Lyrics for Brand New Love (Sebadoh cover) as interpreted by laxgyrl21

Brand New Love (Sebadoh cover) Lyrics
Restless eyes close, maybe it'll go away
Please rest tomorrow, bring a satisfying day
The restless urge of love that's worth the burning for
Surely it's that one consuming love to give you more
Any thought could be the beginning
Of the brand new tangled web you're spinning
Anyone could be a brand new love
Any tithe that holds can be broken
Tear your bitter world to the open
Anyone could be a brand new love
You won't be the first, your twisted change is normal
Gossan dirt, whispered to the nodding head
Thrilled you fell apart, instead of them
But they will
Any hope for love can be killed
If you need a different face
It's definite time to destroy this place
Any thought could be the beginning
Of the brand new tangled web you're spinning
Anyone could be a brand new love
Follow what you feel, you alone decide what's real
Anyone can be a brand new love

Im pretty sure this is originally a new order song, that was cover dy deadsy also. If the lyrics aren't exact though i know they have songs that sound the same and have the same meanings. Great song about how no matter how much u love someone you can find someone to love just as much. In away the song almost says that love is just a word, but you alone decide if its true love or not.

Yeah, this is a Sebadoh song, originally. The original sounds much different. Death Cab's interpretation is pretty wonderful, though. Anyway, without really sitting and analyzing the lyrics, I've always thought this song was about a person who wants to love the person they are singing about, but the person they are singing about is so innocent and naive and vulnerable when it comes to love. And that person can't understand why they always hurt. Something like that.

I think this song is about someone who was just dumped by someone they loved, and they're desperately looking for someone else. They're spinning webs around other people looking for a new relationship.

Well i ahve two interpretations for this song... the first one is the way it relates to what i'm going through and then the second is the more accurate one (i htink)

1) i think this song is about someone you love so much but you're starting to find out that they really dont care about you and how much it hurts, while your trying to be ok with it. the line "Restless eyes close, maybe it'll go away" give light to the inner pain he might be going through and the lines "Surely it's that one consuming love to give you more" might say how he believed that the person he was with was supposed to be the one. "Any ties that hold can be broken" could be a way of him learning that no matter how much you love someone you cant force them to love you back. The part about any thought could be the beginning of a brnad new tangled web, a brand new love may be his bitter accept to the facts of the person he cares about most doesnt love him, and his trying to move on. The reference to the tangled web could say how he feel sorry for the next to get involved. and its also about how he's lost his ability to tell whats real and whats not. i think the last few lines are sarcasm.

oh wait. thats ME. my bad. haha.

Interpretation numbah TWO!

The probably more accurate descrition for this song, and which also somewhat applies to me, is that quite simply its about someone who cant move on, and he's trying to ocnvince himself that it doesnt take much to start over "Anyone could be your brand new love" but he isnt convinced. its like an internal struggle that has to do with moving on.

thats my best.

I know Superchunk did it too, which I think made Ben want to cover it.

I think its about someone talking to themselves, considering dumping his significant other. Weighing the Pros/Cons... "Restless Eyes close, maybe it'll go away" meaning hes trying hard not to notice other women, "You won't be the first..." trying to convince himself it's ok, "Thrilled you fell apart, instead of them" relieved that he's not the one getting dumped, "It's definite time to destroy this place" he's deciding to go through with it, "Follow what you feel, you alone decide what's real" trying desperately to justify his feelings.

My $.02

I've always loved this song but it's 2:30am, I'm really high, and this song makes more sense to me than it ever has.

TheFoot - I definitely could see where you are coming from with your interpretation. But, through experience, I think it might be the other way around.

I think this is definitely meant to be sung to one person, possibly his girlfriend. He is very much in love with her, but I think she has just expressed thoughts that maybe she doesn't love him as much as he loves her. So he is pleading her to rethink her thoughts; she just overthinks things until they spiral out of control and she starts developing all of these things in her head.

He asks her to rest her tired eyes, and hopefully wake in the morning and all of her bad thoughts will be gone. He tells her that this burning love is worth it and even though it's a very trying relationship, it's worth it. He tries to make her realize that any new thought could twist and turn until it was a crazy mess. But she is still paranoid and insecure and just keeps repeating "anyone could be your brand new love."

And he tries to reassure her that he loves her, but he eventually comes to terms with her problem and lets her know that it is ultimately what she makes of it. He can't convince her otherwise.

Haha, sorry. I guess that's just how i relate to it, and how it makes most sense to me.

Beautiful song, and cover too.
