Lyrics for I Never Came as interpreted by shadowcml

I Never Came Lyrics
When you say it's dead & gone
I know you're wrong

Cut & slash, sharpest knife
It won't die

Poison cup, drank it up
It won't die

No fire, no gun, no rope, no stone
It won't die

Why you gotta shove it in my face
As if you put me in my place
Cause I DON'T CARE
If you or me is wrong or right
Ain't gonna spend another night,
In your bed...

Laws of man, are just pretend
They ain't mine

Love so good, love so bad
It won't die

Some talk too long, they know it all
I just smile & move on

Words ain't free, like you & me
I d'ont mind...

Why'd you have to be so mean & cruel,
The dogs are loose i'm on to you
You ball & ...
Chained together from the dawn to dusk,
Can't call it leavin, cause it's just

I never came....

You guys are gay fucks, Queens may have a lot to say about sex but this song is more serious. This song has a person depressed about love and mistakes. Cut & slash, sharpest knife
It won't die
Poison cup, drank it up
It won't die
No fire, no gun, no rope, no stone
It won't die
hence suicidal thoughts and the chorus has him realizing he never did anything for them. whatev

Burntfire, hi im water i just fell on you.
You're fucking gay
homoass bitch probably don't even like QOTSA

i think burntfire's theory fits but isn't correct, i think incubus_gigbutt is getting close, a chick broke up with him and he won't exept it he's still i love with her and is trying to rid himself of thoughts of her...suicide

so far the ONLY person that seems to have truly understands this song is incubus_gigbutt. It has nothing to do with sex at all. It is about the struggles of a troubling relationship. That is why in the end it says "Can't say it's leaving, cuz it's just, I never came." it is a turn of words. Yeah there seems to be sexual references, but you have to look at the context of all of the words. I am not gonna bash anyone, because that would be fucked up. But try to think things out very thouroughly before you commit to one meaning. Take it as advice, not criticism. But once again. Good job incubus_gigbutt sir.

My theory is peiced together from all the ones previous to now. Except without the irrational flaming. It is about a guy trying to loose the feelings he has for an ex. The cutting and the slashing isn't reference to suicide in my opinion, just a symbol of killing his feelings for her, but they never die. The relationship ended because of a total lack of passion, she blamed him, mocking him and accusing him of being impotent. He doesn't care though, coz he loved her. He didn't care about the fact they couldn't fuck coz he was in love with her.

I think this song is about a guy who's ex/significant other/friends with benefits etc has put on him that he's going to be the father.

The end quote, being "Can't call it leavin, cause it's just I never came...."

Proving that he couldn't be the father, and he knows he didn't came.

On the other hand, I could agree with Eskimo_8 about his theory about that. I could see Queen's doing some weird song about impotancy/Erectile Dysfunction.

Well incubus_gigbutt, did you ever think that the sexual undertones are a metaphor for the relationship? So technically we are both right on different levels. Many songs have multiple meanings.

And I am a big QOTSA fan. I wouldn't put it past them to make a serious sounding song that was actually jsut about something as simple as sex and vice versa.

Hey incubus_gigbutt, Josh just happened to say in concert, right before this song..."This is called I Never Came...I fake every orgasm"

I don't think it's about suicide at all, but love. I think it's about a guy who loves a girl and she won't love him back. To me it sounds like she knew very well he loved her but she was just using him, probably for sex or what have you. For example: all of the 'it won't die' comments I believe are about the feelings. They just won't go away, he can't help it. 'Ain't gonna spend another night, In your bed...' sounds to me like he's tired of being used and her constantly ridiculing him. 'Can't call it leavin, cause it's just I never came....' In his mind he never truly got with her because the feelings weren't requited. Of course I'm sure I am probably off with a few of my views but whatever. And BenLee, Josh is infamous for saying stupid shit live that doesn't matter, he said this about The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret live: Josh: "This song is about the secret of Nick's beard."
Audience Member: "Beer?"
Josh: "Did he say beard or beer? I can't fucking tell. It sounds like he's got marbles in his mouth."

"no fire no gun no rope no stone..it won't die"..To me the most beautiful words in this song.. I think Josh is talking about a love so big, that even if unreciprocated, will never end.

This song is the best song on the CD........

Josh Homme shows off his lyrical guitar/ singing muscle with this song.....

Beuatiful the falsetto he hits on the chorus, and when he harmonizes with the horns at the outtro of the song, it's just like..... this guy is amazing....

On the DVD he makes the hand movements(I couldn't think of how to word it, but I'm sure you get it), indicating the song is about that

Anyone who knows anything about Josh Homme knows he lies about what his songs are about constantly. I mean, he gave three different meanings for The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret in two shows and one interview. You can't take his word on face value.

I think this song's about way more than sex.

Sex is a recurring theme in QotSA songs, but is very rarely the predominant one. This is a relationship song. The very fact that the title suggest sexuality should hint to any dedicated fan that it is definately not that sort of song.
