Lyrics for Lyla as interpreted by ScatScat

Lyla Lyrics
Calling on the stars to fall
And catch the silver sunlight in your hands
Come for me and set me free
Lift me up and take me where I stand

She believes in everything
In everyone and you and yours and mine
I waited for a thousand years
For you to come and blow me out my mind

Heyyyyy Lyla
The star’s about to fall -
So what you sayyyy Lyla
The world around us makes me feel so …
Smallll Lyla
If you can hear me call and I can …
Sayyyy Lyla
Heaven can I help you catch me if I … fall

She’s the queen of all I’ve seen
And every song and city far and near
Heaven held my memories still
She ring the bell for all the world to hear

Heyyyyy Lyla
The star’s about to fall -
So what you sayyyy Lyla
The world around us makes me feel so …
Smallll Lyla
If you can hear me call and then I can …
Sayyyy Lyla
Heaven help you catch me if I … fall

Heyyyyy Lyla
The star’s about to fall -
So what you sayyyy Lyla
The world around us makes me feel so …
Smallll Lyla
But you can hear me call and I can …
Sayyyy Lyla
Heaven help you catch me if I … fall

A great sing-a-long song. "Hey!!...Lyla!!" Everytime I hear this song I cant but help sing that line. Another top oasis song, one of my favourites from DBTT.

This song is not as bad as people are saying, but it's certainly not one of Oasis' best. The new album is actually pretty good and "A Bell Will Ring", "Keep the Dream Alive", "Let There Be Love", "Turn Up the Sun", and "Love Like a Bomb" are all better than this song.

I love Oasis but they need another album that is different than the same pop songs they have been writing. Radiohead blows Oasis away too with almost every song.

I've noticed that most of the compliments and the criticisms of this songs are the same observation.
People who don't like it say it "sounds the same as every Oasis song".
People who like it say it's "a classic Oasis song".
You're all saying the same thing, in different ways. I'm pretty sure it boils down to:
People who like Oasis like this song.
People who don't like Oasis...don't.

Ha. Chocolate, you idiot. Next time you use some of Noel Gallagher's lyrics as evidence for the argument that he's the "best lyricist ever" — Oasis is my favourite band, but even I know that's not true — make sure you listen to them first and check that they're correct. "Heaven held my memories still" should actually read, "Heaven-Hell my mademoiselle". Go on, listen to it yourself, and if you're still not sure, consult the album notes.

The irony is that the correct lyrics aren't even coherent, let alone inspiring.

Lol Miranda, that is an interesting interpretation of the song...

This song is totally about sex. "Come for me and set me free" that is a very sexual innuendo. The whole thing about stars falling is about his orgasm. "If you can hear me call and I can …
Sayyyy Lyla" that is about him calling her name whenever he has an orgasm.

OK the bottom line on this Oasis Resurection (IMO) is how they fair in the States........ I could give a shit how they do in the UK they always do well there.... give it half a year and then if they are still getting airtime then they are back..... the reviews have been very mixed.... some good (even really good) some bad (even REALLY bad). Personally, I like the album it has a very good flow, good music, and a lot better writing than a few of the previous efforts............... on Lyla, I didnt like it at first, after three or four listens, it's a good song not great....... best song IMO is THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE..........

This song really reminds me of Definitely Maybe songs like Cigarettes and Alcohol and Shakermaker. I think Oasis' referring to DBTT being the "best album since What's the Story?" is an understatement, as I found What's the Story? quite a disappointment.

At first I thought Lyla was boring and Oasis weren't moving on to anything new, I still believe this a bit but the song is growing on me. I heard a few of DBTT on a DVD and I have to say this looks like the best song on it. :-)

OH MY GOD. most of you are retards!! "I haven't actually heard this song yet, but I know it’s gonna be shit."

"Many would agree with me that radiohead write depressing shit."

and the list goes on. This website is for people to write helpful, meaningful things. not "OASIS ARE SHIT" ok!? respect other peoples views... and also it would help if you actually listened to the album before saying its shit ok? some of you really need to GROW UP ok?

I personally think that this is a good song, and the new album is AMAZING. but 'Lyla' is by far not the best on the album.

(P.S. its quite sad that some of you guys are going 'MY BANDS BETTER THAN YOUR BAND'... you sound like 5 year olds. I am 15, and I'm guessing your older, and I have more maturity than you do!)
