    General Comment:I have always loved this song since the very first time I heard it, I had heard that Sinead cried when thinking of her Mum, then I heard she sang this lyric about her son that had passed, when I tried to sing this song with her child or mine in my head I could not get through it, I broke down and cried, I'm crying as I write this, the lyrics are beautiful, my child is alive and well but this song just touched me in all the right places. Love to you all.

    General Comment:its actually dustin kensrue doing this song solo (acoustic mind you) when he had his little side project called ursus veritas. thrice as a band, as far as i know, never covered this song. does a damn good job considering the original is one of the more powerful songs of the last 20 years.

FIRSTLY MAY I SAY WHAT A FANTASTIC SONG IT IS, YES WRITTEN BY PRINCE ABOUT GIVING UP SMOKING, GO BACK AND READ THE LYRICS AGAIN, AND THAT IS WHY THIS SONG IS GENIUS BECAUSE SO MANY THINK ITS ABOUT BREAKING UP/LOSING A LOVED ONE, I SUPPOSE GIVING UP SMOKING COULD BE DESCRIBED AS LOSING SOMETHING YOU LOVE.

    General Comment:The song was written by someone else, but at the time her mum had cancer or died of cancer and the moment in the video where she cries.
    she actually cries( for her mum).( real emotion) in the video.

    General Comment:Just to let you guys know. This song was originally written by Prince but was first performed by a band he put together called 'The Family'. Their big hit off the album was 'Screams of Passion' and this was one of the fillers. St. Paul originally sang it for the band and the other main singer was Wendy's sister from the revolution. Jerome from the time was also part of the band. So any thoughts that it was written about someone in Sinead's life is just Urban Legend. Prince eventually sang his own version of this song. Just to let you know they were also supposed to perform another song on the Album called 'Kiss' but prince heard the tracks in the studio and decided to do the song himself which he had every right to since he wrote it.
    Don't EVER question my knowledge on his royalty!!!

    General Comment:Those saying it's a Prince song are correct: He did the orginal version, which is also awesome. O'Connor was given permission to remake her wonderful version of the song, which she sang in memory of her mother. The second version of the video(the one they showed on the music stations)was done in one take, and the tears she shed were real.
