Lyrics for 7 Minutes In Heaven (Atavan Halen) as interpreted by BrandNew1208

7 Minutes In Heaven (Atavan Halen) Lyrics
I'm sleeping my way out of this one
With anyone who will lie down
I'll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down

I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
But you've got me looking in through blinds
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type

I知 sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own
I知 sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own

The only thing worse than not knowing
Is you thinking that I don't know
I'm having another episode
I just need a stronger dose

I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
But you've got me looking in through blinds
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type

I知 sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own
I知 sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own

I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
But you've got me looking in through blinds
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type

I知 sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own

I'm not defending Good Charlotte or Simple Plan in any way (all pop "punk" is shit) but Tool sucks.

Maynard's nothing but a gay midget who has managed to fool stupid teenage pseudo-intellectuals like you into thinking that he's a "deep, musical genius." All Tool does is play a bunch of boring riffs and annoying drums (that somehow gets passed off as "amazing technical instrumentation"), then write "insightful" lyrics about the typical stuff (death, degradation of society, armageddon, other angsty shit, etc.), and then randomly place in obscure references from the Bible, mythology, and books that high school students have to read in English and Psychology class, passing it off as "intelligent" music. And then all the Tool fans are suddenly like "OMFG!!! Maynard wrote a song about his penis! Let's go fellate him!!11 He is GOD!!!LOLOL!!!!!!1111111!!!" Not even Trent Reznor is THAT overrated. God, if there's one thing I hate more than Tool, it's self-righteous Tool fans. I mean, even Tool hates Tool fans (Hooker with a Penis, Ticks And Leeches).

All of you guys...

Iv said this SO many times on other songs...

The point of "SONGMEANINGS.NET" is so people can give theyre opinion on the songs MEANING.

Not of the song itself, or the band for that matter.

Now please, everyone apologize, and play nice.

And, on that note, I think this is a song full of regrets.
Look at the Chorus, and see what it means to you.

"I'll be stuck fixated on one star

it's saying that no matter what is going on he's gonna have his mind on this girl

"Trying to forget everything that isn't you"
although he may not be able to get her he's not gonna stop thinking about her and trying for her and he wants to forget everything else

ok. so im like the biggest F.O.B fan.
i have talked to pete, met patrick and andy
and been to see them a number of times.
this song (one of the top 3 on the album) is all about Pete's battle with depression and pressure after the success of "Take This to your Grave".
"Im not going home alone, cause i dont do too well on my own"--he is not going to quit and overdose
"i keep telling myself, im not the desperate type..but you got me looking in thru blinds"--he keeps thinking he doesnt need the pills but he cant see any other way out.
trust me, pete is a deep guy who definitly doesnt leave the true meaning of anything he writes on the surface.
hope u can enjoy the song for what its worth now!

ps- Brendan from "Panic! at the Disco" sings the second part of "i keep telling myself, i keep telling myself..." in the song. if u listen, u can totally tell its not patrick.

L

"Atavan is the name of the depression medication that Pete almost overdosed on"

...but isn't that spelled "ativan"?
Also, does it have something to do with the band Van Halen?

reminds me more of when Pete flipped out (ie, really really flipped out) and got all paranoid about his own mortality and almost OD'd on atavan than being about a girl.

haha.

This song rocks pretty big ass dont it. Well basically, its more simple than all of you are saying. A guy asked a girl to a dance, and he said no. Hes practically in tears, so he has to think about her while he sits on the wall alone, watching happy couples as they dance, a kinda bittersweet thing. He gets with anoter girl, but tries to ignore the fact that he doesnt like her much, he forets everything, and while hes with this girl, he only this of the girl he asked and the girl he should be with.

LCainer is right. I have also talked to pete, and we discussed this song. Pete's lyrics aren't always a girl- boy situation, even though they may sound like that.

To weareyounglove, I completely agree. Thats what I love about FOB. Their lyrics can be the typical boy-girl love hardships, or you can actually do research and find out the true meaning behind them. In this case, this is also about Pete's near suicide, I think, and his attempt to recover.

Go Listen to the intro of this song and the intro to Panama by Van Halen, and at the end of the song, when David Lee Roth is talking, the guitar in the background is playing the dadada dadada dadadada dadad doodoodoo doodoodoo part.
Props to my parents and best friend for their music collection!
