Lyrics for Beverly Hills as interpreted by whybother737

Beverly Hills Lyrics
where I come from isn\'t all that great
my automobile is a piece of crap
my fashion sense is a little wack
and my friends are just as screwy as me
I didn\'t go to boarding schools
preppie girls never looked at me
why should they?
I ain\'t nobody
got nothin\' in my pocket

beverly hills
that\'s where I wanna be
(gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
living in beverly hills
beverly hills
rollin\' like a celebrity
(gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
living in beverly hills

look at all those movie stars
they\'re all so beautiful and clean
when their housemaids scrub the floors
they get the spaces in between
I wanna live a life like that
I wanna be just like a king
take my picture by the pool
cuz I\'m the next big thing

beverly hills
that\'s where I wanna be
(gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
living in beverly hills
beverly hills
rollin\' like a celebrity
(gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
living in beverly hills

the truth is I don\'t stand a chance
it\'s somethin\' that you\'re born into
and I just dont belong
no I don\'t
I\'m just a no class beat down fool
and I will always be that way
I might as well enjoy my life
and watch the stars play

beverly hills
that\'s where I wanna be
(gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
living in beverly hills
beverly hills
rollin\' like a celebrity
(gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
living in beverly hills

Great song. Hearing this song without hearing the speaking part and final verse would probably give people a bad impression of it, but it's definately not another generic, meaningless song like Maladroit.

This song has potential to be a huge hit, and I cant wait for Make Believe.

Great single for their first release from their next album. Sure its very pop music but it is very catchy and I bet you are gonna see a lot of people jump on the weezer bandwagon. I look forward to this album and catching them on tour in may.

im a huge weezer fan and i don't know what people would like about this song. its definitely the weakest song i've heard by them. what was rivers thinking when he wrote this? it reminds me of good charolette's "lifestyles of the rich and famous". i am so disappointed by this...

this song is great.

i think it's about not fitting in and feeling out of place. thats probably how rivers always feels.

Well, even if this single is different, and the lyrics are sort of dumb, even though I still think they're a little tounge-in-cheek, you absolutely cannot judge an album based on this one song.

I mean, look at Ben Folds' "Rockin the Suburbs", the first single 'Rockin the Suburbs' was a poppy, goofy, tounge in cheek song that sounded absolutely nothing like the rest of the album. I'm not saying Weezer is going to do the same, but I'm saying if you are assuming Make Believe is going to suck because you don't like Beverly Hills, then you need to relax and just wait for the album to judge it.

It's just very boring.

Weezer's problem is that they can't live up to the precedent they set for themselves. I'm hoping the rest of the album is an upgrade from this single.

Oh for God's sake people, it's NOT that bad, and definitely NOT the worst. Ever hear Love Explosion? No wonder Rivers called his fans 'little bitches.' A lot of them are! I actually like this song... it has grown on me. And I've been a weezer fan since 1994, and the song is decent, though definitely not Blue or Pinkerton quality. It's just the commercially acceptable single that Geffen made them put on the cd. The rest of the cd is supposed to be different, and I'm hoping it's really good. This song is just very tongue-in-cheek.

I've been looking forward to seeing weezer in concert ever since they became my favourite band over a year ago. They're coming to Vancouver, but the place they're playing at is 19+ =( I'm so depressed. Nobody has any idea how sad I am ='(

Brian said in a rolling stones article that Make Believe is gonna be a mix of blue and pinkerton with some maladroit solos. Karl said that this song is totally different from the rest of Make Believe, so calm down.

A decent song, although below their standards. Quite static if you ask me. But besides that\'s besides the point.
This song is about how a person can feel like they don\'t belong in the world, or something.

WeezerChic is right, people grow, musicians grow. If you really are a hardcore fan (hahah i said hardcore), you would know that the great works of 'the blue albulm' werent really weezer's work neither was 'the green albulm' so booh yahh!!! So, really this song is fabulous, yeah its not say it aint so level lyrics, but its fun and more experimental sound wise than anything theyve done since pinkerton. So hell, sit back, relax and stop fucking bitching. Gawd, no wonder rivers locked himself in that room for so long.

First off, everyone chill out, this is just a single.. Maladroit sounds nothing like "Dope Nose" and Green is nothing like "Hash Pipe" so settle down.

Secondly, I think there is a difference between Weezer writing a song about how fake Hollywood is compared to GC writing a song about the same thing. Weezer does not seem to play games of Hollywood, they do not drive escalades and all that shit, so them insulting the people that do is not hypocritical.

Lastly this song is not about not fitting it, it is about how people are fake but that does not matter, cause he is just gonna do his thing and be happy for it.

Catchy as hell, and the wa-wa solo kicks ass.

Does not sound like Weezer. Good, but it doesn't sound like Weezer. It doesn't even sound like Homie (you people should get that reference). It sounds like Sublime covering something from Pinkerton. I don't entirely like the idea of outside vocals, especially female vocals, on a Weezer song (unless Mykel and Carli were still alive), but they fit the song. I don't think the lyrics are stupid. They know they're geeks, and they're using it. It's definitely a lot more ironic and sarcastic than a lot of their stuff, and we'll really see that in the video, which should be quite cool.

There will never be a Blue Album or Pinkerton again. Rivers has made that quite clear with the Green Album, Maladroit and now this single. I'm not saying it's neccesarily a bad thing because I'll pretty much dig anything Rivers puts out. The song is simple, catchy and a good start to promoting A5. If you're going to judge the album by the first radio single, you have problems and shouldn't be granted the permission to have an opinion of one of the most seminal rock bands of the last 10-15 years. Make Believe will be great in it's own way.
