Ask yourself, are you a slut?
- No you're not!
Did you forget how much you are worth
- It's a lot!
Do you remember when we used do it all for free?

Your head is shouting
Please please please,
please please please

Don't let your cock do all the work

Where did you bottle up
the gentleman, the gentleman?
Where did you bottle up
the gentleman, the gentleman?

Where did you bottle up
the gentleman, the gentleman?
Where did you bottle up
the gentleman, the gentleman?

give me your hands, give me your hands
give me your hands, give me your hands

Your head is shouting
Please please please,
please please please

Don't let your cock do all the work
all the work

All those around you
Please please please,
please please please

What can you do to shut us up,
shut us up?

You are like a shut-in on the prowl
Everyday is like your first night off,
- since your bail.
but we will never write you off.

Your head is shouting
Please please please,
please please please

- Please please please!

Don't let your cock do all the work

- Please please please!

All those around you
Please please please,
please please please

- Please please please!

What can you do to shut us up?

- Please please please!

We will never write you off
We will never write you off
We will never write you off
We will never write you off
We will never write you off

- Please please please!

We will never write you off
We will never write you off
We will never write you off
We will never write you off
We will never write you off

- Please please please!

My Interpretation:I think it's about someone selling themselves short, accepting an empty 'relationship' based on sex although they deserve more.
It's about a relationship/culture where relationships are based on sex. And the character in this scenario is accepting this. In the first line "Ask yourself are you a slut?" It's pointing out that he's worth more than this and know's it (deep down), but a physical relationship is easier. There's obviously more layers to him than just his sexuality. This is obvious in all the lines "don't let your cock do all the work" because there's more to him (and of course others).
However, sadly, society will let individuals slide by in these physical relationships. They don't really frown upon it and people who are great and worth a lot sell themselves short to people who just want to get something for free because "we will never write you off"
I think he's just begging, the whole song to me just seems like a plea to someone (more like an interior monologue)to get the courage to demand what you're worth for.

    It's a wonderful.

General Comment:I thought that the line "What can you do to shut us up?" might be the mans balls teasing the man himself as if no matter how hard he tries, he cant drown out what his balls or cock tell him to do.

I also got the feeling that the song switches constantly between a 3rd person and a 1st person view, which makes it a little harder to figure out.

General Comment:I agree with the interpretations about the oversexualization - not a word, but totally should be - of the gay culture - it sounds like it could be about someone he knows and was friends with but who has begun to rely on his sexuality. It sounds like he's offering him a chance to redeem himself with the "we will never write you off" line. It could be about Owen himself, who knows.

As ridiculously cheesy as this sounds, especially because I'm a straight girl, this song kind of makes me want to be less of a slut. I probably did forget how much I am worth. So even if that's not the intended effect of the song, it's working for me :)

General Comment:I think this song is about people settling for less than they deserve. It may even be about how superficial "love" can be.

I love the desperation in his voice when he sings "Where did you bottle up the gentleman, the gentleman?"

It's as if the lover has changed; the man he loved is no longer there.

General Comment:sorry souljuice, it's not about a hooker
i personally think it's about a gay man's fight against the visible sursexuality visible in the "milieu gai" (i don't know how to say that in english... the gay scene? hehe

General Comment:When he sings "Where did you bottle up the gentleman?" I got the impression at first he was mentioning, like, Gentleman Jack. As if he was trying to drink his sorrows away. However, I don't know now.

It seems more like it would be what montcie is saying.

General Comment:love it. the desperate shouting just makes it much more strong.

the way I perceive it. it's all about an internal conflict. his mind is reproaching him fro his failure as a real gentlemen. he knows he has a head/mind but will much rather use the cock...but wheres the heart? "All those around you Please please please...What can you do to shut us up, shut us up? - maybe if he put a little bit of heart into his actions he will reach a balance and maybe shut them up. but there’s no mention of his heart so there’s really to change or reaction coming from this guy. -"You are like a shut-in on the prowl...but we will never write you off."

like that little voice in your head that always gives its opinion, you know its there but sometimes you just ignore it.
