree. Also, the title comes from the book and movie Shawshank Redemption, so bonus points for that.

Yesss, it sounded so much like The Used's spoken thing too. Like, the way it kinda builds up to the end when he screams. [does Pete scream in the end? I don't remember]

Anywaay, I like the song. But. I think the screaming part .. like when they alternate the voices for every word sounds a bit strange. It'll probably grow on me if I listen to it more.

haha, one of the best lines in the whole song in my opinion. to me this line is just them mocking the 'scene'. for the longest time everyone had something to do with hips and hearts everywhere. (example: 'shakin' hips bustin' lips. etc. etc.) then those two words got old and everyone moved on and got new words to over use. all in all good song...but i want to know whos speaking at the end and in the middle...anyone know?

I love the spoken word parts too, but does anyone else get the feeling that it's kind of tongue in cheek? When I first heard it, it reminded me of all the local, horrible metalcore/hardcore/whatever bands that play around here. I know Fall Out Boy have a background in hardcore and honestly (I could be wrong) but I think those parts were intended as parody.

The poem IS pete,a dn it's petes. The best part of that song is the poem. I know is word for word. but then again, I know all fall out boy word for word lol.

i love the middle spoken part! it's so awesome! and i love this line:
"Your secret's out and the best part is it isn't even a good one" haha it's so great.

i also thought it was interesting how the part:
"I used to obsess over living,
Now I only obsess over you"

is so similiar to the lines in "of all the gin and joints in the world" that goes:
I used to waste my time dreaming of being alive
(now I only waste my time dreaming of you)

awesome song! and yay i see fall out boy in exactly 2 weeks! sooo excited!
