Another lovely song by Fall Out Boy. I've always interpreted it as a long term friendship that went downhill when the girl found out about him liking her. She then spent all of her time with other guys, trying to scare him away for one reason or another while hiding her feelings for her.

Then I imagined her shooting him and him being such a masochist he liked it. I'm not talking about Wentz, and I know for sure this isn't its true meaning. I just decided when I first listened to it to weave a plot out of it.

ahh i love this song :)
but the lyric is DEFINITELY "god complex"...for god sakes people it's on the inside booklet for the cd! And it makes perfect sense, a god complex is a disorder when you want to be in control all the time and have all the power; hence a loaded god complex is someone who wants the power all the time and will do anything to get it.
Also, this is a confirmed break-up song by Pete Wentz, and everyone seems to agree it's about jealousy...maybe the JEALOUS loaded GOD complex is the reason for the BREAK-UP... am I the only one seeing this?

The line "I'll be your number with a bullet"

Refers to the Billboard Hot 100 where they would put a bullet next to songs that sold one million singles or more. Being "number one with a bullet" mean not only did you sell over 1 million singles, you were also number one the charts.

So for him to say he wants to be her number one with a bullet, it means he wants to be her best.

I love this song ... I think its about a guy who really likes a girl and is jealous of her boyfriend judging from some of the lines such as " wishing to be the friction in your jeans " and "isnt it messed up how i'm just dying to be him "

Speaking from a psychologist's view, a "god complex" basically means you're playing god, giving the right to give and take lives, just as God would. In that sense, it would actually fit here. Talking about a gun, ("cock it and pull it") he does have a god complex. the term "loaded gun complex" doesnt actually exist. "Loaded God complex" is actually a play on words, referencing to the fact that a person with a God complex can be unstable, like playing with a loaded gun.

Ok about the "gun" vs. "god" thing..
It's definately "god", the phrase "loaded god complex" means a person who is very arrogant.

The line "I'll be your number one with a bullet" is a reference to what people would say about a song that was on the number one spot on the music charts. The song was already number one and it coulnd't go any higher so the only place for it to go was... down. Falling up. I think the whole song is about exactly what the chorus says. We're going down.

Okay, so it's definitely 'God' complex. You need to think of it like this. He is using a mix of two different metaphors in one bigger metaphor. He says, "I'll be your number one with a bullet, a loaded God-Complex. Cock it and pull it." What he's saying is that he's wants to take the place of the other guy no matter what. Even if it means he has to have the bullet and pull all the strings and be like he is. He's got that ready to go, or his God-Complex is loaded, and he can be an ass like the other guy whenever he likes. All he has to do is start being like him, or cocking it and pull it. The phrase has nothing to do with killing someone. It doesn't have anything to do with an actual gun. Listen to all of the other lyrics. He is talking about how he wishes to be the other guy, and the chorus says the same thing in a more clever way. He's the soft type that likes to lay in the grass, but she's with a guy who's more of a jockish jerk, but he would fight to have something with her....God complex people...God complex

Number One With a Bullet is a 1987 movie about two cops finding corruption in a spotless public figure, leading all the way to their own department.
It might not be connected, or it might be. Interpret it how you will.

Definitely God complex. Don't see why there was even an argument about it. A God complex is like thinking that you have a God-like ability to choose such things as who lives and who dies. So in other words, it's a metaphor, referring to holding a gun with the intent to kill someone as a 'God complex'.

that line "I'm just a notch in your bed post, but you're just a line in a song" is like the ultimate "fuck you" to a girl that's being a whore, thinking that she's pulling a fast one on him. saying yeah i know you're a whore and you think you're using me, well just so happens i'm using you too.

its halarious how people are making this song sound like its a love song, how its about a guy who likes this girl and everything... if anything the closest thing to love is the fact that he may lust after this girl... and that's it.
