My dewy-eyed Disney bride, what has tried
Swapping your blood with formaldehyde?
Monsters?
Whisky-plied voices cried fratricide!
Jesus don't you know that you could've died
(You should've died)
With the monsters that talk, monsters that walk the earth

And she's got red lipstick and a bright pair of shoes
And she's got knee high socks, what to cover a bruise
She's got an old death kit she's been meaning to use
She's got blood in her eyes, in her eyes for you
She's got blood in her eyes for you

Certain fads, stripes and plaids, singles ads
They run you hot and cold like a rheostat, I mean a thermostat
So you bite on a towel
Hope it won't hurt too bad

My dewy-eyed Disney bride, what has tried
Swapping your blood with formaldehyde?
What monsters that talk, monsters that walk the earth

And she says I like long walks and sci-fi movies
If you're six foot tall and east coast bred
Some lonely night we can get together
And I'm gonna tie your wrists with leather
And drill a tiny hole into your head

My Interpretation:Overall, I feel as if this song is portraying a woman that has come out of an abusive relationship that turns the woman into a resentful and vengeful being. The song is more told by an outsider that watches the woman and wonders what has happened to her that caused her so much pain, versus a first person account of the woman’s emotions.

The first verse signifies who the woman was: a “dewy-eyed Disney bride”. An outsider questions what has transformed such innocence into someone who resembles death (reference to formaldehyde). The references to monsters would refer to the men who have wronged her and abused her over her life. Specifically, the suggestion that there was abuse in her home from her brother (fratricide) would perpetuate her hatred towards men.

The next section paints a picture of the woman with her lipstick and shoes and the knee high socks, which are all attempts to cover up the bruises and scars that her past has given her. The mention of a death kit begins to show her hatred towards her brother and the men that have hurt her. The blood in her eyes further embellishes this and shows the extent of her hatred and her passion to seek revenge.

This woman then actively seeks out men to inflict her revenge on. The reference to a rheostat and biting on a towel suggests she is torturing these men. The last part of the song continues to outline her search for men to torture them the way that she has been abused in the past.

General Comment:i didnt know about the song being part of a song called trepanation when i first heard it, so the part about drilling a hole into their head just seemed like a Jeffrey Dahmer reference. The girl is a killer. i mean, she owns a "death kit."
I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that theres also a guy who is a killer.

My Interpretation:This song screams masochism to me. Or a guy who falls for a girl who's into BDSM.

"jesus don't you know that you could've died" - I think immediately of erotic asphyxiation, which has a pretty big death toll, obviously.

"and she's got knee high socks, what to cover a bruise" - another example that screams BDSM.

"certain fads, stripes and plaids, singles ads" - BDSM has become a fad in the recent years.

"so you bite on a towel hope it won't hurt too bad" - loves the pain but is always scared?

"and she says i like long walks and sci-fi movies
if you're six foot tall and east coast bred
some lonely night we can get together
and i'm gonna tie your wrists with leather
and drill a tiny hole into your head" - looking for someone to join the act.

Now, there's a 99.9% chance that I'm taking this way out of proportion. I also see the metaphors in the above lines. But every time I listen to this, I think of BDSM. Maybe my mind's just too polluted from religiously reading Mary Gaitskill.

Song Meaning:This song is about a girl who posts a singles ad with the intention of killing the person who responds to the ad. The irony is the person who responds to the ade, responds with the intention of killing her. Hints the word fratricide. To kill a brother, sister, or someone who is similar to you. They were both trying to become murderers.

General Comment:Correction to my prev. comment... It's actually the girl killin' people, not the guy (that's what I've been told).
It reminds me of the Maximum Ride books, about genetic experiments. It seems like this girl is a scientist going on a dating site to try and find subjects to use in experiments(which is easy because she's cute), but she needs a certain kind with special likes and dislikes or a certain trait...

and she says i like long walks and sci-fi movies
if you're six foot tall and east coast bred

so she can "run them hot and cold" and "drill a tiny hole into your head" before she kills them off either with her death kit or with the "monsters that walk the earth."

Or she could be testing you to see why you survived a different kind of monster (one that's common on the East Coast) which are armed robbers, muggers, etc.

    But hey.

General Comment:Is this about a guy who is trying to bump off all his girlfriends? Because when I read the lyrics, it kind of sounded like that. O_O

General Comment:I think it is about plastic surgery and fake women. I think it is about a woman who is doing all sorts of questionable stuff, stuff that could kill her, to win the perfect man (six foot tall and east coast bred). She turns herself into (or from, if you see disney as a more or less innocent state) the disney bride with red lipstick & high heals and more crazy methods (swapping your blood with formaldehyde) and becomming a monster in the process. I think in order for the man who meets her via the singles adds to find the real girl under the monster she needs to be tied up and her real self exosed by 'drilling a hole into her head'.

What do you guys think of this interpretation?
