Everything you think you know baby
Is wrong
And everything you think you had baby
Is gone

Certain things turn ugly when you think too hard
And nagging little thoughts change into things you can't turn off
Everything you think you know baby
Is wrong

It's all over but the crying
Fade to black I'm sick of trying
Took too much and now I'm done
It's all over but the crying

Do you really think I'm made of stone baby?
C'mon!
That we only love the things we own?
Baby you're wrong

Certain things just happen when you make no plans
And love can really tear you up and it can break you down
Everything you think you know baby
Is wrong

It's all over but the crying
Fade to black I'm sick of trying
Took too much and now I'm done
It's all over but the crying

Baby we're done

If I could I would
I'd change everything
Cause I can't forget you though you don't believe me
Now I can't walk back
I can't leave behind
Where does it go all the light that we had?

Everything you think you know baby
Is wrong
And everything you think you had baby
Is gone

Baby we're done

General Comment:I've always thought of this song as a problem from the man she was dating or well, she used to love.. She discovers how selfish and arrogant he really is as the relationship is on the go... She really likes him but she knows that attitude on him is just crap... "baby we're done.. if I could I'd change everything cuz I can't forget you though you don't believe me"

ALSO.. the line "do you really think I'm made of stone baby, cmon!!"

it's like he was expecting she was like him and think the same way he does. BABY, it's wrong...

    :/

I love this track. I wonder why Shirley rarely sang this live.... I think this is the song Shirley's more stuck at. I read somewhere this song was so important for shirley.. cuz reminds her of an ex.

General Comment:Yeah, I do agree it is about a relationship ending. But, I'm surprised no one saw this...

"That we only love the things we own?
    Baby, you're wrong"

Just wanted to contribute that I think she was still in this relationship, abused by him, and cheated on him because of the lack of affection he showed.

General Comment:I reckon it's definitely about the end of a relationship...they've tried and tried, and cried and cried...and now it's all over...except the crying, of course. It's finally admitting the relationship needs to die.

General Comment:I think Lollipop6 is on the same track as me kind of.

It doesn't have to mean they are in a relationship.

"Everything you think you know, baby
    Is wrong
And everything you think you had, baby
    Is gone"

-She thought they'd just end up together eventually, almost like they were already together. Then everything changes.

"Certain things turn ugly when you think too hard
And nagging little thoughts change into things you can't turn off"

-They can't be together and she can't stop thinking about him.Every second of the day kind of thing.

"Fade to black, I'm sick of trying
Took too much and now I'm done
It's all over but the crying"

-She gives up ('cos something has went wrong) For ages she 'planned' everything...but in her head. She's decided she needs to get over him,but it's not that easy.

"Do you really think I'm made of stone?"

-The 'change'...Does he really think it wouldn't effect her/hurt her

"That we only love the things we own?"

-They wasn't actually together so it couldn't have been real and wouldn't have worked.

"Certain things just happen when you make no plans"

-She thought everything would just fall into place 'cos it was 'meant to be' but everything changed and it's been a waste of time.Kidding herself that it might have happened.

"And love can really tear you up and it can break you down
Everything you think you know, baby
    Is wrong"

-After all the time,it's been hurting her so much && she's just been waiting to be with him.He didn't know how much it's has hurt her though&&never will.

    "If I could I would
    I'd change everything"

-Shes trying to move on...but she has nothing to move onto 'cos he's all she ever wanted.

"Cause I can't forget you though you don't believe me
    Now I can't walk back
    I can't leave behind
Where does it go all the light we had?"

-She can't move on.Everything seemed like it would be so perfect. She thought they were perfect for eachother.

    "Baby, we're done"

-She knows she doesn't have a choice but to leave it and walk away.

General Comment:i actually think it doesnt have to do with a relationship. its about unrequited love.

this girl believes that her crush loves her back. she thinks she has a chance and even though shes shy shes trying to show affection. then she finds out that he has a girlfriend and all her hopes die but her love doesnt die. shes depressed and cries because she wants to get over him, knowing she doesnt stand a chance.

General Comment:Personally, I've always thought that this song describes the emotions of having had an abortion.

"Everything you think you know, baby
    Is wrong
And everything you think you had, baby
    Is gone"

    * Here it talks about thinking they were doing what was best, but realizing everything (the baby, maybe their relationship, their innocence, etc. is gone.)

"Certain things turn ugly when you think too hard
And nagging little thoughts change into things you can't turn off
Everything you think you know, baby
    Is wrong"

    * Here it talks about the decision they made and all the prior thinking about what they should do, and perhaps, regretting it now, can’t stop replaying it over and over.

“It's all over but the crying
Fade to black, I'm sick of trying
Took too much and now I'm done
It's all over but the crying”

    * Now everything is over and there is nothing left to do but cry and grieve and wonder if they did the right thing, and it’s too much to bear.

“Do you really think I'm made of stone?
    Baby, c'mon
That we only love the things we own?
    Baby, you're wrong”

    * Here she is talking about the fact that it’s breaking her up, and she is mourning the loss of something she doesn’t even have and technically never did.

“Certain things just happen when you make no plans
And love can really tear you up and it can break you down
Everything you think you know, baby
    Is wrong”

    * She is trying to rationalize it, and explain it to herself. The pregnancy was unplanned and she thought she made the best decision. She’s trying to remind herself of this now that it’s over.

    “Baby we're done”

    * Here she could be referring to the lover or to the baby.

    “If I could I would
    I'd change everything
Cause I can't forget you though you don't believe me
    Now I can't walk back
    I can't leave behind
Where does it go all the light we had?”

    * This lyric shows how that part of her wishes she could take it all back. She can’t go back or change it now, but she can’t get over it/let it go either. Now that it’s all over, she’s changed by it, which is the reference to the light being gone.

General Comment:It describes life at it's lowest ebb (in this case, when Shirley's relationship has failed). I've been a garbage fan since Stupid Girl came out. I was only 5!
