Lyrics for Under Pressure (with The Used) as interpreted by ILoveGerardWay

Under Pressure (with The Used) Lyrics
Pressure, pushing down on me
Pressing down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure, that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets

That's o-kay
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming `Let me out'
Pray tomorrow takes me higher
Pressure on people, people on streets

O-kay
Chipping around, kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours

People on streets, people on streets

It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about,
Watching some good friends
Screaming `Let me out'
Pray tomorrow takes me higher
Pressure on people, people on streets

Turned away from it all, like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love
But it's so slashed and torn
Why why why?
Love love love love love love love

Insanity laughs, under pressure we're cracking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love one more chance
Why can't we give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love

Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care
For the people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves

This is our last dance (x2)
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Under pressure

I like when Gerard and Bert do all the 'Um ba ba bay
Um ba ba bay Doo day duh Ee day duh', which you failed to note. Anyway, I thought the song had to do with Freddy and aids. Lots of their fans try to deny it so much. Face it Queen fans, Freddy was gay and if not gay, bi. It's okay to accept. I think thats one of the reasons MCR and The Used picked this song to cover, cause they're anti homophobic. Which is really cool. It's an awesome song and these two awesome bands do a very good rendition of it.

Yeah, they played this when I went to taste of choas...they were like "we're gonna cover this song because we f-ing hate vanilla ice". don't know what the meaning is but it was fun to watch.

when 'ice ice baby' came out he was accused of sampling the bass and piano riffs from 'under pressure' without getting permission or crediting the song/artists...there were claims that he was sued for it, but i'm not sure how far it went.

I attended the Taste of Chaos tour when it made it's stop in Saskatoon, and I'd just like to point out that these two bands absolutely destroy live and if you ever get the chance to see either of them, I reccomend it fully.

The concert was amazing, and The Used had just exited the stage when the chants of "one more song, one more song" started to ripple through the floor. No one was leaving, and then for the two bands to show up on stage at the same time drove me and the rest of the adrenaline-fueled crowd wild. As Gerard broke into his "this song was originally recorded by Freddie Mercury and David Bowie..." I grabbed my dread-lock mopped friend and starting yelling with what little voice I had left "UNDER PRESSURE! OH MY GOD IT'S UNDER PRESSURE!!"

I think they did choose to cover this song because of their anti-homophobia, as bullets&love cleverly pointed out. Need proof? As Bert and Gerard made their way to the front of the stage, Bert grabbed Gerard's face in both hands and planted a big one right on his lips. Not to mention that Bert thinks the song is "f-cking amazing!"

This song is an important one none the less, and so is the fact that it's being covered by The Used and My Chemical Romance. It's great to see bands that support the "Music for Relief" charity for the tragedy in Asia. It's also important on a musical level, because it's starting to mark the time where collaborations can be made between great bands that have something to say, play great live music, are friends with one another, and are downright cooler than rap artists and pop musicians. These bands, and many others, are starting to mark a new generation of popular music among teens and others alike, and I was glad to be a part of a special moment that was this song.

I should also mention that the studio version of the song was made available for purchase on iTunes today. Think about buying it, not only because it's a fantastic song, but because it is for a great cause.

Odd_one, I can! Queen and Bowie! (Bowie wasn't a band per se, but whatever). They did the original, and, might I add, they did it better. MCR and The Used totally ruined this song.
(Also, John Deacon (Queen's bassist, in case you don't know) could outplay Mikey Way while asleep, hanging upside-down off a branch).

this song is good, i like the fact that thye did it for charity and all, but this relly looks like the beginning of the end for mcr. they are so good, and talented, but they are slowly becoming more popular with the masses, and more commercialized. pretty soon theyre gonna become over played/popularized sell-outs, and that wud totally suck. i think the only reason i like the song, is b/c i think mcr can do no wrong, theyre #1

'Child_Of_Music', it's because of you that many young (and also older) people feel excluded from the 'scene'. This site is called 'Song meanings' because you're supposed to derive the MEANING of the song, not fuck about saying 'OMG so and so can play this so much better than whoever you like', so get a life, dumbass

child of music is the only sane persone here. no one should ever cover that song unless you're queen and david bowie. roia yeha no one mentioned what the fucking song was about they just said how fucking awesome those two shitty bands rock. worst fucking cover ever. that guy from my chemical romance is fucking horrible. under pressure has to be up there with one of the greatest songs ever written so its sacred so no one should ever cover it. those two fucking bands should be taken out and shot in the face

magmar...i have yet to hear this song yet, but since i am a fan of the used, i am sure it is not the 'worst' cover ever made. for you to say that, well then you must have never heard of Me First and the Gimmes Gimmes. You listen to them and come back here and bitch about this 'horrible' cover. and roia is right, this is SONGMEANINGS.net, not pleasevoiceyourshittyopiniononbands.net. and to bullets&love... everyone that knows anything about Queen knows that Freddie Mercury was gay...

Okay, this song is definately going on my top-ten list of awful, unnecessary covers. in fact, it might even challenge t.a.t.u.'s godawful cover of How Soon is Now for dominance of the list... see, the point of a cover, or what I always thought the point was, was to add something to a song. A new perspective on it, perhaps. A different take on its meaning and relevance. The only thing that MCR and The Used added was tuneless singing.

And I offer no interpretation of the lyrics here. To do so on MCR's page and not Queen's or Bowie's would be immoral and wrong, so suck on that, teenyboppers.

ok if you people dont like the cover you are gay.

And do you know why. Because Queen and David Bowie apparently didnt mind the song being covered by The Used and MCR at all, because may i remind you, before a bands covers a song, they must check with the originals singers/writers and get their permission.

So apparently Queen and Bowie didnt mind too much :)
