Lyrics for I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And... as interpreted by BrandNew1208

I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And... Lyrics
I found the cure to growing older
And you're the only place that feels like home
Just so you know, you'll never know
And some secrets weren't meant to be told
I found the cure to growing older

I'm the first kid to write of hearts, lies, and friends
And I am sorry my conscience called in sick again
And I've got arrogance down to a science

Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's
So fitting of the way you are
You can't cover it up

Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip
I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped
Back to your family cause I know you will be missed

They call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone
But for what we've become, we just feel more alone
Always weigh what I've lost against what I left
Progress report: I am missing you to death

Someone old
No one new
Feeling borrowed
always blue
Someone old
No one new
Always borrowed
Always you

i think the cure togrowing older is talking about and putting down others. by telling others about his hookup with this girl he makes himself feel better. he says she should douse herself in cheap perfume because thats all she deserves. she is a cheap whore so all she deserves is cheap perfume (so fitting) but no matter how much she wears can't cover it up. and is it only me but what the hell are they talking about with the fingernails and bottle section? possibly murder? this is why i love fall out boy. their stuff is actually thought provoking and meaningful. this in direct contrast with much pathetic tripe out there. sorry if i'm completely wrong about this but forgive me, i'm new.

The cure to growing older is dying young. He's pissed that she cheated on him--she's a cheap whore, afterall--and so he's going to kill her. This is shown in two lines: "Progress report: I'm missing you to death" and "I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped
Back to your family cause I know you will be missed".

This song is definetly one of my favorites off the new album. It's an awesome song about, at least I think, a girl screwing with a guy and not being able to shut your mouth, "Just so you know, you'll never know
And some secrets weren't meant to be told." Something happened between the two that should'nt have been shared with others and now he's pissed.

He's mad that she's screwing around like this, but he's thinking only through himself, taking it out on her, "And I am sorry my conscience called in sick again
And I've got arrogance down to a science."

The chorus to me is him saying that he's done so much that she should, "Douse yourself in cheap perfume." This is beacuse she's obviously cheap, some whorish kind of girl I guess and it's, "So fitting of the way you are." The last part is him just saying that no matter what she does, her image won't change, "You can't cover it up."

"Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip
I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped
Back to your family cause I know you will be missed"
This verse seems like he's so pissed at her that he's going to ruin her life, hence the whole, "Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip." This next part is compeltely my own interrpretation but the whole nails part is that she's so scared she can only bite her nails and turns to drinking to try and help her fear. He's ruining her life more by showing this to her family.

"They call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone
But for what we've become, we just feel more alone
Always weigh what I've lost against what I left
Progress report: I am missing you to death."
He's saying that people think that he's taking things too far and is not going to do anything about since no one can get through to him. Since he's like this, there's no one there for him and he realizes that, "Always weigh what I've lost against what I left." Possibly he realizes what he's doing enough that he misses her just a little.

"Someone old
No one new
Feeling borrowed
always blue
Someone old
No one new
Always borrowed
Always you"
This is talking about how people have came and gone and it's making him feel like crap, "Always blue." He feels borrowed because people just leave him as easily as they go to him, and it's constantly reminding him of this girl.

So yeah, that's what I think.

Until you really look at the lyrics, it sounds like a non-violent song.
Then you read the lyrics.
This is why I love Fall Out Boy.

So this is the one song on the new album without a sexual innuendo. the guys posted on their website that there was only one song without one.. this is it. the title isn't an innuendo, it's a blantant reference. slightly amusing, hm?

awesome song. just wow...

Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's
So fitting of the way you are
You can't cover it up

nice. it's just talking about how you can't cover up a certain trait that you might have. a girl was fake and told his lies. he's pissed. she slept with a member of fall out boy and all she got was this stupid song- she was ungrateful for the relationship and didn't take things into perspective.

that is all.

i like this song, but the title is ripped right from the Daughters. unless they both took it from somewhere else or it's just a common name. idk

If anyone's wondering what "Someone old / No one new / Feeling borrowed / Always blue" refers to, it's a play on "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue", which is traditionally what brides wear on their wedding day.

I agree with a lot of the comments made so far they seem to me to be right. One thing i noticed was that the stanza

Someone old
No one new
Feeling borrowed
always blue
Someone old
No one new
Always borrowed
Always you

is that "Old" "New" "Borrowed" and "Blue are used repeatedly and as u might know when u get married the bride is supposed to have something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Im not sure how it would tie in to the overall mood of the song, maybe its just a coincedence but i found it odd.

I agree with all the previous stuff about it.
In simple ness i agree that he slept with a whoreish girl, she used him, he was pissed, he regrets it, he feels 'borrowed always blue' [yes - traditional wedding shizz] and yeh he just thinks she only deserves cheap perfume and thats all she is, someone who only wears cheap perfume... kinda yer

Reading your lovely detailed deep and meaninful meanings may help me with my english essays. THank you!

I Love fall out boy. bye

I agree with brentkid. This is my new favorite song now, let alone on the cd. I love the line:
They call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone
But for what we've become, we just feel more alone

In the line "Some secrets weren't meant to be told", I think the "secret" is the cure to growing older, not something that she shared that she wasn't supposed to. this song is amazing...the vocals are awesome. the only part I dont like is the screaming in the middle. it kinda ruins the mood of the song a little bit, but it's still awesome.

The title is based on a Pearl Jam T-Shirt that said " I slept with my mom and all i got was this Song written about me and a T-shirt.".....

No, the title just comes from the t-shirts that say "My [insert relative or friend here] went to [insert place here] and all I got was this stupid t-shirt."

Nobody stole it from anybody, it's just a cliché catchphrase from a t-shirt, one that has been reused, recycled, and reworded countless times (like with the Daughters and Pearl Jam).

As for this song, it probably is one of the best on FUCT (which I found to be, overall, slightly disappointing). FOB focused too much on the concepts and ideas behind the thematic, innuendo-laced album rather than on the music itself. Their messages may be good ones, but messages don't mean a thing if the music falls flat.

I really think of this song as more of a self-parody. He's mocking the guys who write song after song attacking the girl who broke their heart, and subsequently think that broken heart is the end of the world. All the while, these kids believe they're the only ones who know what they're going through ("I'm the first kid to write of hearts, lies and friends").

That being said, this song makes a statement about the maturity of label-obsessed, music-elitist scene kids: "the cure to growing older" is simply staying immature, close-minded and self-centered forever.

I think it's just about going around and sleeping with slutty girls because he is in a band.
